I've been catching up on the posts and noticed a few questions on the SL and their concierge service. If anyone is interested, there's a link to my SL trip report in my siggy, which has lots of pictures that I took of the rooms and daily food offerings. :)

Triplefigs, I'm so glad to finally see a picture of your triplets! They're all so adorable!

Sounds like a lot of wonderful trips being planned. <sigh> Hopefully after this baby comes, I'll be able to think about planning a trip, too! :cool1:
WOW I loved your photos and I had no idea that concierge level at the GF was so plentiful with the food! Holy smoke those early evening snacks would be a dinner in my book. Great pictures and now I am thinking concierge for us..... hmmm.... Oh and my littlest will be one on Feb.18th great day for a baby! hint hint

Thanks so much for all your info everyone! This board is awesome and I'm so happy to be able to learn all these things ahead of time. :flower:

I want to book our rooms in the next week or so, just in case they fill up fast for the holiday season. I don't think we will be able to do concierge this trip because my parents are coming and they don't really want to splurge this trip. I was thinking about doing a Lagoon view room and I was wondering if any of those rooms have a view of the MK and the castle. I realize all I can do is request one if they do and hope for the best, but I was hoping that it's at least a possibility.

Has anyone stayed in Lagoon view and has a suggestion for where we should request. My dad is also hoping to be as close to the main building as possible (so he can easily get his coffee in the morning ;) )

I appreciate your input! Can't wait to stay here!

Thanks!

Request a lagoon view room in Sago Cay. We've had lagoon view rooms in both Sago Cay and Big Pine Key and IMHO the Sago Cay one was far superior. We had a dead on view of the castle and it was wonderful. Sago Cay is also closest to Gasparillas for your dad's morning coffee. Make sure you get a refillable mug!

If you want to spend less money Sago Cay marina side have wonderful views and they are only considered garden views.

Anybody know where there are pictures of the Deluxe concierge rooms in RPC? I looked at the ones that Janet2K has on her site. Are there any more to look at?

Thanks.

BTW, where has Janet been lately? Anyone hear from her?

We are BOOKED for RPC!!! 12/14/ - 12/20! I am so excited because we got it at the AAA rate! Now, mabye AP rates will come out so we can save a little more!

Triplefigs,
I was also looking at a Deluxe Concierge but I know there are no MK views so I stuck with a regular concierge room and requested a MK view! Of course that's not guaranteed either but we'll cross our fingers! We'll look forward to seeing you all in the lounge! :flower:

Ojo,
We've had great lagoon views from Sago Cay,Boca Chica and Big Pine Key! Sago is closest to Gasparilla's for coffee, but Big Pine is closest to the Main Building. Boca Chica was our personal least favorite because you had to walk around the pool but mabye we are just lazy! Have a great trip!

I know I should look thru the posts but are the fridges a full mini bar or are they empty? If mini bar can you set it all out and put in your own?
Thanks again just couldnt bear too look thru all and search only brought up from early 2005.

New to this thread read the last 10 pages and have a few ??'s
1. We are staying at the GF as part of a 7 day land sea package. What type of room do we get?
2. Are there any type of special requests that can be made with that type of room?
3. How long dose it take to get to MK by boat? Monorail?
4. What is something that is a must do while at the GF?

We are a family of 4 ds9 dd4

Hi Masterrocks,

I am not sure what kind of room you will get - someone else can probably answer that ... but as far as the other questions:

Monorail to the MK is approximately 5 minutes - just one stop away - on the return trip it is more like 20-25 minutes.

Must do at the GF -- for my family we generelly eat at the character meal they host. I do know that there is also a kids pirate cruise and a Alice in Wonderland type of lunch for kids.

Thanks,

Starrin

matsterrocks, you'll have a garden view room with the land/sea package. You can request marina view in the Sago Cay building (it's considered garden). The GF is the final monorail stop before the MK, so the average time is about 2 minutes. The boat is a little bit longer going to the MK because the route is MK - GF- Poly - MK. We usually monorail to the MK and then take the boat back.

amhgbh, just request an empty fridge from mousekeeping and you won't have to worry about emptying the mini-bar or trying to squeeze items in. We kept ours right under the vanity in the bathroom.

Thanks again Tammi and there will be no extra cost for the extra?

No, the extra refrigerator is free of charge. They also brought us a microwave and coffee maker free.

I am truly pathetic...I am now fully packed except for curling iron, comb and brush!

Very sad...

You're not pathetic! Just lucky. ;) Have a great time!!! And take lots of pictures!

A comment to make about the character dining at GF--I've heard 1900 Park Fare is a good place to character dine if you have little boys in the group, as it usually includes Prince Charming (the dinner does), but when DH and I saw this place, we actually crossed it off our list. It looked EXTREMELY crowded and crazy. I just felt like the room it was in was VERY small for the number of people/characters they packed in there. Just my personal opinion. On the other hand...the Perfectly Princess Tea party looked SO FUN! If I'd had a girl, I'd have done that in a heartbeat. Don't expect a lot of food for your money, but the atmosphere looked so sweet and perfect, and ALL the girls were so excited to dress up and get their dolls and crowns. If I had a girl, that would definitely be on my list of things to do at the GF.

Thanks for the compliments on my pics to those who looked! It was so much fun to put together, although every time I look at it now, I go into withdrawal. ;) But Cass, don't even talk to me about those cheese trays--I love cheese, but being pregnant, all those yummy-looking soft cheeses were off limits to me. Waaaaaaaah.

Java...please don't wish me to be 2 days overdue!! I feel like a beached whale now! :rotfl:

Dose anyone have a price list of recreational activites at GF? Also for the kids pirate party and any other extras offered at the GF?

Thanks for the great pictures! I think we are going to book SL for most of our 7 day June trip with my parents. We need 2 rooms and RPC is a little pricey for them. We will stay RPC for the first 2 nights before my parents arrive. The kids are a little bummed that we won't be in RPC the whole trip because they loved it so much last month ,but we will be staying there in Dec. so I think we'll be fine! You have gotten us very excited about staying SL now! If you have any other tips, advice, etc. about SL I'd love to hear them! Thanks again!

HI again :earsgirl: -

We are ready to book our trip and I was wondering if most of you just book directly with DW or do you use a favorite travel agency? WE used Dreams Unlimited last time and they were great, but I wasn't sure if it's just as logical to do things on your own? Dreams Unlimited did all of our dining calls, etc. and that was very convenient.

Just wanted to see what you all recommend and if you have a favorite that you could suggest.

Thank you SO much! I'm so excited already and it's not until next November! :jumping1:

We did the Grand Floridian character dining last Nov and were very disappointed. My grandaughter was thrilled with Cinderella n Prince Charming!
But the service and the food were not good. It was over crowded for sure and they could not handle the crowd. They were more worried about taking breaks then pleasing the customers. I usually try to find the best in everything, however this is one I will never do again
