HOCKEYMOMR,

Great Pics!!! Thank you for posting them.

Did you have a dormer room? How did the size of this room compare to the BC/YC room. YC/BC always look bigger in the pictures, probably due to decor.

I was surprised to see that one bed looked like it butted up against the wall. Is that true or just the way it looks in the picture?

Also, forgive me if I missed it, but what builiding were you in?

Thanks!

I think the GF room seemed to be wider than the YC rooms, yes the bed was almost against the wall, but not all the way. Probably like YC, as YC has the little corner shelf. Yes, this was a dormer room, Conch Key - Theme Park View (not Magic Kingdom View - had to look at my paperwork :) ) loved it!

Lives4Disney - I think your son would be better on the new GF or Poly daybed. It is definitely longer and maybe a little wider than the one at YC, maybe not twin size but bigger than YC / BC. I am tall at 5'10" and tried the daybed at GF, I fit fine - but the queen bed is sooooo comfortable! Yes, the picture is off center above the daybed, I am a symetrical person as well, but overall I really liked the decor.

Here is another picture to better show is was a dormer room. Sorry about the darkness and my goofy son, as mentioned earlier DH went right for this chair:

HockeyMomR - thanks so much for posting the pics! Yours are so much clearer than the other ones out there currently. Good of you to keep your family at bay until you'd documented the visit! ;) :rotfl:

Couple questions for you:

1. Is that an iPod/alarm clock speaker system on the nightstand? It looks exactly like the one I have in my office, and that would be such a great addition to the room! :thumbsup2

2. How deep did you find the 4 drawers in the armoire (realizing you probably didn't unpack for the 1 night you were there)?

The room hasn't quite grown on me yet, although these pictures have helped some. It's really not even the actual colors that are bothering me at the moment; it's how much more crowded the room looks with all that furniture lined up along that wall - it's like they didn't quite get their measurements correct.

And that art work has got to go! Maybe they'll be replacing it, and just haven't done so yet. That picture over the daybed hanging like that just looks terrible. I just looked back on my room pics of the dormer room I stayed in in Conch Key, and the pics were switched from what they were in your pics - the GF one was over what was then the table and chairs on that one wall, and the one with the thumbnail images was on the wall by the bed. Even if they switched them to this, it would probably look better, since the GF picture is a landscape.

1. Yes, it is an iPod dock, my DS15 used it. He had his iPod speakers with him, but much easier to dock it right on the nightstand! Yes, great addition to the room, wish they all had this.

2. We did not open the drawers for the one night. We usually unpack, but not for the one night. I will say they must be pretty deep as next to them to the right is the refrigerator that we did use. There are also also two very small shelves in the closet under the unit where the safe sits.

Yes, it would make sense to switch the position of the artwork. Overall, I liked the decor, but I have nothing to compare it to as we had never stayed at the GF with the other decor. Hope this answers your questions.

Yes, it did - thanks so much! I do love the addition of the iPod speakers - that is a welcome surprise. :thumbsup2

Oh my goodness! That is exciting! :yay: :yay:

Do your sources have any idea how long it will take them? I am SO glad they won't be trying to do this over the holidays! (Although I guess it's never really a perfect time.)

They were definitely doing some kind of construction in the main building yesterday, it was very noisy - maybe pulling up carpeting on the 5th floor is where men were working as viewed from the lobby.

Lindsay, nobody knows nothin'.....this whole thing came as a surprise inconvenience, sounds like.:confused3 From what I heard during our stay it was to be Nov/Dec and they wren't doing much to the lounge.....not sure NOW what the lounge plan is at all.

Just thought you guys would want to know it is happening NOW!:cool1:

This whole GF rehab things just boggles my mind. It's like Disney is trying to pull this cloak-and-dagger operation to keep everyone on their toes. I almost wouldn't believe anything was actually going on over there, if there weren't finally pictures to prove it! I still can't figure out why none of the unofficial sites are reporting that the GF is being rehabbed. :confused3

Keep us posted, Channing!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks Channing!

I'm so excited that we all don't look like we were making up stories about the rehab!:rotfl:

For once , I'm glad I didn't book RPC for our quick trip next month. I definitely wouldn't want to hear hammers banging over the sounds of the orchestra!

Can't wait for December to see the new lounge and rooms!!

I wrote to IPO about a month ago asking about the rehab in the main building. I had been hearing rumors that it would be going on while we were scheduled to be there and wanted to avoid it. I got an email back saying the main building was scheduled for July/August and would definitely be complete on schedule.
It is strange that the rehab is kept so quiet, the AKL info is all over the place. Maybe the work at the GF is not as intrusive.

I know what you mean - The CR and Poly rehabs were listed just about everywhere and the GF has really been kept under wraps!!

I'm just glad it is actually happening!!
