KCmike, I love the picture of Narcoossees from the dock! As long as my health holds we will be having dinner there 5 weeks from tonight!

Also, I want to let people know it's would be nice to send some prayers to Lulu'smom. Her health has taken a turn and her November trip is now off. They have rebooked for April, RPC, but prayers and good thoughts, with a sprinkling of pixie dust helps. She is in good spirits, a person to be admired.

My prayers to Lulu's mom, I know how tough that is.

Does anyone know about the photography studio on the 2nd floor (monorail floor), DH wants to have a family picture taken. Thanks!

One more note on the octagonical (aka Turret) rooms in the Deluxe King category -- they're friggin HUGE!! About 900 square feet, including a walk-in closet. As was said, there are six of them, three on the front of the building by the monorail, three at the back by the beach/lagoon. We had the beach side, 4th floor, and our views were all ridiculous, including seeing the castle and fireworks above/between some of the other buildings. We travel a lot for business and pleasure, and we've stayed in "nicer" rooms (the Wynn in Las Vegas for instance), but this was my favorite room I've ever stayed in. If you don't care about not having a balcony, I would request the Lagoon side turret room, 4th or 5th floor.

Dude, seriously? Do you do this for a living?

5 weeks is seriously going to fly. Sorry to hear about Lulu'smom. Definitely sending some prayers her way.

My prayers are with Lulu's mom.

KCmike - those pictures are great. I wish that we were there now instead of here in Connecticut. We are already getting rain from the hurricane.

My thoughts exactly! Here in NJ it's raining hard and it's just the beginning of what's to come. I LOVE opening up this thread and seeing, yet another wonderful picture of the GF thanks to KCmile. I love the blooming tree.

ZacharyW - :welcome: Everyone has given you great info regarding the deluxe king rooms - one of our favorite room categories. Like psac, we love the octagonal rooms, even though they do not have a balcony. So spacious, and the 180 view is spectacular!

One thing I thought I'd mention - you can ask IPO to add your room request at any time, no reason to wait until right before departure.

Good luck, and if you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask.:goodvibes

k&a&c'smom - We have eaten at Narcossees before. It's been a few years since we have been there. Last time we were there, the server was not the best. He was not attentive to any of his tables. We all had surf and turf. The lobster tail was very chewy and the filet was just okay. Dinner was nothing to write home about.

We are talking about having dinner again next year. We have given second chances to places that were not so good the first time around and have found that they have gotten better!

That's too bad about your server, I hope you have much better service on your next visit. We've only had one or two instances of marginal service in all our trips, so the chances are good.

I know i read somewhere but now i can not find it and DH doesnt believe me...

When you arrive at GF does someone from concierge meet you in the lobby? or do we have to find them?

can someone please let me know the process when you are staying CL (i hear its a separate check in).

A CL CM should be meeting you at the entrance, no matter how you arrive. If they do not (and we have had a couple trips that they were busy and did not meet us), simply walk to the front desk and alert a CM there - they will call someone to come meet you, and you will be escorted to the CL desks, or your room, if it is ready.

Hi all!! Been a long time since I stopped by! I need some info from the experts:) Please refresh my memory....the Deluxe rooms, what makes them deluxe again? The sq footage...and are they considered the tower rooms...and some do not have a balcony and/or daybed??

ETA: Not a deluxe room in RPC....Just did a search and I think I found the info I needed!

On a side note, just read about possible DVC at GF....I would love that...esp since the rumor was it would be ready by summer of 2013...perfect for our 10 yr anniv of our FTW....but could still be rumor!!

Thanks for any info on the Deluxe rooms!!!

Just booked RPC for December! Havent stayed at GF in years but am there every trip to wine or dine! So excited!!

Congrats on your RPC booking, December is a beautiful time for it!:cloud9:

Yes, the deluxe garden view rooms are what used to be called "tower rooms" or "outer building, tower rooms" - so confusing when they change the designation. The SL deluxe rooms are by request only, they cannot be booked, but the regular rooms in the other outer buildings are bookable. If you have questions that weren't answered by your search, ask away.:thumbsup2

I'm not too excited about the idea of DVC at the GF, but I do not own DVC, lol. I'm sure that would change my outlook entirely!

This is probably a silly question, but do the laundry machines accept your KTTW card like at CR?

Not a silly question at all.:flower3: Unfortunately, the KTTW cards will not operate the laundry machines. Too bad, as the change machines in the laundry rooms are often out of order, in my experience.:headache:

Best wishes and pixie dust to Lulu'sMom, I hope she is doing better. What a shame she has to postpone her trip, but having RPC booked for next Spring might take the sting out.:rose:

I hope you are doing well, and will be well enough to make that dinner reservation. Sending pixie dust and positive thoughts your way, too.

I needed a smile today so I came here. Thanks KCMike!

Thanks everyone. Wouldn't it be nice to be there today? I think I would have lunch at Cosmic Rays, go for an afternoon swim at the pool, and have dinner at the GF Cafe. The kids would go off at night and watch a movie by the beach and my wife and I would run back to MK to ride Splash Mtn.

We really got an amazing AP rate, playing with dates for a few days and all of a sudden it came up, I never called CRO so fast!!! I have to say I am very curious about a DVC GF!!! Esp what the cost per point will be!!! AND what it will look like!!!! It will change the whole landscape of the MK area....I had felt the same way abt BLT....like, what is that thing next to CR?!?! lol

4 days to go!!! :cool1:
And I am so not ready yet. I have so much left to do and all I want to do is DIS...:lmao: Not good, I tell ya!

Prayers to LuLu'sMom. I'm so sorry you had to postpone your trip.:guilty: Hope you are feeling better very soon.

LuLu'sMom - Hope things are better for you soon!

All, I didn't see this yet on the thread but I might have missed it (since I'm still here) but I wanted to mention the free WiFi that they are testing out at Sugaloaf.

I must say, it's a welcome change from the old cable WiFi, and it's very nice to use it! :goodvibes I'm not sure if they will keep it or not, but plan to send a nice email to Guest Services saying that I hope that they do.

And I would like to comment that having to take a boat or a bus back from MK during EMH is really not fun. :headache: The wait for the ferry is long, since they have one large boat that they are using in addition to the small one. The crowd at the ferry on Friday night was pretty testy!

Hope everyone is well :goodvibes

HEY!! Hope you are having a GRAND time:thumbsup2 Love the free wifi...can hope its around in Dec..have you stayed RPC? I would be interested in hearing your feedback comparing the two:)

We once opted to take the ferry back once, and folks were testy, and they had a choice then! lol

Zac - I can't be of much help as this is our first GF reservation, but I CAN tell you that we took our 2 children when they were 9 mos old and 2 1/2 years old. We had a truly amazing time with them and I was shocked at how much they could do/ride and what a sincerely great time they had. They do not remember the trip, of course, but we look at pictures with them and talk about it!

My big advice for taking such a little one is to BE PREPARED. Make sure one of you carries (into the parks with you) snacks, water, more than enough diapers, wipes, etc., as well as tylenol/motrin just in case. And the other key advice was to make sure your child can nap when napping is needed. Does he sleep in the stroller well? We actually bought a new stroller before that Disney trip so that both kids could sleep when needed and it was worth every penny!

Have a great trip!

Hi again everyone, and thank you for the warm welcome!

We are getting excited for our trip. For the person that asked (sorry, I'm so new to the site I can't figure out how to go back and find the person's name!), we are in Perth, in Western Australia... "the most geographically isolated capital city in the world," as it has been called.

Thank you all for the great advice re: rooms. I may just opt for the octagonal rooms (the view!!!), as a balcony isn't terribly important to us.

Our toddler is on a pretty normal schedule as far as naps goes. I would say he's only on an afternoon nap schedule (because he has been for the last several months), but suddenly today he's decided to take a morning nap, so who knows. NORMALLY he will take one immediately after lunch, and we're making our lunch dining reservations with that in mind. Nana has offered and will be available to take him back to the room for a nap any time. But seeing as how we live in Australia and she in the U.S., I suspect she'll just want to cuddle with him rather than getting him into a nap due to lack of "Nana time." Anyway, that's a bit off the point. He has slept well in his stroller before (when we've been on a long layover in Singapore), but only when completely wiped out. We're bringing a (Chicco) stroller with us that converts to a lay-down position... so I guess we'll see how well that goes. Hopefully we'll be mostly over jetlag by the time the Disney leg of the trip arrives (10 days after arriving in the U.S.).

Thanks again, everyone. We're looking forward to being "wowed" this trip by a beautiful property and outstanding service... as well as the magic of being at Disneyworld.

If you are driving your own car or are arriving by limo, they will ask your name at the gate and alert concierge CM of your arrival. If you are on ME, get off the bus and go to the concierge desk at the entrance and a CM will meet you there.

Thank you!!! :goodvibes
