Can someone explain the concierge deluxe room to me. For instance, does it have a seperate sitting room. How much bigger than a regular room? Is it worth the extra money? I'm going down for our 10th anniversary and I want to get something special. We've stayed at the GF before and would like to again. However, I would like to get something larger than a regular room because our two little ones will be with us. Any help from the GF experts out there would be appreciated. Thanks.

No, just a bigger room. Here's the floor plan (there are two options) if that helps.

Along the same lines as a deluxe, is the lodge tower room. It offers more floor space, but again, the sitting room is still open to the main room. They're a bit less expensive (no concierge service) and can be found in the outer lodge buildings, while the deluxes are only in the main building.

Hey Everyone!!!

I was SOOOO excited to find out earlier today that we have been upgraded to a 2 Bedroom Suite for part of our stay next week!!

On my confirmation it says this...

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Outer Lodge - 2 Bedroom Suite - Club Level (BQ)

Is there anything that anybody can tell me about this type of room?? Or maybe even pictures??

I just can't believe it!! :woohoo:

Wow! :wizard: What a great upgrade!! Have a wonderful time....can't wait to hear about it and hope to see pictures. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Ok, I have the Private Dining phone number and I know what I want to order. I keep forgetting to ask how far in advance to place the order. We are about a month out now. I like to get as much done in advance but I wasn't sure what they prefered.

Thanks!!!

Just to second what Tammi said, 2 years ago I thought I was being organized and ordered a birthday cake for DD about a month out. When we arrived, I double checked with the concierge CM's and Private Dining said that they did not have an order for me! The concierge CM's told me that 2 or 3 days notice is best because they get so many orders!

I got to take a look at a concierge deluxe room - option 1 on Tammi's post. I really was impressed at how much larger and roomier it seemed than a standard room. It seemed like a terrific deal for the small price difference. Lots of extra floor space. I don't think any of the deluxe rooms have a castle view, though. We always enjoy watching Wishes from our balcony, so that holds me back from booking the deluxe room.

Happy planning,

Hello! Although our stay at the GF last year was wonderful, we learbed the hard way that none of the Deluxe Concierge rooms have castle views - definitely. We had booked and paid for a deluxe room to give our pysically disabled son more room to move around in his walker/wheelchair. Somehow between the CRO and the IPO CM's and some specific requests for proximity to lounge etc (long story), our reservation was changed from deluxe to standard concierge. We got a room with a wonderful view - but no "turnaround" room. The deluxe room really would have given our son a lot of independence. The CM's worked very hard to rectify the situation but could only compensate us financially because of course all the deluxes were full.

If you need the floor space, the deluxe room sounds great. If you want the view, you cannot have deluxe.

We are going to DL in December, and I think I have already driven the CM's at the Grand Californian wild with my double-checking of room configurations etc. There aren't any "deluxe" rooms there other than suites (and that's too $$$ for us!), but I'm being ever so careful about requests for locations etc...!

Thanks. It looks like the deluxe concierge room is bigger but the view won't be of the MK. Can I at least get a lagoon view? Also, can anyone comment as to what seperates a regular concierge room from a standard room (besides the availability of concierge). While I'm at it, can I impose upon some of the GF experts to sell me on concierge. We've never done it, but this trip will be for our 10th anniversary and I have to come up with something good for DW. She told me that she wants a water view and I think that she'll love the concierge lounge. Ideally, we'd like a slightly bigger room because we'll have DD5 and DD2 with us. This thread is great and I thank everyone for taking the time to share their GF knowledge.

Main Building has only concierge(RPC). There are views of the courtyards, pools and grounds so there is no guarantee of a lagoon view. SugarLoaf is a less expensive concierge and is located in its own building but has the same, food offerings, IPO ,etc. The only way to guarantee a water view is to book a Lagoon view, which is not concierge, of course.
We pretty much only stay concierge in the Main Building anymore because we absolutely love it and are basically addicted!:) I will be honest, it is hard to stay anything but concierge for us now, but thats just us! We spend a lot of resort time , relaxing, eating, listening to the orchestra in the concierge lounge, etc. So , adding in IPO, we definitely feel its worth it!:cloud9:
Hope you have a great trip, whatever you decide!:)

Hello all - our trip is coming up soon and we are so excited for our first GF stay. It is funny hearing you all talk about where what rooms are. I was that way with all the other disney hotels but for some reason, I don't really care were we are located. Just staying at the GF alone is great for me!!

Anyway, we tried to book the grand adventures in cooking for our daughter when we upgraded but it is booked up already.:sad1: Does anyone know if it is common for people to cancel 2-3 days before the 24hr policy or is there pretty much no chance for us?

On the bright side, my daughter is going to the tea party the day we go to MVMCP so that should be fun for her!

Like Princessesrule - we LOVE concierge service at the Grand. :goodvibes We enjoy the lounge - sitting and listening to the live piano or orchestra music. The ambience is lovely. The views from the lounge are so pretty - it's a courtyard view and you can see parts of teh lagoon toward the Poly - but mostly courtyard with pretty gardens, pathways, pools, and people watching. We really like the concierge CMs & lounge staff....think they are some of Disney's best. :thumbsup2 Service has always been really great for us during our stays. Housekeeping wonderful, too - and it's funny because we've often had the same housekeeper and so nice to see a familiar face and she remembers us and takes good care of us. :wizard:

The standard concierge rooms are exactly the same as a standard room in any other lodge building. The concierge difference is room location (main building or Sugar loaf), IPO (itinerary planning office) access - they will make ADRs, tour ressies, etc for you prior to check in, and then onsite concierge staff for Royal Palm Club (main building) or in SL (sugar loaf lodge) & then access to the lounge and munchies & beverages throughout the day.

Happy planning - we LOVE the GF!!

Thanks for all the replies. Here's another question (I'm sure I'll have about a hundred more before I make the decision). Can I get a King bed in one of the concierge rooms?

The Honeymoon rooms and most (if not all) of the suites will have king beds in them. I don't think that regular or delux concierge rooms (at least in the main building) are avalible with a king bed. I don't know about Sugar Loaf.

DITTO!

Anyone have pictures of the new rooms?

If you'll go to page 481, post 7213, I posted some pics of our renovated room in Big Pine Key.

And to the poster who asked about concierge king beds, I don't know about the main bldg, but SLC does have some, as we had one on our honeymoon 2 years ago. It was room 6222.

I am staying at the GF and want to watch the fireworks on the 14th of October which is the Halloween Party night. Will I be able to see them from the beach?

I'm sure I've seen, somewhere on this thread, a schedule for the food offerings in SL Concierge. Does anyone happen to know which page it's on?! I've trawled a bit, but there's quite a few pages to look through! Thanks. :goodvibes

You can email the SL IPO people and ask them to send you the schedule.

After seeing the room layout for the lodge tower rooms, I took the plunge and booked it for April. Thanks Tammi for posting the room layout. Since my kids are so young, I couldn't justify the extra cost of concierge. Now I want to read everything I can about the lodge tower rooms. Unfortunately, the search feature of this thread is not working. Has anyone stayed in one of the rooms? If you could point me to a post with pictures of the rooms that would be even better. Again, thanks for all your help.
