Here is a GF coffee question ~

The coffee pots in the room, are the filters the regular fluted circle kind or are they the cone shaped filters?

I want to pack my community coffee. I thought they had them in those small filter/grounds pack but I was at the store and didn't see them.
I am going to have to bring filter and grounds

I know we talked about coffee before but I can't find the post :rotfl:
I am also not sure if we just talked about cofee or the filter type we needed to buy! :confused3

Hey, Praline....the room coffee is just Maxwell House or something like that in those filter pocket things that you just plop in. I don't really drink coffee much on vacation because I am usually not up early enough to have those wonderful magical moments of peace and quiet sitting out on the balcony people watching while the sun comes up and drinking a cup while the family sleeps that I've read about others having...... and if I am up early we are in hustle mode - no time for dilly dallying with coffee while caught up in FULL STRESS hurry mode - so I am not the coffee expert. All I do know is that the WDW coffee is disgusting if you buy it out in a restaurant vs what you can make in your room. I can def take Maxwell House over that swill. It's NASTY.:scared:
In the concierge lounges they have a machine that some say makes good coffee...they might have one in Gaspies, too. Just beware of the Nescafe in restaurants....ick.

Typhoonlagooner - :thumbsup2 Love your plan and your memory!!:goodvibes

:rotfl: I know!! I have read about other people having those types of "moments"...I never get them at WDW!!! :confused3 :confused3 It sounds lovely, though. I do need to try it some time.:goodvibes

We bring our coffee from home. The coffee at WDW is like water with a drop of brown food coloring.

I know the coffee is gross ... yuck yuck so I am bringing my own... i just need to know what type filter to bring as the coffee I like doesn't come in those pouches... anyone know?

 I know! What's up with the coffee at WDW?? It's the one huge issue I have with the place. I wish I had brought my own!
And I'm such a dork -- I made time just about every morning to have those "enjoy my coffee on the balcony while the family sleeps" moments. :rotfl:

Oh it sounds so tempting! I was looking to do something on my own at the Spa and send the boy off golfing but he admittd he was too lazy to lug around his clubs  So he's steppin' in on my "spa territory" but that couples massage does sound pretty nice and relaxin... I'm liking "wet noddle" mood. I guess we'll have to plan that into our "pool afternoon".

I planned a spa day on my own while DH took the kids to the park -- it was for me the highlight of my stay at the GF. I loved it so much that I ended up booking another treatment for myself and dragging DH along to get a massage, he loved it!!

While I haven't been blessed with kids yet (really enjoying this whole "all about me time" :rolleyes1 ) I'm already trying to "control" as much as possible in regards to my Disney trips. To be fair though, Disney trips came first... so the baby must adjust ;) I've spaced my kids to coincide with low crowd seasons, good ages to go, and to ensure that I'm NOT pregnant while on a trip. DBF thinks I'm "controlling" too much (thanks shirlock) but hey... no harm in a girl trying! He's already seen my spreadsheet with all by park gear, attire, resorts, and strollers picked out :ssst: I think I scared him with that one...

This cracked me up. You sound just like me, one thing I had to adjust to when having my own kids was that they never seem to stick to a plan!!

A never realized it growing up, but my Disney trips with my mom have provided me with some of the best memories and more imporantly a love of something I can pass on to my own kids. Yes, I may have missed a game or two, or some special event, but to be honest... when someone asks me "hey what did you do in 1997?" The first thing to comes to mind is my Disney trip to CBR with my mom and our time at the Polynesian Luau and HHDR. Whats even better? Is that even with all the bad things that can happen, our Disney trips are still what we remember most... now thats some magic!

My mom made the right decision, even if it didn't seem it at the time.

*kodak moment over*

You said this so well. This is exactly how we feel. My kids always choose our Disney vacation over anything else, I'm so grateful for that. I hope my children will come away with the same kind of memories your mother and father allowed you, and pass it on to their children.

Sorry, Just had a moment of "I can't get my mind of of GF and WDW". I still need to post my engagement photos of us at GF from November 16th! I am stuck with planning already for the big day!! Any new GF buzz out there? I'm already thinking that our 1 year anniv. will be GF bound:woohoo:

I'm not a coffee drinker, but just talked to DH, and he confirmed that they're the normal "basket" type, not the cone ones.

We didn't get to stay at GF this time :( but the ones at BWI and Poly were the basket type (I got to make it every morning for BF). I am not a coffee drinker, but my dad says that the coffee at WDW is swill. Every morning we had to go to Kona at the Poly and get a cup for him. BF on the other hand thinks the coffee is great and hated the cup I bought him from Kona.

To each their own I guess, but the coffee in the rooms SMELLS bad to me even, so I would definitely bring my own!

Thanks everyone! I will pack up some 4 cup basket filters with my chicory new orleans coffee....

I can see people from other rooms taking a sniff and knocking at my door for a cup :rotfl: :rotfl:

GOOD coffee in my room every morning, anyone want to show up?!:rotfl:

Praline, if I don't like the coffee machine in the lounge, I am going to knock on your door for some Community!!! I may have to bring my own as well ...

your staying RPC right?!?! How about I bring MY community up to YOUR room :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

There is just something about the smell of community coffee in the morning to perk you up:surfweb:

I used it. It is basically a docking station. Very easy because I am a techno idiot and even I knew right away what to do to get sound. I don't even know if I am answering your question, haha. Sorry. You just stick your ipod on and it either charges or plays. Simple. It sounds pretty nice, too.

I didn't even know the past clocks were mp3 compatible....I thought they were ust CD players.

Lives4Disney :)

Channing, the past clocks were mp3 compatible, but I could never get them to work for me! Did you happen to notice if the clocks have a plug for headphones?

Hi Everyone!

As usual trying to catch up... not here for a day or two and the pages just add up!

Trying to think and plan for trip... just not into it yet, too busy at work and stuff but it will be a welcome and needed trip expecially at GF!

Channing thanks for the Narcossee info... I agree, well at least for us, oop would be too pricey for us especially with twins 4yrolds... maybe DDP, but I don't think we are going to upgrade.... still dreaming that we will be upgraded to conciege and wellt hen what good would deluxe DDP be (a gal can dream can't she?). I did book CP for before the park opens have to say that was afavorite of mine the last time. Couldn't get 1900 for dinner but got it again for a breakfest... hmmm... yup still need to get Lilo and Stitch in there.. Maybe I should call resv tonight... that should get me back in the swing!

Praline.. I think we are going to be there at the same time... the beginning of Feb?

Oh... and what's this you are not supposed to take yoru kids out of school for vacation... make room on that bench... mine start "k" in Sept and I already have something planned end of Sept which will make them miss school and hoping for GF at XMAS. I guess missing "K" is not a big deal... but it forbodes (SP?) of things to come!!

Can anyone tell me how long it takes from GF to Downtown Disney... is the bus the best way and is it worth it? We are only going to be there for 3 days.. and we anticipate 2 days in MK and we will have 1 extra day. I know all those other parks... soon soon... have to have reasons to keep going back ya know!

Ok.. off to call DD... Hope everyone is well!

Enjoy!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Yes, we are staying RPC. And we will let you in for Community coffee. :)

Hey let me know if you find the community chicory coffee in those filter pouches anywhere! I looked and I could only find the decaf in the filter pouches.
That is why I am going to bring my red bag with me and filters :lmao:

Sorry Dumb Question here:

I'm planning for my ADRs etc and would appreciate if someone can give me an idea - How long does it take -
a). from GF to MK (via monorail)
b). from MK to GF (via monorail)
c). from MK to Epcot (via monorail)
d). from GF to MK (via boat launch)

Thank you very much!

I'm making approximations here, but I would say:

a) 5 mins., tops - GF is one stop from the MK on the resort monorail line

b) I would say 20 mins., maybe more. You would have to ride the complete resort monorail circuit (CR, TTC, Poly, then GF) to get back to the GF. The fastest way to the GF from the MK is the resort launch - first stop.

c) Probably at least a half hour. You would have to ride the monorail to the TTC from the MK, and then transfer to the Epcot monorail there.

d) Probably 15 mins. The boat launch will go from the GF to the Poly, and then to the MK.
