Mr. Mike....I have had this same room before only on 1st level just a bit down the hallway to the left, toward the gazebo several times and it was a GV room. MAYBE due to this one being out toward the water it would be considered WV, but I paid AP GV rate for it. It wasn't the room they had me assigned in when I arrived, though. I requested gazebo view, they gave me Admiral pool view and I asked for Gazebo view and wound up with this room. I 100% prefer the YC room views from the BC views. YC standard can be so much better than BC standard.

Heather, You know I will get that awful Conch dumpster view in November. :rotfl:

is the GF excluded from codes, PINs, etc? I heard someplace that the GF doesn't "participate" in discounts? :confused3

I find it hard to believe, but thought I should ask to make sure :thumbsup2

They do have annual pass rates and AAA rates at various times during the year. The discounted rooms are very limited, though, so you have to be quick to book when the deal is announced.

Channing, Wonderful pictures! That is the chocolate plate I am ordering, but haven't decided on which character! The plate and cake looked delicious.
Your kids are darling! I look at your DS and think how close I am to the teenage stage-scary! (but, I'm sure it has lots of good parts, right?):)
We are just about over the character meals too! I definitely hear you on the screaming children! We are only doing 1900 for breakfast (crossing fingers it is good) and CRT (we have never done this one before).
I cannot believe our vacation starts tomorrow! We will take the dogs to the kennel  and drive over to Pittsburgh for the afternoon/evening. We really like Pit,; it is a fun little city and has my all time favorite Greek restaurant (shameless plug coming) Christo's. It is soooo good. Then we will stay in an airport hotel with park and ride, so we can easily make our 7:45 am flight!
I will try and take a lot of pictures to post too.

Jen have a GREAT time!!:wizard: As for teenagers.....ick. DS is in the doghouse right now because he spaced out and left our 25,000 gallon pool backwashing (draining)all morning and I just happened to look out the back window and see the shallow end had NO WATER in it at all.:scared1: He just doesn't seem to care about anything other than HIS stuff. My friends have the same issues with their teens. It's not pretty. :sad2: Good luck. :rotfl: Have a wonderful vacation & we all want to hear about it when you get back!

The buys w/purchase
that I saw were the totes for $10 w/$40(the new ones are nicer than the ones from last year w/embroidered detail), they have pirate watch & lithograph ($10 w/$40 purchase), framed pin set ($15 w/$75 purchase) ....didn't see the throws, but I know what you're talking about from last year. These 3 "deals" are the only ones I saw.

That is why i was glad to get our AAA discount on RPC for next month. It came to about $100 off a night and with our 9 night trip that it saved us about $970!!

All those fantastic pics got me in the mood to post some. These were from our VR honeymoon night in 2005. We stayed RPC room 4021.

I know some of these have probably been posted but....

How about some room view pics...
This room has a view of EVERYTHING!!

Great pictures, ladies. Thanks for posting. All five children are darling. :goodvibes

Heather, I'm trying to picture a dumpster view in Conch Key? Do you remember where the dumpster was?

I have seen rooms in Sago Cay that have sideways views of areas I would not want to view...but few rooms.

Someone talked about using the drawers only for a few things and hanging everything else. That's exactly what I do with my clothes but not with kids clothes...even my grown kids. Shorts, knit dresses which my daughter loves, etc. all work better in drawers IMO. Besides, we pretty much fill up the closet rod with just my clothes, husbands slacks and jackets. I request extra hangers on most trips as it is.

Jen, have a wonderful trip and a nice stay in Pittsburgh. It's such a nice city I think.

Wow, Mr. Mike...what great pictures. No wonder your wife was sad to leave!

Well, I was able to book a AAA MMyWay with DDP for Dec. and I was able to book it in May. We originally had our trip booked for CR but we moved over to the GF.

Nope, I am one of the lucky recepients of the infamous 40% off code and we also switched from CR to the GF. But the general public discounts are hard to come by at certain times of the year (especially the holidays since EVERYONE wants to stay there :santa: )

Heather, I'm trying to picture a dumpster view in Conch Key? Do you remember where the dumpster was?

This was about 4 years back, so it's been a while, but I *believe* it was to our left as we looked out of the balcony. We even got to see the trash pickup one morning; after hearing the beeps of the garbage truck, we went out on the balcony to see what was going on. It just was an unseemly reminder of the real world, which is so not what I want to be reminded of while I'm staying at the GF :) I can pretend I'm rich and pampered, and garbage trucks don't really fit in with this mentality. I don't even remember what room number it was, unfortunately, but I do remember that we had that view, b/c I remember the beeping & the garbage truck.

As I said, we'd stayed in Conch Key before and had marina views, but I just hadn't realized this particular view was a possible option with a GV room. And it's been 4 years, so maybe they've set up something to block that view - gosh, I hope so, anyway!

Cheers!
Heather W

hmp2z - As far as I know we have a Standard room booked, not sure where, I was hoping to put in a request for something.

That's right - I remember reading about your upgrade - what a nice wedding present! If you have the Private Dining meal on your balcony, you will probably have a garden view or else marina view, if you're getting a standard (garden view) room. Pretty much the only way to get a fireworks view (or at least an unobstructed one) from your balcony is to upgrade your view.

Cheers!

Hi Erica -- We have been able to get Annual Pass and Florida Resident discounts in the past. Of course, there is limited availability for these discounts at all resorts, and the more flexible you are with dates, the better chance of taking advantage of the offered discount. GF discounts do exist. There are probably other sources to get resort discounts, but when seek ing a discount, we use the two above.

Have a great day.

So I will ask my question here instead of the main forum.

I am currently trying to come up with support for my arguement that a longer (10 + days) stay in the summer will allow for more relaxation and pool time to counter the heat, humidity and commando tendancies of this planner :rolleyes1

GF RPC is definitely going to be a part of the trip but should it be our only resort choice? Is it possible to get tired of RPC after 13 nights, which is what I am hoping for? The trip isn't until '09 so I have plenty of time to save ;)

I have read the threads, and recent posts on the GF thread, about switching resorts, packing for the switch etc. and just really need input from some of you who visit the GF often and for longer periods of time.

I am afraid that DH might say that's too long to be in one place and too much hassle to switch!

Thanks so much!

Our longest stay in RPC has been 8 nights and I definitely could have stayed 5 more nights!! I could move into RPC, so no stay there would ever be too long for me!!:cloud9:

nope I stayed sugar loaf
all of my pics were of the tower room 6220 and it had a balcony
all of my lounge pics were of sugar loaf
If you are staying sugar loaf look for Robert he is the best!

We stayed in that room in April. I loved having the extra room. :thumbsup2 I thought the room looked familiar when I saw your pic's. Now you have made me home sick and I want to go back.:lmao:

We've stayed 6 nights in RPC, and it wouldn't have hurt our feelings a bit to stay another week, lol. I say, if you've got the budget, go for it!

On most of our trips we do a split stay. 7 days = 2 resorts 10 or more we have done 3. We actully did 4 thanks to our free honeymoon night in 2005.

Our trip in August to RPC will be the first time we have stayed 9 nights without switching. I'm thinking this will be a more relaxing trip, at least i'm hoping so.
I'm glad i've done split stays so many times because now i'm looking forward to not moving while staying at the GF

If I was staying for 2 weeks, I would probably switch resorts. As wonderful as it would be to stay RPC for 2 weeks, I would do a week-10 days at GF and the rest at an EPCOT resort, probably the YC. I just think having some time so close to EP and MGM would be worth the switch. Of course, if I could swing 2 whole weeks of RPC, maybe I wouldn't move at all:rolleyes1
I think no matter what you finally decide, you will have a wonderful, relaxing stay within that length of time!:)

Hello, I am hoping you guys can answer a few questions for me. Does anyone actually have pictures of the different theme rooms in the different buildings? I have seen Sayo Cay( which I don't like), the main building and the sugar loaf.
Big Pine Key is the resort closest to the main building right? Did it use to be a smoking building, I know the resort are now smoke free, but can you still smell it? I am hopefully planning to go this August, is there any rehabs for any of the resturants or anything else going on? Which building is your favourite? Thanks for your help.
