GO FOR IT! ;)

Channing -- excellent news! Thanks for the update!
You're no help! :rotfl: I just worry that Rees would be upset. It would be much better to have the GF at the end of the trip. I'm thinking I should leave it alone and just book a GF RPC trip for another time. Aww, poor me. More DISNEY! :rolleyes1 :cool1:

I was told the same thing about my August 18-26 RPC stay.

:rotfl: Ok, where were all you guys with that info??:rotfl:

I just got back and was told by a RPC CM (July 4) that things had changed to Nov/Dec....RPC was supposed to be first, but the schedule changed.....looks like suddenly it's changed back! Disney has really kept this GF rehab under wraps even from the CMs.:sad2: Not sure what gives with that.:confused3

Happy travels & have wonderful times & take lots of pics to share! Can't wait to see if the RPC rooms look different than Conch. (I hope so;) )

There is one night available at the very end of your stay, but probably not worth switching for.

9/28-29:

LV: $400 ($355/night)
Theme Park: $434 ($385/night)
SL: $462 ($410/night)

Thanks, Lindsay! If y'all happen to see that dates at the end (9/25 or 26 to 9/29) open up, please let me know. I think for Rees we should start at the CR, but I would love to spend a few days at the GF!

SO excited about Lives4Disney's RPC renovation news:banana: I will be checking in next month and would love to have everything fresh and new:thumbsup2 Too bad I don't care for the new rooms:idea: The newest photos just DON'T leave me excited. What's with the recliner?? I guess people requested a comfy chair...
HALLELUJAH!! about the iHome units:yay: Nice upgrade:cloud9:

I'm trying to extend my stay but there is basically only availability at YC LVCL. Should I do it?? I think it's 435/night plus tax Passholder discount... I gave up my CR Atrium Club b/c my friend can't come:guilty: and I was thinking GF RPC for 4 nights would be plenty but 4 nites just ISN'T enough. What to do? What to do?

Will do! :thumbsup2 I check for my times earlier in the month (I keep hoping Jonathan will experience a moment of weakness, and let me switch to GF!), so I will just add your dates to my search. I will PM you if I find anything. :goodvibes

Glad to hear that Rees did well today - hope you guys get some answers soon.

I am not sure if the chair was a recliner....just a chair and ottoman as far as we knew. If it was a recliner, we never reclined, my DH just thought it was a nice place to sit and relax and not on the bed.

Sorry :rolleyes1 that was just me being a B-I-T-C-&; I don't like the look of that chair but what do I know?? They had to renovate and did the best they could, taking into account, I'm sure, what guests tended to want/request/complain about. I just can't wait to be there in a couple of weeks:banana:

I agree the chair does not fit the decor, not very "victorian". I did talk to a couple of CMs about the decor and these particular CMs didn't think the new decor in general was "victorian" and I had the feeling they preferred the old decor. Have a great trip....renovated room or not I am sure you will have a great time. I think the GF as a whole is a lovely resort.

I think the new decor is ugly. The latest pics on this thread are better than the first set I saw, not sure why - maybe just the lighting in the photos themselves, but I don't care for that shiny chair either. It looks very unstylish and outdated and OLD. ....haha. Not cute or charming or vintagey Victorian, just old and blucky. I like the chair ottoman idea for comfort, but the upholstery is ugly IMO.

That picture hanging over the sofa is so wrong, too. Wrong shape, wrong height ..... The room design just isn't pulled together. It looks awkward to me but I still love the GF and hope not all the rooms will have the same Conch decor.

Thanks, Lindsay. I'll keep my fingers crossed for BOTH of us!

Hi All! I have been lurking on the GF thread a little while! We are staying at the GF GV for 4 nights in August (free dining), then doing 1 night on FL residents rate.

Can I ask where you got those rates (especially the ones in parenthesis)? The FL res. rate I was quoted for LV was $405.00 (GV was not available). I would love to save a bit of money if possible.

We are very excited for our first stay at the GF after visiting the WL, AKL and CR   !!

Those are Annual Passholder rates for value season. The number in parantheses is the discounted room rate per night, and the leading number is the total discounted cost of the reservation, with hotel taxes included.

The things we do for our kids- huh Denise!!

Do you think they ever really realize the sacrifices we make for them??? :rotfl:

I really wish Heather had mentioned this "unadvertised view" to GF management. Since she was unhappy with her view, which is a very important part of accommodations, she probably would have been offered another room or an upgrade.

I don't know why I would have had to mention my view to GF management; I believe it's their job to be aware of what rooms offer what views, not mine to inform them! :scared1:

It wasn't a huge deal - we just disliked the view, but decided to suck it up and pay for RPC for our next trips. My DH is very laid back and would have been upset if I made a commotion & asked to transfer rooms - I would never deliberately do something to upset my DH. I wasn't posting as in, "This is the worst thing ever, " but rather, "Why do they charge people for garden view and then give them dumpster view?"

Now I AM upset, though, about the RPC remodeling schedule. Of course, of COURSE they have to do this while we're there. Grrr... My DH and I just seem to have pretty bad luck with our rooms - dunno why, but there it is. I wonder how impacted the concierge services and the number of rooms available will be.

Cheers!
Heather W

I agree Heather
I see that sugar loaf is still coming up for Sept even though its scheduled to be closed. I dont know how you would keep that building open with food and have construction going. :confused3

I just called the GF to ask how, if at all, this will affect our stay. They said that they're doing the 5th floor right now, then 4th floor next week, then 3rd floor should be just about finished when we check in. We have a honeymoon room booked, and I hope we can still get the same room that we request every year, instead of the 2nd floor rooms. I'm keeping all of my fingers crossed!

Cheers!
Heather W

I have a Honeymoon Room (King-Deluxe RPC) booked as well and I can't WAIT!!!! A fresh new lounge should be nice too:thumbsup2 I call the Lazy Boy!!

Just booked YC Lagoon View CL for our last 2 nights. DD will be THRILLED that she gets to enjoy Stormalong Bay after all :cool1: It will be nice to finally stay at the YC...

Gina:

( OT kind of ..have you gotten a chance to check out all the new FF merchandise they have now at the MK? Some pretty cute stuff!)

Hi to all you extremely knowlegeable GF folks :goodvibes -

I'm looking for suggestions on what to do about an upcoming trip. Here's the story:

I have the GF booked (GV) for 7/24 and 7/25.
We will be on the Disney Wonder 3 night cruise 7/26 - 7/28.
We will be returning to the GF(again GV) on 7/29.

Here's the problem ... I am still trying to add on the night of 7/30 and have had no luck. I really need to do something at this point as we will be flying home on 7/31. I do have a 1BR at BWV for the nights of 7/29 and 7/30 just in case, but I really have my heart set on the GF !!!! This is a huge surprise for my mother who has always dreamed of staying at the Grand :cloud9: .

I find it so odd that on the night of 7/29, every single type of room is open for booking - from GV to 2BR suites, including Royal Palm Club !!! I was even able to reduce my room rate and apply a room only code to my reservation ... last night !! But the night of 7/30, nothing at all is available ???:confused3

Does anybody have any thoughts on why this night might be so hard to get? I'm wondering if it has anything to do with them holding back rooms due to the current situation at AKL and relocating guests???

Have you had success in getting a room added on to a reservation in the past ? If so, how did you do it?

Thanks for your advice !
