WELL, if money is not a huge consideration, I would go ahead and do the RPC, but if you are hesitant about the difference in $$, then I say at least split. :cool1:

I know that RPC is awesome, but only YOU can decide if the cost is justified for your family.
I am sure you will want to go back   and could stay RPC next time. :rolleyes1

I am sure this is hard for you to decide :confused3 :badpc:

Bottom line...what does your gut and woman's intuition tell you?! :flower:

I know your trip will be awesome and unforgettable no matter what! :bounce:

Thanks. I'd do all 8 nights if it were available. Unfortunately, it's not available for Dec 1-4. So I'd rather take the last 3 nights and hope that it opens up. Appreciate the advice. I want to do it, but I'm afraid DH will think it is pointless to move to the main bldg (too much trouble).

OH! Understand about the hubby! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Personally, I HATE HATE to pack and unpack for trips or moving, etc! YUCK!

But, if you think the experience is worth the moving I would do it. BUT, you also need to know and expect how your hubby will react. Do you think that he would be ok once he gets there and thank you later?! :love2:

Probably not... BUT I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! :guilty: And I know the kids won't care if we're in the main bldg or not... BUT I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! :guilty:

That's really my dillema. Do I book the move and tempt fate with DH? Or just stay put in SL and have a great trip. I just don't want to think about it every time I walk in that lobby!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

You are JUST like me..indecision and second guessing with everything! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

If it will eat you alive, then take the plunge, I say. Does your hubby want you thinking about THAT your whole trip??!!

Triplefigs,

What a hard decision. Since we are a party of 3 adults I can't advise about moving with those trips!

Why don't you talk to hubby and tell him how you feel about it? We are doing RPC because I think this is going to be our last trip for a while. It is getting harder and harder for me and my brother to get time off at the same time...so we are doing what we call our "dream trip"...AKL for him and GF for me.

Since I am pretty weird about keeping a neat room....dirty laundry folded into extra large gift bags....all souveniers consolidated into one place...etc....moving would not be a big deal for me. Plus if you are packed up won't bell services move your bags for you? Maybe hubby and the kids could do something together the day of the move and you be responsible for the move? Then is would be less chaotic....and maybe you could set up some surprises for everyone?!

Hope you make the best decision you can...I know what I would do :)

Thanks so much for the information about the GF. I haven't been at my computer for a while!!
I have decide for the upgrade to the GF. We decided to go with the concierge at SL and when I called the first time to get a price quote I wasn't very happy with my CM. She just wasn't too helpful. I decide to run the numbers by my DH instead of booking with her and I am so glad I did. I called back less than 5 minutes later and talked to a really wonderful CM. She had everything booked and then decided to check all of thier promotions for me.... She ended up saving us $1,000!!!!! :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc During the time that we are there, end of september, there is a free dining package. We had purchased the dining package for 4 people and ended up getting it for FREE! I ended up with a credit. So changing for poly to the GF and upgrading to concirge is LESS money because the second CM told me about the deal.
I was excited before and now I can't wait for our trip. Not only is my daughter excited about breakfast with cinderella, but it is free!! princess: The twins are asking every day if we can go to Mickey's house. :earsboy:

Is this something that was set up special for you or do all RPC rooms get some type of gift? I hope that isn't a stupid question but if not I would LOVE to set up something like this for my brother's room and the room Mom and I will share!

Meezers, my uneducated guess is that a standard welcome item in a main building concierge room is a small bowl of fruit and a bottle of spring water. That is only a guess on my part, however, and it will be nice to hear what another RPC guest has found in their room.

Since my family is repeat guests at the Grand Floridian, we have found some lovely things in our rooms over the years. One of these days, I hope to share the fun items that we received during our Fairy Tale Weddings stay at the resort last fall. (I will try to find the time to post the photos soon.)

For example, for those of you who have seen the Grand Floridian show on the Travel Channel, you probably remember the elaborate box of chocolates that Samantha Brown found in one of the resort's suites. Well, we found that same box in our room one night and it was truly lovely (and filled with lots of chocolate truffles). On another night, we found a chocolate bottle of champagne and chocolate champagne flutes. The champagne flutes were dusted in gold and were filled with chocolate truffles. The whole presentation was beautiful. It was such a fun surprise to find waiting for us.

It is hard for me to share some of the things that my family has experienced because I honestly do not know where they came from (I do have my guesses, though, especially when it came to last fall's treats for my vow renewal). I only share what I do because I ~think~ many of these items may be ordered via the Grand Floridian's Private Dining folks. A phone call to them should answer that question (and also let you know what other fun treats may be ordered).

From my experience, there isn't a "standard gift" given to RPC guests. We did not have anything in our room when we arrived. However, concierge can set up anything that you may want.. including these chocolates.

It may be different when you are having a wedding there, but we didn't have this happen for our honeymoon... and we were in a RPC honeymoon room. We did recieve a card from mickey and minnie a few nights in and a bottle of champagne about half way in. But I don't think that the chocolates are "standard" by any means.

Lives4Disney, I hope you have a Grand vacation. Sorry, I couldn't resist! ;) I guess by now you have left the Dolphin. I hope the RPC is magical for you.

Janet, thank you and your daughter for all of the pictures. I love looking at the SL pictures. I really think they need to add a TV to that lounge. It doesn't make sense with all of the flat screen TVs out now. It is possibly the only full service CL without a TV.

Tammi, Congrats to your son. What a great accomplishment! Was that from Lake Pacid?

Triplefigs, I understand your dilemma. Lead with your heart and your husband will follow! :rotfl: Sounds good on paper, right?

After a rough year my wife and I are visiting WDW in November December for 17 nights from Scotland (up until now we stayed off site or at Pop!). We're arriving November 25th and spending 13 nights at the Poly with meal plan (GV) and 4 nights at the GF (LC - no meal plan).

All bookings confirmed now so a couple of questions (forgive me if Im making a faux pas) but 1) How soon should I contact the GF Concierge Team to arrange the Wildlife Adventure Safari etc and 2) Is it a "no no" to request their assistance with ANY aspect of my stay at the Poly (e.g. problems getting an ADR etc.)

Thanks

Colin

Hi Colin, sounds like this is a much deserved vacation. Feel free to contact the concierge team at your convenience. They typically do have to wait until the 90 day window for any of your ADR's and tours, but they can enter them into the system as a pending item and switch them to confirmed at the appropriate time.

I don't think there are any set in stone procedures for assisting guests with a split concierge/non-concierge stay. It's entirely up to the staff. I would definitely ask them and go from there.

Best of luck with your vacation plans.

I remembered that Mr. Disney posted pictures of his chocolate box filled with chocolate cigars that the staff left them. I think it's a few pages back on this thread.

Lori, yes the picture in my signature is from Lake Placid. If you want to follow this link, there's an awesome picture of one of their lifts, http://www.ice-dance.com/events-results/reports/lakeplacid05/juvenile/photos/freedance/McMc.jpg .

Amazing photo. I'm sure you must be so proud of him!

Thanks. I've decided that a move is not worth the hassle. I'd rather just enjoy SugarLoaf and hope for the bigger lodge room. This will just be incentive to book RPC and go back at Christmas again!

Actally Mr. Disney arranged it with concierge.
HEY....you guys talking about me?!?!? :earseek: :earseek:

yes I did arrange it through Concierges, BUT.....if you are staying at the Grand, you can arrange for it also through Private Dining. I think they need like 48 hours notice.

LOL, sorry... I wanted to make it clear that this was not done *FOR* you by concierge, but by you *THROUGH* concierge. Otherwise, there are a ton of people out there who have been jipped by concierge! ;)

Actually, it's sort of like towel animals. I would never feel like I was being jipped if there wasn't something left in my room by the staff. Sometimes special things are done for repeat guests, or you just chalk it up to Disney magic. We've stayed in a number of concierge rooms and I have an especially lovely momento from the YC staff and I think at the GF, we got a fruit bowl and water one time and a complimentary bottle of champagne when we were celebrating an anniversary on another trip.

I also didn't mean to imply that Mr. Disney's chocolate was a standard gift, only that it was a unique item that could be arranged through the staff. Sorry to be the cause of the misunderstanding.

Tammi

Very true....the special desserts that we had i June were actually paid for by us on our plan that we were on at the time. I have had special things given to us during concierge stays though also, but don't ever assume we'll be getting something like that.
