Will a rollaway bed fit a tall 7yo comfortably? She's about 52"-53". If we get the two doubles, either DH or I will have to sleep with DD, as we are used to a king. With a double, his 6'1" 220# frame pushes my 5'1" 110# self right to the edge of the bed where I cling all night. :crowded: Anyway, we are thinking of requesting a king room with a rollaway. Does a rollaway fit ok? Can we move furniture a bit to help accomodate a rollaway? Is the rollaway comfy? How much is the rollaway? We'll swap turns with DD if need be, but always prefer a king.
An air matress fits so shouldn't be a problem with a roll-a-way.

Merriwind said:
Are king room locations limited? We usually request non-smoking and top floor. My plan is waterview, but preferably not pool view. Is this combo possible? (I have never made so many requests!)
There are only 60 king-size bed rooms out of 1,967 rooms so I guess it depends on which section you like best.

The Dig Site pool looks awesome. Is it possible to get your kids away from it?! Of course DH will be at a show during the days, so I can relax with a book while DD swims. Are there a lot of kids at CSR or is it mostly conventioneers?
Loads of kids when we have been there. Mostly spouses hang by the pool if they have husbands/wifes attending conventions. My DD loves the pool and slide and would stay there all day if we let her. Make sure to catch the opening cermony.

Going to Disney 4/29- 5/6/2006. Looking at POFQ or CSR. How do I find out if a large convention is that week? Would prefer POFQ if so. Tried Google but didn't really see anything notes. IS it too far away? :goodvibes

Hi everyone :wave2: - We'll be at CSR 12/8 - 12/13, and we won't have a car.

Sounds like it could take a long time to get to Wildnerness Lodge using the bus system, but I'd love to go to WL to check out the Christmas decorations, have a drink, etc.

Can anyone tell me what the taxi fare might be from CSR to WL?

thanks!

You can go to MGM and transfer to a WL bus. As far as taxi's go, it cost me $6.00 from the BC to CSR. That's not bad.

Conventions are good to have. Means less guests on the bus or at the pool. Just keep trying google for CORONADO SPRINGS CONVENTIONS 2006.

Thanks for the advice, Buzz2001. I hadn't even thought of an airmattress! Can't wait to try CSR!

Hi everyone - just a quick post to tell you that we checked into CSR on Friday night and it has been WONDERFUL. I am so glad we decided to stay here then a value during the free dining plan. We checked in at 8pm and had no wait at check-in - everyone was so helpful. Ryan (who checked us in) was disney magical - so much fun!!! I did request Cabanas on our reservation and sent a fax in a few days ahead of time with my preference of 9B or 8A and we are in Cabanas 8A, 3 rooms all together and on the first floor. :cool1: This section is ideal and for our needs, I am glad we are here then 9B anyway. We are steps away from Bus Stop 4 and steps from the Dig Site, which we will use daily on our afternoon breaks.

So after check-in we looked around the resort and it is beautiful!! Our room was clean and it is a perfect size for us. I actually prefer the sink outside the bathroom as opposed to the Poly. Easier for the 3 of us to get ready. The decor isn't my favorite (a little too many colors, shapes, textures) but it is in better physical condition then any other disney hotel we have stayed at - that is more important to me. The beds are actually comfortable and the a/c works well. My sis and her very loud family are next door. Haven't heard a noise thru the walls and my little niece is loud!! No toilets flushing. The overall resort is very calming. No noisy hallway right outside the door so it is actually quieter then the deluxes.

The resort "shuttles" are constantly running. I don't think we have walked more then 60 seconds before we see one and they offer us a ride, if we don't ask them to stop ourselves. The shuttle drivers were also stopping just to hand out mickey stickers to the kids :flower: yesterday morning!!!

The bus service to MK yesterday AM was very slow. We were at the bus stop at 9am and waited until 9:28am to get a bus and watched 2 of every other bus pull thru the stop, my dd was almost in tears as she was so excited for her first day at MK . However, we came back for a break and the next 3 bus waits were less then 5min each. Must of just been a fluke. The lines for the value buses at MK were horrible :earseek: but CSR was closest stop :cool1: and hardly ever anyone in it. Have seen some convention people here and there but nothing crazy and if it keeps the buses empty, who cares anyway!

Pepper Market - ate there on Friday night after we checked in. I have NO IDEA how anyone can not like that place. YUMMY!!! My parents had chicken caesar salads that had to have had 2+ chicken breasts on it. It was huge and delicious. I had shrimp quesadillas that were perfect and stuffed with shrimp - made to order. My DH had the wok sampler and it was HUGE HUGE HUGE. Oh my - you could probably split that with 3 people and still have leftovers. Our dd had the pizza and no complaints. Our server was always over for refills and we were seated promptly. We didn't start the meal service until Sat AM so we paid OOP for this meal and had no problem paying the 10%. The meals were reasonably priced, esp for the amount of food you receive. Now we haven't been there during a prime time yet so I don't REALLY know what it is like during a busy time but so far so good!

Oh and the frozen orange dreamsicles at Siesta's have already made this trip worthwhile!!

Anway - I am off to Epcot this AM. I will report more later in the week.

HTH everyone!!!

I will posting a brand new thread the next chance I get but wanted to report to the CSR diehards first!!

Awesome reports Suzanne!! Glad you are having a great trip!! I can't wait till April.

Thanks to Buzz and epcotfan and all of the rest of your glowing reports ( and the new discount) I have changed from POP to CSR for my December trip! I am so excited and encouraged by the wonderful posts on this thread.

Suzanne, if you have a chance, and don't mind doing so, could you note how far away from the park entrances the CSR bus stops are (I see that you mentioned that in your MK post)? I want to be prepared as we're bringing my in-laws and once when we stayed at Dixie Landings, I remember it seemed like another mile from the bus stop to the entrance!

Thanks in advance, and thanks again everybody for this thread!

Thank you so much for your report, it just sounds wonderful! I am soooo ready and excited for our upcoming CSR trip!

we just returned from our stay at CRS. the property itself is very nice. we stayed in casita 4 with a waterview room, we got a corner room on the 3rd floor with a nice view of the lake. we were right near bus stop 2. the chips and salsa at the bar were VERY good. on one of the nights we hit the hotel bar (franciscos) after the parks closed, they just finished a convention meeting at the hotel, so the bar was PACKED. they only had 3 bartenders for a million people, they ended up using paper cups for the drinks because they didn't have time to wash them. i'm not complaining about this, it was fun watching the bartenders try to keep up. we were lucky enough to get a corner seat at the bar.

the dig looked much better in pictures. i wasn't impressed with the pool area. i guess i was expecting a pool area like the hotels in the caribbean. also, the room itself was nothing special, but being that we didn't spend much time there, it wasn't a big deal. overall, we made a good choice.

will be happy to answer any questions anyone has, but i know mario rules these boards...ha-ha. (he was a great help to me)

:Pinkbounc :cheer2:
We leave October 14th...... which is only 9 days away!!!
It is our first Disney trip with my husband and DD 4. I will have my laptop and send some reports too. I can't wait!!!

I also stayed at CSR 9/28-10/3. It was great. We had a King room in Cabana 9B. The staff were friendly and helpful. The maid was nice, and the room was super clean. Pepper Market was really good. Not super fast but efficient enough and most of the food is made to order. The portions there are huge. The buses worked fine when we took them. I really liked the pool area especially the slide.

My only complaints are that Cabana 9B is a bit of a hike from the parking lot (which was mostly empty) and the ice machine was also a bit of a hike and the ice was sort of watery and melted quickly. We did get some noise thru the wall one day--a noisy family with a baby who cried for an hour straight moved in and I think they would have been disruptive even if you were staying at the Ritz. These are all tiny issues. I was looking and looking for something to be wrong but could not find much.

I think that any of the three villages would make a good stay--Casitas and Ranchos also look good.

We last stayed at the Wilderness Lodge 9 years ago and we liked Coronado Springs better! CSR was a lot quieter and my wife felt that the room was larger. I like the pool better at CSR than the pool at WL.

Thanks to the keeper of the web page--I loved all those photos and other info he has passed on about CSR. Any chance WDW will build another moderate on the model of CSR?b

I would love to know a little more about the pool area. I have a 3 year old and was wondering if you think the dig site is okay for a younger child. How is the kiddie pool? Do they have the big plastic fish in the kiddie pool still?

I know that Pepper Market is set up differently than the other food courts, in that your food is delivered to you.

Are you able to get your own refillable drinks? Or does a CM get them for you? If a CM does the drinks, how can you tell which mug belongs to which person? Are the mug handles all the same color?

Thanks!

Will they deliver your food? I know they will bring your drinks, but when my family ate there I felt like a waitress because I had to go order then pick up everyones food. The lines were long, and I had to stand in many different lines because we all wanted something different. By the time I got my food everyone was done eating and the kids were getting rammy. The food was very good, but not worth all the work. Now if they will bring the food to you, that makes this place high up on my list of places to eat.

I've never stayed there and don't know for sure if they deliver food. Someone was telling me about it, and maybe they or I confused the drink delivery with the food delivery?

Maybe someone who stayed there recently can fill us in on the Pepper Market and how it works, both with food and refillable drinks.
Thanks!

The big pool is okay for younger kids obviously if they are with an adult. It is a very large pool. There is also a playground and sandbox area too. The kid pool is just okay. It was much better when they had the fish squirting water. See pics of all this on my website below.

The Pepper Market

This is not your typical food court. Rather, there are several hot and cold food stations with individual chefs and servers. You can get breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert items at The Pepper Market. The following food stations can be found in The Pepper Market: Mexican Kitchen, Wok Kitchen, Soup, Salads, & Sandwiches, Grill Station, Pizza Kitchen, Pasta Kitchen, Children's Kitchen, Beverage Station, and Bakery Counter.

Upon entering the Pepper Market you will be given one meal card/receipt per person. You must keep these cards. DO NOT LOSE your meal card. Once your host seats you they will ask if you need anything to drink and tell you where the beverage station, etc..is. The Pepper Market hosts are NOT waiters. They are there to seat people and make sure their table has cutlery, napkins, etc... They will get drinks if you desire.

What makes this food court/restaurant different is that you go around to the various stations and select food as desired. Once you make a choice the chef at each counter will stamp your card and serve give you your chosen food. Many of the items at the stations are cooked to order. There is flexibility in combining items. This is a great place for someone who only wants a light meal and the rest of their family wants a heavy one. For example: you can grab a side of Spanish rice from the Mexican station and order a steak from the grill station. The combinations are nearly endless. I love the variety and being able to pick and choose at leisure. If I feel like I want another roll in the middle of my meal all I have to do is get up and head to the bakery station with my meal card.

The best thing is you do not pay until you see the cashier after your meal. While you have the card you can get up and retrieve food as often as you want without having to pay first. This is great since other food courts require you to carry money to each cashier every time you want something else. This is a wonderful option for someone that truly wants a casual meal. Alcohol is also available.

Once you have finished dining, collect your menu cards and take them to the cashier. The cashier calculates the total due. There is a ten percent gratuity automatically added to all orders. To me this is well worth the variety, service and flexible meal options. If you are only going in for take out the ten percent will be waived. Just tell the cashier you are only there for take out. Don't forget to tell the cooks you are there for take out so they package your food properly. You can then take the food back to your room or eat at one of the tables outdoors. In the Pepper Market you also receive real cutlery and cloth napkins (Paper ones are available as well) I found the food at the Pepper Market to be of higher quality than your average food court. Portions tend to be larger as well. If you only want to get your mugs refilled ask the host of a refillable mug pass and go to the beverage station. Upon exiting hand the cashier the pass on the way out.

Some people balk at paying a 10% gratuity. Personally the service and options are well worth a ten percent tip. I like that I can talk to the person preparing my food. If I don't want onions on my sandwich I can tell the cook directly instead of having to relay it through a cashier and then hope the chef got the message. No other Disney food court has as much variety. For someone like myself, who gets tired of typical burgers and sandwiches this food court was a blessing. I also found the portions to be larger than that of a typical Disney food court. This is also the only food court where one doesn't have to clean up after themselves. You simply leave your dishes and tray on your table when you exit and a clerk will clear the table. I found this restaurant to be one of the more relaxing ones at Disney. It was a nice change of pace from the endless lines at Theme Park restaurants.
