Just returned from the CR and it was another great stay. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary last week. I only have positives to report. Every cast member we encountered was very friendly. We had a MK view room on the 9th floor. Saturday night we were able to watch the American Pyro. Assoc. incredible fireworks show. Wishes started shortly after. The CR is a lot of fun! :)
Thanks for your review and it's great that you and your husband enjoyed staying there.

Our initial reaction to the decor: DH liked it, but it threw me. I do like the nod to the old Contemporary decor, such as the drapes, the wall art, the lighting, and the bathroom sinks. It just needs to be drawn together better.

I like that there's more storage and drawer space.

YAHOO!!! HOW I LOVE TO SEE THE PICTURES OF THE DEEP SINKS AND THE 4 DRAWERS!!!!! ( Do you think they were listening to our complaints regarding the CR renovations - heehee)??

Can't wait to stay there!!:thumbsup2

We were there for the Pyro show, too! It was absolutely wonderful! We, too, loved the resort. The people could not have been nicer. My only observation about the room was that more thorough cleaning would have been nice. For example, the rails on the closets and sliding bathroom doors had fingerprints (and more) on them, and the cabinet face (the cabinet that holds the refrigerator) had fingerprints, coffee drips, and other stuff on it. With a little shampoo on a facecloth I had those things washed down in seconds, so it truly was no biggie. We absolutely loved the food at the Wave. We had a lunch and a dinner there, and I think it is now a favorite restaurant! The bar is cool, too!

Me again...forgot to add that there are some odd acoustics going on with the construction. We were on the tenth floor (room 4632, MK view) and did not hear construction noise. However, we clearly heard the "Celebration" song from Chef Mickey's. Didn't bother us...kind of fun, actually. On the other side of the tenth floor (room 4605, Bay Lake view), where my two kids were staying, they occasionally heard a few notes from the Chef Mickey song, but mostly they heard construction noise! They also got the smell of buring metal, which bothered them more than the noise. We did not smell anything on our side. The views on both sides were fabulous, and if I could figure out how to post pictures for a Kodak Easy Share gallery, I would do so if anybody was interested!

Did you hear any info on the new grab and go? We leave 2 weeks from today and I was really hoping it would be done by then.

I took pictures of the construction as of Sunday. To me it would seem a stretch to have the place open in two weeks, but with a little pixie dust, who knows???? I will have my husband help me try to upload that photo so you can see yourself, when he gets home from work. The grab-and-go was actually pretty good--there is this breakfast dish called a "Scrambler" that is available plain, with cheese, and with bacon and cheese that we found really delicious. It is a cross between a muffin and a souffle, if you can imagine...I will try to get that picture uploaded tonight, too. My son (24 years old) was awestruck at how the granola in the yogurt/granola parfait was always chewy and never soggy. He kept making cracks about Disney yogurt magic! The hot dinner offerings at the grab-and-go on the night our dinner plans fell through were pretty meager...a flatbread that did not look appealing and chili...so we went over to the Wave as walk-ins and, though the restaurant was not taking walk-ins for the dining room, we were able to be served dinner at the bar. Did I mention I love the Wave???:thumbsup2

Hi CR experts.

Planning a CR resort stay Jan 10-16 '09 with DD who is 4, and my mom...who
would prefer I not give her age. :)

I chose CR for this special girls' trip. DD will turn 5 during our trip. I definitely want a monorail resort. My mom is in good health but is slowing down a little. She has a history of back troubles...and I think the monorail would be great for a midday nap. We'll all need it!

Any updates as to the pool closing rumor?

Will there other construction still going on I should be prepared for?

Overall just wondering if I should consider at switch to GF or Poly if a ton of construction will be going on. The theming and location of CR are really appealing to me, though.

TIA

According to this thread the pool will be renovation will be starting sometime this Janurary, however no exact date was posted. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1948227

Besides that they should have completed the Contempo Cafe by the time you arrive, so that means all the construction happening inside will be finished. Finally construction of Bay Lake Tower will have no effect at all, so I would keep your reservation.

This is the first time I'm hearing about the pool renovation - how exciting! When I was there in July, it was my first time back at the Contemporary after many years. The pool is really, just a pool. There's not much going on, theme-wise. So it'll be a great idea to see a nice refresh.

During the two months though, I believe guests will be directed to the Poly pool because it's bigger, right?

The WL pool was pretty small last I saw it.

Hooray! Looks like we will get to see the new pool next December! :cool1: I admit the current pool was one of the negatives in our pros and cons list when deciding to stay here.

We just upgraded from Garden Wing to the Tower, Bay Lake View for my dad who loves:love: water and will adore watching the sun rise over the lake.

Here's hoping we made the right decision!! Would have loved a MK view, but I got outvoted. My family doesn't know Disney!:lmao:

Sure Bay Lake isn't the MK, but the view is still an amazing and entertaining view. You get to watch the people parasailing, boats zooming across the lake, the pool, and a bunch of other activities. I think you will be very happy with that view.:thumbsup2

For those folks who were curious about the state of construction, here is a photo from the 10th floor from our trip 9/17/08-9/23/08:

I'm so excited about our upcoming trip to WDW now. When I changed it, my DH said I could only book for 5 day. Last night he said that I could change it to 8 days. I was suprised that I was able to add days to our trip with that view. I had always thought that a MK view at the CR was really hard to get, but I've had no trouble at all.
