Awesome pics, Buzz! And I love your website.

We're requested the Casitas for our upcoming trip. Hopefully we'll get that request...

Thanks! Have a great trip!!

CSR is at the top of our list right now for a moderate pick. We were originally looking at POFQ but some of the posts and pictures (and Buzz's website) helped sway us a more this way.

Would just like to hear if its good for kids ages 10, 5 and 2 at the time of trip and if the Cabanas would be a good spot to ask for.

Also, we are two families. How can we make sure that we have two rooms close together?

Being a convention centre shouldn't be a problem with crowding, should it?

50% of the rooms at CSR are adjoining rooms (door connecting the two rooms). You chances are good that you can get those.

Cabanas have the best proximity to the pool, bus stop and main building. They would be a perfect spot for a family.

Here are some good room choices...

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. Most convenient location and most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool and is also a smoking optional building.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

When we booked our rooms,we told the CM that our daughter and her friend were 11 and she told us that connecting rooms would be guaranteed so you should not have any problem. Your children will love CSR as will you.
There were no crowds when we were there at the end of May/early June.

We just returned from Coronado last week. We have 5 kids and they all loved the pool. It was never crowded and the slide was a big hit. We stayed in Ranchos 7B which was very close to the main pool and had the added bonus of a very large quiet pool as well (although we always went to the main pool). It is very close to the bus stop as well.
The only possible drawback would be if you wanted to use the food court alot it is a bit of a walk. We enjoy walking but not all families do. We only used our food court for two breakfasts which I went and brought back to the room and another day when we went and brought food to the pool. There is some food available by the pool as well.

I've been lurking here for a few weeks, reading all the wonderful information everyone has been sharing about CSR and Disney in general. Although, being new, I do admit that all the letters (CSR - that was easy, AKL, POS, etc.) confused me a bit. I'm slowly figuring them out, but is there a place that lists all those? I must have spend a couple hours trying to figure this one out: MNSSHP :confused3 I did finally get it, though. :thumbsup2

Anyway, what made me decide to finally stop lurking and post something (which may be one of the only things I post) is that I got the information on our trip (we leave October 1st :woohoo: ) from our Benevolant Benefactors (my in-laws) and found out that they:

1. Booked a water-view room at CSR
2. Requested building 9A or 9B

 :Pinkbounc :cool1: :cheer2:
I can't wait to leave!! Oh, and they also got ADRs (see I'm getting it) for some great places as far as I've read on here. :woohoo:

BTW, This is my very FIRST trip to WDW and I was not really excited until I got on DIS and started reading. Thanks everyone for helping me go from this: :sad2: to this: :yay: about our Disney trip.

Oh! Forgot about the smoking optional for 9a. Guess I'll have to hope that they don't give us 9a because I can't ask the Benevolant Benefactors to change the requests. That would be like me telling them they don't know what they are doing.

... and thanks to the other poster for the link to the list of abbreviations.

Buzz-

Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all the great CSR information that you provide. I am traveling with my whole family (12 of us - ages 1 year to 65!) next April and we really debated on where to stay. We had it narrowed down to POR and CSR - and all the great pictures and things that you had to say swayed us to CSR. We're really looking forward to it!

thanks!

Kara
No problem, that's the main reason for starting the site. Just to help others see it is a great resort. Have a great trip!! April is a wonderful time fo year to be at WDW.

We were given a King Room, does that mean it is a suite? Do all of the 'areas' have King rooms in them?

For those who have been down there around Thanksgiving - a couple of questions.

Looks like everyone asks for the Cabana's section. We were thinking of the Castias section, we'll be arriving the day after Thanksgiving. What are the thoughts that there will NOT be a convention going on during that time.

Thanks.

There were conventions all week during our July CSR stay. They didn't bother us at all. In fact I got an extra chuckle from them each day. Every morning while getting coffee, or getting ready to go to the parks I would see the conventioneers, and think how those poor slugs had to sit in boring meetings all day long while we were enjoying WDW!

Bottom line, the conventions really didn't affect us at all.

That's reassuring. :thumbsup2 I've heard horror stories of loud conventioneers partying into the wee hours & Disney doing nothing about it. I realize it would depend on the group. What section did you stay in? We were thinking ranchos would be the furthest away from something like that.

Jessica

We stayed in Cabanas. It was close to the dig site, and not too far from El Centro. Ranchos looked like a nice section, too. I believe they try to put the conventioneers close to the convention center. As a result they're more likely to be in Casitas. I did notice several people walking from Cabanas each morning to the convention center. Since it was an IRS convention I didn't loudly snicker at the poor slugs who had to sit in meetings all day :rotfl: (for fear of a tax audit!)
