Cinderella Fan, Thanks for the GV info. In the past, I have only stayed value & once at POR, so I think any GV room will be great for us!! You mentioned about the length of the walk to busstops, etc....have you ever stayed value? If so, can you compare a walk from GV to the main building or busstop vs. a walk at the value, say any POP bldg to the busstops? Just wondering...

Also, is it true to say that the mini bars are now gone? I was starting to look forward to the convenience of having them but seems I read that they are gone as part of the rehab?

We stayed in RPC last Christmas and saw her in her dress in person a couple times....She was beautiful & so was her dress. It was so neat meeting a fellow GF Diser right there at the Grand!

Cinderella Fan - BEAUTIFUL pics! Bump up for the minibar question & what you thought about all the walking distance around the GF......

SLDL, all the lodges are within a few minutes walking distance. I mean like 5 to 7 max between any lodge building and bus, boat, monorail transportation and pools, too.

Thank you both so much! It was my dream dress. I honestly felt like a princess in that dress. Once, we were having our pics taken on the GF staircase, and the photographers battery dies in his flash. While he ran to his car, Dh went upstairs to ask some family to keep people from coming down the stairs, as they were in the middle of our pics. I stepped off to the side by myself, and a little girl came up to me and asked me for my autograph. Her mother asked her what she was doing, and she replied so profoundly "Duh, Mom. I am getting Cinderella's autograph" I about died from laughter.

As for the walk, I have stayed at a Value, however that was almost 6 six years ago. While I don't remember exactly how far it was, I can say that the walk was MUCH closer at the GF than they Values, and even the mods.

Like I said, I didn't have a newly refurbished room, we did have the mini bar. Channing, at one point BG pulled all of the liquors out of the drawer and put them on the bathroom counter. He said he was trying to set up his own Concierge. I can personally say it wasn't the same...

Thanks Denise! February is supposedly a big month for weddings, being Valentine's Day and all. There shouldn't be a problem seeing a bride somewhere.

I hope your stay at the GF is wonderful. And, what cute little ones you have. I have always wanted twins or triplets. Maybe one day...

Thanks for the sweet comments. I am so lucky to have my kiddos! And be careful what you wish for. I said the same thing and surprise, surprise, surprise! Although, I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

I have heard conflicting information on the taping dates for Disney's ABC Christmas Parade this year. Has there been an official press release or Disney Related Website that addresses the taping dates?

Last year the dates were Friday Dec. 1st to Sunday Dec. 3rd. The traffic jam at Main Street USA is best described by the following emoticon...

Wondering if the dates will be Nov. 30th - Dec. 2nd or the second weekend of Dec. on the 7th - 9th.

Tomorrow begins our 7 week countdown...

We just got home last night from the Grand and got a lovely surprise! We booked a standard room at AP rates but when we checked in, they upgraded us to the main building, turret suite for our entire stay! I have no idea why other than it was my birthday but we believe there was a lot of extra rooms because during our 7 days we hardly saw anyone in the hallways or hanging in the concierge.
We didn't ask for the upgrade nor have we ever received an upgrade except for a free night due to having a wedding at Disney but this trip was a blast!

I'm afraid to give RPC a try it would make it soooo hard to stay anywhere else.

Nothing official yet, but I've heard from a band parent who has someone marching in the parade and they were told the taping is on Saturday the 1st, with the 2nd reserved for weather delays and any re-shots that need to be done.

We just bought & had delivered to us a desk, chair, and armchair from the GF rooms being refurbished. They're selling off the Conch Key furniture right now, and Conch Key is the only building besides the main lodge that we've stayed in, so we thought it was appropriate that we get the furniture. Our house here in FL is nearly complete (whoopee!), so it was good timing for us. Now our library will have a small flavor of the GF.

We wanted the armoire, but, with the way our guest bedroom is laid out with a bay window, there wasn't any good place to put the armoire there that wouldn't block the view of our lovely oaks.

That's pretty cool!

I think you can get it just fine. I opted for the wired in our room, but on occasion, I took my computer to the lounge to look at my pictures while I listened to the band and a pop-up would ask if I wanted to join the wireless network. So, my computer was picking it up. I didn't join because that would have been my second $9.95/day since they charge separately for the wired and wireless services.
