Hi!

Glad you had a GREAT time!

I do have a question, not directly related to your trip (well not at the moment), can you tell me how to post pictures or point me to where there are some instructions?

Have some pictures I've been trying to post but can't seem to get it right.

Thanks!

Here are a few room pictures:

I uploaded my photos to Photobucket (you can open a free account). You just have to make sure your photos are sized right before you import them to Photobucket (mine were 800 x 400). You post as usual but you want to copy and paste your photos using the IMG... label at the bottom of each photo in Photobucket. I just hid my post and went back and forth between the Dis and Photobucket. I'm sure there's a more efficient way!

You can also go on the Technical board here at the Dis and there are step by step instructions under "how to post a photo". Hope that helps!

oh dear...
i shouldn't have come into this thread...
i was all set to make reservations at pop century for the quickie trip that DD and i will take to WDW in a few weeks...
but now i came in here and my GF bug seems to be rearing its ugly head...
i mean, how can i even THINK about staying somewhere else??????

by the way minniesota, in your pictures there is a carriage and women with parasols....what is that?

The carriage is Cinderella's coach and the henchmen were leading it around to the front of the Grand to pick up a bride. I just happened to be looking out on my balcony when I spotted it!

This photo is of the GF Maid Parade which I think happens every morning as housekeeping starts their day. It appeared that two children were leading the parade with balloons and a banner. They had thei picture taken and looked like they received a certificate perhaps. Not sure how they were selected.

I also caught this carriage from the balcony but am not sure what is is used for. My guess is maybe it brings the groom to the wedding pavilion. My daughter has informed me that she now wants to get married at the GF!:bride:

I'm going crazy!!!!! We leave in less than 24 hours and everytime I check the weather it's changed. Now its back to thunderstorms and rain everyday:confused3 Guess we'll throw in extra ponchos and just go with it. We've always been so lucky with October weather.

This time tomorrow I'll be checking in at the Grand!!!!!!!:cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :cheer2:

Minniesota - Thanks for posting the beautiful pictures.:goodvibes

I am glad it was one of your best trips ever. We have had a few of those!;)

We saw the Cinderella Carriage one trip, too. Isn't it so pretty??!! How special would that be? My girls also informed DH and myself that THAT is what they want, too. I'd say ME TOO if I weren't already married.:)

Your room pics are nice. I suppose the new colors are growing on me. Do you think the new daybeds are larger than those old ones?? I hope so - it looks like it, but just checking. DS17 was scrunched up last trip, but he can sleep anywhere & no complaints......except the BWI sofa beds, haha.....he chose the floor over those.:sad2:

Thanks again for all the great photos and info.:flower3:

Thanks so much for the great photos, especially of the RPC lounge! Glad you had a wonderful trip! :)

I think the daybeds are longer and were comfortable to sit on. No one slept on it in our group, however.

I do think the new rooms will grow on you. I miss the Disneyesque feeling of the old rooms but these are really very nice. What I really love are the new carpets especially in the lobbies and hallways. Geek that I am, I have some examples:

We were lucky and squeezed our trip in between tropical depressions. It was raining every day before our arrival last Thursday. It cleared out and we had beautiful weather and not a raindrop. We could tell yesterday morning the humidity was back with a vengeance and they were predicting rain again. Just take your ponchos and be ready for it. You may be surprised and this will pass quickly!

Have a great trip!!!

Oh I absolutely love the GF. We haven't stayed there since our honeymoon back in 96. I took this shot from the gift shop and it's one of my favorites.

Minniesota - WOW!! You took some great pictures! I'm like Channing, I still don't know about the new rooms. Just a little beige for me, but I am reserving final judgement until we go in Dec.

I am glad you got to see the Cinderella Carriage, it is very beautiful. I wish I would have had it now, but at the time I couldn't justify $2500 for 30 minutes! :scared1: As for the Landau carriage, you can also use that for weddings. Maybe it was on it's way to pick up a bride too. :confused3 They are all so beautiful.

It looks like you had a great time. Thanks for the great pictures!! Really makes me homesick!

Minnesota: Awesome pics! What a wonderful way to start my day, thank you!! Glad to hear you had such a good time. :goodvibes

Just practicing posting photos . . .

the Grand Floridian from our room in the CR Tower in June 2006

krbq: Neat photos! That was so nice to see the difference. From that view, the Grand is just Grand! I love the older photo because you can look out and see the miles of land they have that isn't developed!

It also brings back memories of my youth in Florida! Moved when I was 21 to the Northeast (my parents retired up NORTH, go figure) and it is beautiful around here, but I still love the flatness of Florida and I am so amazed how Disney can make those ugly looking pine trees look beautiful!

Thanks for the photos!
