Yesterday I was having a snack, tea I believe, in SL and I saw a woman with 2 children that fit the description of disneydreamin247. I took a chance and asked if she was on DIS and said I was Jungle Cruiser. It was in fact disneydreamin247 and her family. It turns out our rooms are both on the same short hallway in SL. I told her this afternoon when we were chatting we couldn't hear her daughter crying....poor little thing, she was asleep in her mother's arms. Small world!

Just got back from Twilight Refreshers. Tonight's hot appetizers were lamb meat balls in marinaria sauce and vegetable spring rolls. The cold appetizers were rice and artichoke tarts and Asian chicken slaw in little thin fried dough holders.

We came back to the room a little bit earlier last night and saw they now set up the movie screen at the end of the pool facing the main building. It is a great set up, families were watching from the chaises on the pool deck, as well as from in the pool!

Off to meet friends EPCOT!

That is SO cool that you got to meet Dani! We watched "Goofy movie" from our balcony, then went down to the pool. It was really neat :lovestruc I liked the meatballs...DH's and DS' favorite was the Fried Ravioli. YUM!

k&a&c'smom She had a wonderful day! But she is already wishing her birthday back, poor baby. She shampooed (and conditioned) again this morning :goodvibes

Would someone be able to tell me if the rooms in SL on the 1st floor are as nice and the one's on the 4th floor? I'm told the ones on the 4th floor (top floor) have higher ceilings. Is that true? Are the views of the marina worth the extra money vs. garden view? I'd appreciate the info. :goodvibes

The top floor rooms are the Dormer rooms...

Marina and garden are in the same category

Having a relaxing morning. I am sitting on a bench overlooking the marina enjoying a second cup of coffee enjoying all ther is to see. Interestingly enough, I am still able to access the free WiFI from SL out here. Not sure if it's just this one spot, but nice to know.

We were out on Sea Racyers yesterday and you could get a great view of what is behind the wall on the beachside of the construction between the GF pool and the Wedding Chapel. Nothing. There are a couple of steel looking beams, but other than that no signs of anything. There may be noise down the line but there doesn't seem to be much going on at this point. I have also figured out the difference in the walkway. Once you get past the pool on your way to the Polynesian you normally continue on the path next to the sand. Now the path goes under the monorail and you are farther in from the Seven Seas Lagoon. The path is worn in, not new, so I suspect it has always been there for service vehicles. Pictures are forthcoming!

I hope you're having an awesome stay. Sorry I didn't get to say goodbye yesterday.

Jungle cruiser that is my most favorite thing to do, while the others are sleeping I take my coffee out too and just sit and watch the GF and all it's surroundings. It will be my turn in 29 days. I am so happy you met up with a fellow diser how much fun was that. Have a great vacation.

Less than a month to go.......................:yay::yay::yay:

I spent the afternoons on the balcony people watching while the kiddos napped. Not the same perspective as early morning, but I was content with my coffee in hand just watching the ducks swim with everyone in the courtyard pool :goodvibes

My DH likes to go out on the balcony very late at night when I am asleep, that's his quiet time. He especially loved the year we stayed at Conch Key because you could hear the wolf howing at the Haunted Mansion.

In what area of Conch Key was your room? Overlooking the marina, castle or interior grounds? I would love to hear the wolf howling at night too. :goodvibes

I woke up this morning, and the days I wanted including Friday and Saturday night were available with the Ap discount. :yay:I am really excited to be staying at the the GF in Dec 7-12. The Christmas pictures look amazing. I did have to book the the last night of our trip Dec 12 at the Yc. I think it will work our out well since we will have the dxdp for 5 nights. I am sure will have enough credits left to eat the night were at the Yc. Its like getting 6 days of eating for the price of 5. Any advice for a first time stay at the GF would be appreciated.

Thanks, so far I have always been able to get what I want. Sometimes it takes checking the website a thousand times a day like I have done for the last 4 days.

My husband has become handicapped due to some incidents during his time overseas. There are other families who have it way worse so I'm not complaining at all, but he is getting out of the army early next year. We are celebrating that as well as this being our first wdw trip as a family. its a first trip for myself, our kids and my mom so we are all REALLY excited. Army life has been difficult (again not complaining), but we could really use some family time as we enter back into civilian life.

Tell him a big "thank you" fOr his service.

Hi Mariamouse, we were in room 7212 and our room faced the quiet pool, the marina was to our left. Heavenly!!!!!

latinqt - All the standard rooms at the GF are decorated the same. As Tink rules posted, many of the upper floor rooms (some on the third and fourth, as well as the fifth) are dormer rooms. This means they have vaulted ceilings, which can make them seem roomier, and dormer balconies. I'm not fond of the dormer balconies, as they are enclosed and you have to stand to see out, but many people like the extra privacy.

Here is a link to page 45 of the former FAQ, scroll down to post #669 - gilsan has posted some great photos of a dormer room in Big Pine Key: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2427062&page=45

padawans - YAY! So glad you were able to snag the room you wanted at the AP rate. You are so right, if you are able to watch the site carefully, you will often find your desired dates open.

18 days and we will be at the Grand!!! I can't wait--so much to do before we leave, it's time to start getting organized.

Can anyone tell me if they have safes in the room?
