On our last trip, our room had a daybed for DD which she loved! It looks like a sofa and is between the armoire and the sliding glass doors. We only had 4 people but we got one. She said it was very comfortable and she thought it was great that she got her own turndown and chocolate! I am planning on requesting one on our next trip! I'm not sure how many GV rooms have the daybed but I would just request it. Have a great trip!:)

I was also wondering about Turndown Service. Do they fix up the daybed? I was wondering How I did that and if there are sheets in the room for that. Or do I have to call Mousekeeping. I think we will just put a request for a room with a daybed on the reservation. Thanks!

We had a sofabed in our room for our kids, it was made back up to a sofa during the day...at turn down is was turned down and chocolates were left on the pillow for the kids. I am sure it works the same way for the daybed if you request it at check in.

Marci~That basket is beautiful! I am still not certain what I am going to do special for my family. I am really leaning towards a plate of chocolate covered strawberries. Although now I think I will need champagne for DH and I too!!

If I call private dining in the next couple of days, will they put the chocolates in our room on our first night? Or would it be better to do this when I'm there and set it up as a surprise for an evening mid trip? Opinions needed please:)

My query got buried a couple pages back! I hope no one thinks it rude if I repost it for you guys!! I started seriously packing tonight. The kids and DH are almost done. We leave in 3 days for Pittsburgh then fly to WDW early Sunday morning! I am so excited I can't wait:dance3: :dance3:

Thank you k&a&csmom! I like the idea of having it delivered during the tea as opposed to having it sent to the room. Was it delicious? Or is it just a nice presentation?

Yes, the slipper was normal white chocolate, but the mousse (both in the slipper and the "boat") was delicious! DD did not want to share, lol.

Jen66, I would pick a night when you plan to be around the resort. Chocolate covered strawberries just don't keep that well so I would plan on enjoying them that evening.

What time do you check in? In my very limited experience with ordered surprises, the resorts don't place them in the rooms prior to check in. But if you will be checking in earlier in the day and then be out for a bit, it would be a great surprise.

You are so close. Have a truly magical time.pixiedust: We'll look forward to your report.

Jen, how exciting!!! Just a few more days to go!:cool1:

When I called private dining - which you should do tomorrow btw - they asked me when I would like the items delivered. I wanted them in the room when we arrived, but they would not do that so I had to choose a time after 3 pm (check in)......I asked for the treats for DH to arrive about 4 and the cake for DH and DD to arrive about 8 pm because I knew we'd be out of the room that evening and it would be a fun surprise to come back to. We were in the room getting settled when the treats were delivered at 4 and that was perfect timing. The cake was set up beautifully when we returned that eve - on the table w/a white tablecloth and 5 place settings.

Good luck with private dining. It was a painful phone call for me. They were pretty unhelpful. Have an idea of what you'd like and keep trying and compromising for it.

One thing....the tip will be included on the bill when your order is delivered. I almost WAY overtipped the CM that delivered the already overpriced platter of treats because I didn't notice...he kept me talking and distracted, lol. I need to post pics of the pretty things that I ordered. They were expensive but really pretty and yummy.

Happy & safe travels. Can't wait to hear all about your wonderful time at the GF and WDW.:wizard:

Channing :)

ok everyone

They are taking out furniture by the butt load outta Sago but there are no rooms done yet. I asked several people and they were all dying to see them to. They did have a barrier up around sago they were adding a gazebo type of structure to the side where staff comes and goes. They added one to sugar loaf our last day. I told Robert about the noice and he said it takes 2 weeks to build what he was doing. I would not want 6220 with all that noice going on.

As for our stay we got the tower room 6220 and it was fab!! The staff was great all around but Robert and Suzanne were the best. I can say enough great things about them. It was a truly magical stay and I loved it. The room was great the space was so GREAt to have. Once night the room was filled with ballons for us, the kids loved it. Thanks again Robert!

The cabana was great, my sons loved swimming daily in the pool. Chris helped us with the cabana and he was wonderful. We ate at several sit downs and I will add that in tomorrow.

Meeting Channing was truly delightful. Her family was so nice. Her girls are darling and her DH was funny. It was nice to chat with people who love the GF as much as I do. I have pics and will post those all tomorrow.

I havent read back to what I missed but saw a quick post about a GF chat thread and I am fine with that. I would also be fine with Tammi starting a new FAQ thread, between her Janet, Channing, and others and all our pics and such it could be a great resource for the DIS.

Great to be home but I miss the GF already.

So, does that mean it takes about 2 wks to renovate an entire building? We go Aug 26th so can we safely request Sago since they should all be done by then? is there a specific schedule/order and timeframe for the updates?

Welcome back Channing & Kelly! :grouphug:

Have a great time Jen! :dance3:

Look! I found rehab pictures!!!!

GF Rehab pics!!!

I think the room looks great! :thumbsup2

I love the daybed and the armoire with the flatscreen tv! Can't wait to see it in person in December!:cloud9:

Having never seen the rooms pre-rehab, I think it is beautiful! Again, I'm going to ask--does this rehab mean that even the GV rooms may be completed by, say, December?? I don't have much knowledge of the building names & views, etc. but am learning!! Our December trip seems just around the corner!

That poster was staying in Conch Key, which has a lot of garden view rooms. Sounds like a safe building request to get a new room (and is the building with all the room # placards already on eBay).

Thanks for posting the link, Michelle!

Anyone else find it interesting that the beds, nightstands, light fixtures, lamp, and some of the artwork appears to be the same? Not that I don't already find the current GF rooms just lovely, but I do find it interesting that they don't seem to be getting as extensive an overhaul as the CR, Poly, and WL already got.

She didn't take pictures of the vanity, though - wonder if there are any changes there!

Welcome home, Channing and Kelly! Can't wait to hear more about your trips, and to see pictures! :goodvibes

That sounds good to me! I requested a newly renovated room, which was my only request so we'll see how it goes!

Hi and welcome back Channing and Kelly! I can't believe my trip is in the single digits--9 days!

I am working on my touring plans and am hoping someone will detail for me how to get to Epcot, MGM and AK. My goal is to get to each of these parks about 30 minutes before opening. Any insider information on riding the busses will be helpful as well. One thing I am wondering is if it is quicker to take the monorail to the TTC then get on a bus from there to MGM or AK?
TIA!

You can pretty much track what is and isn't being replaced, furniture-wise, if you follow the auctions on Ebay. They're getting rid of GF armoires, desks, round tables, and armchairs only, so those are the only things being replaced - I can tell from the photo that beds & nightstands stay the same. Bummer for us - we live here, and picked up a few GF pieces, but it would have been nice to have an entirely GF bedroom :)

What a pity they won't have the main building renovated when we go in August, but I'd rather have the old furnishings than have to get bumped to an outer lodge! I really prefer the old armoires, though, where you could close them up and that way you couldn't tell there was a TV there. The new one looks like a dresser that they just attached a TV to.

Cheers!
