I think Mercy posted this morning from the HRH, she had nothing but great things to say about CSR!

Random question here....Has anyone taken any of the spa treatments, and do you remember what they cost?

OK going in Oct. I need major help deciding here between the two, have stayed on and offsite before this is our first moderate worried about the food choices and room comparison, have 2 kids 14 and 4 amy or may not have car will prob only do mk, Epcot and DTD and maybe SEAWORLD. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!princess:

39CINDERELLA - I've never been to POFQ, but you will have no trouble with food selection at CSR. The Pepper Market has something for everybody! Pasta, Asian, Mexican (of course), deli, grill, pizza, soup & bread.

The rooms are nice & the theming is wonderful.

The main pool should be great for both the 4 & the 14 year old. There's a fun playground for the little one.

The transportation is great to all the parks, however, getting to DTD took a while...some round about way. Getting to SeaWorld will be more of an issue - taxi or town car. The transportation board would be helpful for that. :p

Have a wonderful time!

I can't believe I made it through all 52 pages!!!! What wonderful info I've picked up. It's mentioned a lot about arriving early and getting a good room. We going mid sept. and in our case, we'll be arriving late at night. Will I just get stuck with what's left over??? I tried faxing my room request the last time when we stayed at the poly, even mentined it was a special anniversary and got a room facing the parking lot!!! So I'm afraid to do that again! We're going through Dreams Unlimited this time and are hoping they have better luck. Anyone else ever arrive late at night? How did it go?

Mylove2002 - I think it's really luck of the draw. The first time we went, we got parking lot views, but that was fine, considering they gave us all the other requests, like close to the pool & 4 adjacent rooms, including two pairs of connecting rooms. This last time we went, for some reason, CRO never forwarded the reservation, and although we did not get the Cabanas I requested (we got the beautiful Casitas), we did get the connecting rooms I requested PLUS a bonus of a great view of the lake. :p Before we saw our great view, I did ask if we could get the Cabanas & they said there was an opening of connecting rooms the next night, but once we unpack, we like to stay that way. Just as well, because we loved our view. BUT, if you are REALLY unhappy with what you get, ask if there are any better rooms available later in the week.

Something tells me that I'd pretty much be happy anywhere there! I'm not worried about the view so much. It's a motel...I don't keep my window shades open much because people are walking by all the time and can see in. I care more about where I'm located. I want to be near the bus stop and near the dig site pool. That's the most important. But I wonder...is there really a truely lousy area to be in?

Thinking of staying at CSR because of the junior suites. Are the suites available in all three sections?

I got my request, but I remember thinking that for all the stressing I felt over the decision of what to "choose" -- once I was there all of it looked pretty good to me!

When did CSR discontinue rollaway beds? Because we were there last October and they gave us one (we only needed it for one night when we were babysitting)

Hi all... I was just going thru this thread and saw your posts about your concern for me... very touching :sad1: Sorry I haven't posted my report until now... but enjoy!

********

Like we all do, I agonized over which resort to stay at. We have never stayed at an official Disney resort (the closest was at the Dolphin) so I was really looking forward to this stay. After going back and forth several times in the decision making process, we decided for the value and the amenities offered, we would go with CSR. We booked it with the 7 for 5 deal.

Because I spend so much time on Disney discussion boards, I was overloaded with information about this resort. I had read many opinions on CSR and read about which section/building was the best to request, etc. With all this info, I decided to request Cabana 8A, because it seemed close to the Dig Site and close to Bus Stop #4, and a short walk over to El Centro (I included this request when I made my reservation).

Well, upon arrival we proceeded to check in and Evelyn was the CM who assisted us. I asked where our room was located and she said Cabana 8B....OMG... NOT 8A!!! Ok, I guess I was feeling stressed probably because of the long drive from Maryland and probably because of all the information overload I had acquired. Then Evelyn (who was extremely patient BTW) said that our room faced the PARKING LOT!!! OMG... things are not going as planned! I asked if anything else was available, and she said Ranchos 7B.... I am now flashing back to all those posts I read about the Ranchos section being SO far from El Centro and having to walk it in 900 degree Florida heat! But Evelyn is trying to convice me it will be ok. She asks if I would like to see the room, and I say ok. Another CM with a cart takes us to Ranchos 7B and it indeed does seem kind of remote... and it was facing the quiet pool... but AGAIN I flashed back to all the posts about the quiet pools being NOT so quiet! Now I am totally stressed and DH is starting to think, ok, my DW is going to go off any moment now.

Sorry, I know this is long.... anyway, we get back to the main building and my DH takes over and explains that we really didn’t like 7B, and that I have been planning this trip for a year and is there anything else they can do. Well, Evelyn goes in the back for a moment and when she returns she says they have upgraded us to a waterview room in Cabana 9B which is right next to El Centro. I’m still not feeling really comfortable, but we thank her and accept the room. When we go to see it, we find it is the MOST PERFECT ROOM!! It was a corner room, facing into the main lake at CSR with a short walk to El Centro and a quick walk to the Dig Site... PERFECT!!

I walked back to El Centro a little later and thanked Evelyn for her kindness and patience with the crazy woman from Maryland. Every time we were over at El Centro, Evelyn spoke to us, calling us by name, and asking how our vacation was going... even one day when she was off duty and not in her Disney uniform she came over to say hi! I know this story is very long, but Evelyn’s dedication to giving good customer service really made a very good impression on me and made my Disney experience all the better. I do intend to write a letter to her superiors telling them of my experience.

CSR is a beautiful resort, very peaceful and relaxing. I loved the southwest theme. It was just enough without going over the top. Looking out our room I could see the sandy beach with the hammocks tied to palm trees... to the left, I could see the Casitas section, which is very pretty, especially at night. Off in the distance I could see the top of the pyramid at the Dig Site. Very nice!

Our room was in good condition, as was the building we were in. It appears that they might have been rennovated recently. I liked the curtain between the sink/bathroom area and the main bedroom area, it allowed for privacy in getting dressed. I also like the fact that this moderate resort has coffee makers in the rooms, as I need my coffee first thing in the morning.

We decided to purchase the refillable mugs which were a good value and since we were so close to the main building, it was convenient to get them refilled. We ate several meals at the Pepper Market, our experience there was ok, food is a little expensive for the quality. My kids liked eating at the Pool Bar (can’t remember the name), they liked the burgers there (which were also a little cheaper). The pool was very nice, the slide was fun (I even went down a few times). The hot tub was large and nice also.

My DH would go to Franciscos just about every evening and have a Corrona which he enjoyed. He also had them at the Pool bar. I had a very good margaritta at Franciscos too!! We had intended to try the Maya Grill for breakfast one morning, but it just didn’t happen.

Bus service at CSR was very good, we never waited long for a bus either at the resort or at the parks. My DH was happy to park our car and leave the driving to Disney.

We were there for Hurricane Charley. I felt the CSR handled the situation beautifully. They opened up a buffet in the convention center for $7/adult. We had already eaten at the PM, or else we would have checked this out. They were very good with keeping us informed of the situation and with what was happening with the parks. Since we had the 7/5 deal, they gave us 4 one day UPH’s due to the fact that the parks closed early the day of the hurricane.

I would not hesitate to stay at this resort again, we were more than happy there. We did visit WL and BC while there for dinner, and I can’t say that I had the “oh, I wish we were staying here instead” feeling at all. CSR was perfect for us.

Well, I’ve said enough.... any questions... ask away!

Oh, another note, we did take the aero bed and just moved the table and chairs a bit and put the bed next to the cabnet the TV is in. Plenty of room.

So glad you had a good time and liked CSR, I'm planning right now on our next trip down next Aug. and asked DS 11 where he wants to stay (hopeing he said CSR) and he said CSR. I think it's such a beautful resort and CM are so very helpful.

Welcome home Mercy! So glad you loved CSR! Sounds like your room couldn't have been in a better location!!!

I too was at CSR during Hurricane Charley and the staff was awesome. Everyone we encountered was really nice.
I thought it was excellent that they opened up some of the convention rooms for children's entertainment and dining during the hurricane.

I agree. On our first trip, we were upgraded to YC after a day at CSR (long story), and although being close to Epcot was great, nothing beats the ambiance of CSR. I would not hesitate to stay there again!

Does anyone know what kind of foods/appetizers Franciscos serves at CSR? Deb doesn't have that one listed on her site.
(Franciscos is the name of the lounge isn't it?) :)

I can't help too much because we didn't eat there. My DH would go over while we were getting dressed each night for a Corrona. I had their Signature Margaritta and it was really good. The bar tender did keep the chips and salsa flowing!

sorry to sound foolish here but i never stayed at a WDW resort before. We always stayed offsite and i was wondering how the tickets or passes work to get into the various parks. Is it all inclusive when you book the hotel??

thanks

larry

That's good. I could just about live on chips and salsa.:) And, maybe one margarita.:) Can't drink as much now after the gbp surgery.:)
