If you need a guaranteed non-smoking room, you need to notify them that it's due to a medical condition.

I want to say that the standard smoking rooms are confined to one floor in Big Pine Key, but I'm not positive.

The building request is really a matter of personal choice. You may want to be closer to the pools, so Boca Chica or Big Pine Key would be good for you. If you want something on the quiet side, Conch Key is nice. I think Sago Cay is one of the best buildings because of it's proximity to the main building and bus transportation. No matter which building you get, you're not more than a 5 minute walk from anything.

Some lagoon view rooms will have a castle view, but they are not guaranteed. There are just as many rooms that overlook the beach and Polynesian instead. A lagoon view room request in Sago Cay or Conch Key might increase your chances of a castle view.

Corner rooms can be requested and it all depends on what the occupancy level of the resort is. Sometimes in the slower seasons it's much easier to grant requests.

Nearly all the rooms at the GF have balconies. There are a few exceptions, such as the honeymoon turret suites in the main building and the lodge tower rooms on the top floor of the outer buildings. Dormer rooms, which are also located on the top floors have smaller, more private balconies. They are pretty closed in though and it's difficult to see anything while you're sitting down. The other balconies are larger and more open. There is a privacy panel that seperates your balcony from your neighbors.

What does AP mean and is calling Disney, to book, the best way to go? The reason I ask is we just did 2 Disney cruises and we booked thru Disney then transfered the ressies to a Disney agent who then saved us a bunch of money.

AP stands for annual passholder. I prefer to book with Dreams Unlimited. They specialize in all things Disney and are always on the lookout for discounts. With the computer glitches that seem to plague the Disney website and central reservations, I feel more comfortable going through an experienced Disney TA.

Thanks Tammi. I have read almost the whole thread and the rooms you listed many times, 4301-4309 and 4401-4409, are they under the "deluxe concierge"? We are taking my DD3 for her 4th Bday, including the Aurora Tea Party, and we want the best view of the castle and we want concierge. I take it that Dreams Unlimited can get you a specific room # (or range of #'s). Is this correct?

The room numbers I listed are standard concierge rooms. We have 5 in our group, so we've never been able to take advantage of the deluxe rooms. I can't quite figure that one out, more room, but less occupancy. DU can put in a room request for you as well as take care of your dining requests. If you are staying concierge, then you can also deal directly with the pre-planning or IPO (itinerary planning office) for all your needs. They'll note your room request and customize your itinerary with dining, tours, tea parties, fireworks cruises, etc. Even when I book through DU, I let them continue to search out discounts while I talk to the Disney concierge staff myself.

I ask myself this question all the time. Even when my DH told me a Disney World vacation was not an option, I still convinced him to take the Disney cruise instead. There's just nothing better.

Oh Yea, My DW and I were not interested in a "boozing, partying, gambling boat!" and then we met a couple who had been on a Disney cruise and found the DIS boards. Boy were we wrong. The cruise was fantastic and not a drunk in sight! on both cruises (Sept, 04 and Jan, 05). We even go to The Disney Hilton Head Resort rather than Myrtle Beach which is only 65m away!

When you fill in their on-line reservation request form, you'll see a few spots where they ask if you are an annual passholder, Disney visa customer or AAA member. Just fill in everything that's applicable to you. They'll search and come up with the best available rate. Sometimes a code that Disney offers will be better than AAA.

There is wireless internet available in the lobby and in the convention center. There is also wired high speed internet available in the rooms themselves. The charge is $9.95 per 24hr period. Cables can be requested through housekeeping.

Our first Christmas trip and our 2nd as a family...we were there right after 9/11....so, this will be an experience.

I'm so jealous that everyones visiting my "home" and I'm not even going to be there. Me thinks I'm going to have to look into a January getaway. Something tells me that the kids won't let DH and myself go alone this time though.
