Just another quick update. Everything is still wonderful here at CSR. I have taken lots of pics and will post a website when I get home. The only time the buses are filled (with no seats) are at the very end of the night when the parks are closing and EVERYONE is leaving. CSR still has the shortest line though :cool1: At Epcot we were next to Port Orleans bus stop and OH MY :earseek: the lines went past our bus stop. We heard people complaining in line about their bus service being really bad. We had consecutive buses come thru and literally waited in line for 5min :flower: Another HUGE plus is the pool. Yes people, there are lounge chairs NOT taken at this pool. I couldn't believe it. Anytime of the day that we came, there were still leftover lounge chairs. Nothing like Poly when you have to scope chairs out at 9am if you want to relax by the pool. This was so nice. The whole pool area is huge. kids pool, big pool, slide, huge hot tub, siestas :goodvibes , kids playground and the arcade. It is so nice to have everything in one location. DD loves it but I would think parents with multiple kids would like this set up so much more then other hotels. Used the laundry yesterday. I think someone asked about ALL being in the soap dispenser - it isn't but there are multiple ones there (I know TIDE was one of them.) I knew I would be doing some laundry so I just bought my own in a ziplock and some dryer sheets. Worked out great. Had a tram take me to and from since it was raining too. I see at least 2-3 of them during the day and sometimes see 4 running at night. I barely use them as I love the walks but it is nice if needed.

Oh and on a side note. We ate at Maya Grill and deemed it 2nd best (next to LeCellier) as far as food options, prices and taste for a 1 point TS meal. But please please be aware - the servers will only get the 15% gratuity on the actual meal plan cost, not the cost of the actual meal like other hotels - so please take a look at the receipt before leaving and tip a little extra. This is because Maya Grill is not really owned by Disney. Our server was really good but he would have only received $10.50 in tips for 4 people who had $28 meals each, $8 appetizers and $6-7 desserts. The bill came close to $200 on the meal plan so really he would have only received 5% gratuity. We ordered margaritas too (oh so good!) so we tipped HUGE on that separate bill to make up for it. I feel bad for those servers - doesn't seem fair because I am sure most people don't even think to look at the gratuity they are receiving - just figure it is fair. I read that here (about the gratuity problem) before I left and it is true. Just wanted to make everyone aware!

That's really good news about Maya. We still have not made up our mind about eating there. Anyone else have opinions on this restaurant?

I like the way the dig site is set up. I think that gives this hotel an advantage to many others. I stayed at the Poly ant the CR before, but I think the dig site area at CSR is much nicer then what I found at those deluxe resorts.

Suzanne74,

Glad to hear you are enjoying CSR. We stayed at POR in July and the bus service was horrendous at night like you said. I am glad to hear the lines are shorter for CSR. Enjoy the rest of your stay!

We just got back from the World last week. We didn't stay at CSR this time, but my parents did, so we ate at both Maya Grill and the Pepper Market on the dining plan.

Pepper Market - This is one of the best deals for a counter service. You get so much food, and the tip is included. We had breakfast there one morning, and I couldn't finish even half of my breakfast burrito, which also came with potatos. DH managed a little better on his; he had an omelet, which also came with potatos and a biscuit.

Maya Grill - The food is excellent, but the service was extremely slow and unattentive. My parents had 3 meals there during the week and said they only had good service one meal, and it was not from the waiter assigned to the table. I'm not sure if the poor service is due to being on the dining plan (they ask you when you are seated), or what, but we are usually very generous tippers and leave more than what is given on the plan, when the sevice is deserving.

The host was also very rude. We walked in around 4:30 one night, and asked for a table for 4. There were only 2 families in the restauant at the time, and the host acted like it was a big problem to seat us without having reservations (the restaurant did not fill while we were there, even though the slow service took over 2 hours to complete the meal).

We have stayed at CSR before, and will stay there again (hopefully next year!), but I do not think we would eat at Maya Grill again.

Is there a bench in the room. Ive noticed pictures of the other moderate resorts having a bench in the room but have not seen them in pictures of the Coronado. Thanks

We didn't have a bench in our room. The short cabinet that holds the fridge held one of our suitcases, and there was a suitcase rack in the closet area to hold another. There is a table and chairs in the room, also.

Do you know which of the CSR buildings are smoking-optional and which ones are non-smoking? I want to make sure & request a non-smoking building! By the way, your CSR site is AWESOME!! :) :)

well i came back from the US ~4 weeks ago and i have also been to the CSR at wdw...when we eat at the maya grill we also had a lousy service, very unfriendly and slow. the food wasn't the best ...

just my 2 cents

but don't get me wrong...i loved the CSR but not the food at the csr :/

We had very slow service at the Maya Grill for breakfast - our server diappeared to make an omlette to order for the "suit" at the next table (it was never offered to us - we were seated really quickly and you don't see the menu again!). We waited 30 minutes for a drink and in the end called a waitress from another table! He did not get a tip at all!

Now I deserve a reward!!! :rotfl: Believe it or not I do have a few more questions or clarifications:
1. Since I would like to be in Casitas and closest to the dig site I am thinking Casitas 5 would work best. Is this correct?
2. I would like Casitas as my first choice, cabanas as second, (reminds me to much of California where I grew up) and do not want Rancho(I forgot the name) at all. (Im burnt out on that theme.) With that said, do I need to request a water view room just assure I dont get my last choice? I really dont care if I get water view or not , I just dont want to stay in the Rancho section.
3. It was mentioned earlier that Casitas area has a hammock now. Where is it located?
4. Im on the dining plan and still a little confused about how it works in the Pepper Market. Example, if I dont want a set "combo meal" but instead maybe a salad and french frys, how would that work?

Sorry for so many question, but hey I did read the whole thread!! :teeth:

I'm sure Mario can help you with all of the sections, but I do know that in the Cabanas 9A is the smoking optional bldg.

Yes, this is the first building we stayed in. Had a great view of the lake and fountain in the courtyard.

As long as you requested the casitas on your original reservation, that's all you can do. WDW does not guarantee room locations.

Right by casita 5

anything goes at the Pepper Market except for dessert. You can only get a cookie or muffin.

Thanks Mario for answering all my questions. I was under the impression that Ranchos did not have very many water views hence my thought of requesting a water view room. So if I go to the Pepper Market for lunch and get a salad, sandwich and frys, that is counted as 1 cs meal? Thanks again! :goodvibes

Here are a few threads discussing the PM and the dining plan.
