Channing, Conch Key has the Alice theme. And yes, there is turndown in all GF rooms. As I said, I am close to 100% sure there are robes in each room too.

I can understand not having kids robes. It could be a nightmare with demanding guests. "You have a robe that fits my 5yo...what am I supposed to tell darling Suzie who is 10.":)

Yeah but how cute would a little 5 YO boy in a mini GF robe look?
I totally understand them not having them...I'll have to let DS wear mine.

Is Conch Key the building right by the boat launch, just past the concierge building, and across from the quiet pool? If so that's where I was in Nov..I had a great view of the lake and the Monorail
I'm hoping to book the GF with free dining Thursday..I really have my fingers crossed...My DH just spent 9 weeks in the hospital and he deserves to be pampered. So do I for that matter.

I'm making ADR's for Narcoosees..Should I make them for Citricos too? IS Citricos good? Where is it located in the GF?

I have only eaten at Citricos twice. First time was my 40th bday in July and it was quiet and wonderful. Service was just fabulous. :wizard: We felt doted on! The food was delicious and perfect. The girls enjoyed their meals, also.

We loved it so much, we booked it for Xmas Eve dinner. It left me not caring to go back, unfortunately. It was crowded, LOUD, and service & food were really poor. Big difference I am sure due to the crowd, but we're not in a hurry to go back. We ordered pretty much the same dinners in Dec. as in July, but there was a big quality/taste difference over all. Also, in July they had my fav. wine. :) In Dec. it wasn't on the menu and I asked about it and was told "We haven't had that in years." Wrong. Had it 6 months prior. Just a very different dining experience.

For our Nov visit, I am going to give Narcoosees a try instead.

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :)

I love both of those restaurants. Just check the menus when you are there though. Our problem with both on some trips is that we can't find things to please all six of us. The menus are just shorter than years ago. But I also wouldn't decide just on posted menus on the internet. The menus at both do change.

Narcoossee's was a family favorite since the GF opened. We most often ate lunch there but loved dinner as well. We had a few not so great experiences a couple of years ago. Nothing horrible just that there are so many other options at WDW. Anyway, our older son, his wife and our daughter dined there in January and thought it was back to being a great dining choice. We're going back next trip.

I think you can request extra robes, too.

Yes, Conch is closest to the boat dock and past Sugar Loaf. Yes, you sound like you sure need some pampering!!! Good luck with the reservation. Hope you get what you want.:wizard: (need!)

Was your Conch room a GV or LV?? I know some GV rooms seem to have a partial LV.

We're going for Thanksgiving this year & I really don't mind what building I get. I think all the GVs (except a very few) have pretty views. Just curious about the diff decor & options.

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :)

It was a GV room and the view was really good...It almost seems like the cheapest view at the GF is nicer than some of the more expensive views at the other deluxes.
WE were there the week after Thanksgiving last year and it was great..Low crowds, the gingerbread house was up and there was a girls chorus in the lobby one day.

Oh, forgot. This is a busy thread this morning. Channing, we've only stayed in Conch Key, SL and RPC. But the first page of this FAQ says that Sago Cay is Swan and Boca Chica is Floral with the exception of 2 rooms which are historic.

Jenny, yes Conch Key is right by the dock and across from Narcoossee's. Good luck with your reservation and good health to your husband. That is sooo long to be in the hospital and I'm sure was so hard on the whole family.

Channing, we've eaten dinner at Citricos perhaps a half dozen or so times...maybe more. Anyway, one of those was Christmas Eve for us too. A very different experience than other nights. I would give them another try if I were you.

Heather, I need to read your trip report. Some evening I'm going to enjoy it!

!

He survived what killed John Ritter and only 10% of people who have this survive it...He's going to have some issues ,still, when we go and I know from experience that the GF will bend over backwards to help us.

BCV, thanks for all that info!! I forgot to check that first page.

Yeah, it was a crazy busy Xmas Eve. Just such a different restaurant experience. We'll try Narcoosees in Nov. It comes highly recommended, it seems. :goodvibes Next time, maybe give Citricos another go.

Channing :)

Heatherlynn, hope your Easter was a good one. :) I am going to be sure to book Narcoossees for our Nov trip & give it a try. Funny, I have been to WDW SO MANY times and never thought to try it until your trip report. That and California Grill. ONe of these days.....

I am actually excited to try a GV room. I usually feel so "tied" to the GF because of the great treats and nice CMs in concierge and the cost...gotta take advantage of that beautiful main building location. It's fun to hang out in the lounge and chat and listen to the lobby music. It'll be nice to feel more "free" to be out in the parks - staying in a GV room - and I am really sick of that same ol' lounge food, too. Our first Gaspies bfast was good - we had never been in there before Xmas Day! We just didn't want to deal with it and the convenience of RPC was nice. Gaspies was a nice surprise, though. :) The kids and I were so happy to see the soft serve icecream and hot fudge sauce!!!!! :thumbsup2

I hope our GV room has a little different decor than the main building and a pretty view. If they have robes and turn down, I'll be set!:goodvibes

I requested Sago. Wonder what rooms look like in that building? I think I'd actually like the Boca Chica view better, though. How about those rooms? I do not want Big Pine. Alice would be great. Wonder where that decor is found?

Lives4Disney :)

we requested Boca for the rooms and I would LOVE an alice room.:thumbsup2

I know some of the other resorts have fridges now....how about the GF?

Does Sugar Loaf have refridgerators or minibars? Is bottled water (16-20oz) available and free as a concierge guest?

The GF has both refrigerators and minibars. I believe they bring the refrigerator to your room upon request (and place it under the vanity in the bathroom), since the minibar is already in the room - at least this was how it was when I was there in 8/05.

I'm not sure about the bottled waters as I haven't stayed concierge yet at the GF. I'm sure one of our resident concierge experts will be along soon to shed some light.

Bottled water was available at each food 'n' snack setup; however, the glass bottles were for pouring into cups that were provided. We do not recall plastic bottles of water available for the taking.

Last time we stayed at the GF (1996), there were several view options, including marina. What are the current view categories now? Is it Garden, Lagoon and MK? If so, does a marina view in Sago, for example, count as garden? Just trying to sort out my room request for our upcoming trip. We had a beautful dormer room with a partial lagoon view for the surprise engagement trip for my wife and i back then in either Conch I think, and it would be nice to do something similar this time. We actually saw some deer and other wildlife in the early mornings from our balcony.

Here's an additional consideration: all Grand Floridian lagoon views are not equal; a number of the so-called lagoon views are actually blocked by the huge pine trees. Caveat emptor!

Hi, Sago marina view is considered garden. Yes you're right.....garden, lagoon, and mk, AND lodge tower are the options. THat dormer sounds lovely. We had a dormer tower room in Sugar Loaf once. Much more cosy and homey than a regular hotel room. :)

As far as the bottled water..... Yes, they are the larger glass bottles...we usually ask the lounge CM for one to take to our room. In the morning, for parks, I fill up a lidded to go cup just to start my day because I am not really a coffee lover. I miss the little bottles, but it has been a LONG time since they've had them so we've learned to deal. I figure if we can afford concierge a few water bottles purchased in the parks aren't going to break us, lol.

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :)

we also ask for some of the glass bottles and we put them in our room
they were very nice about it
i have not seen plastic water bottles at of the blub levels we have stayed at
