Hey hockeyfan17 my family going to be at CBR same dates---Enjoy:)

Enjoy as well. Can't wait until August 18th when we start our trip with a drive to Buffalo, some shopping, and an overnight stay before our flight out on the 19th.

Here is a semi-related question to requesting a refurb room. I'll be there Christmas week. I've never done an onsite resort before so don't know exactly how the request system goes. If I just requested a room in Jamaica would that be likely to be granted? I would think that broad of a request could be easily fulfilled. I don't really care where I am in the resort. I just want a queen bed.

Hopefully, it won't be a problem to get a room in Jamaica. However, we have requested exactly that the last two trips, and we were placed in martinique both times (standard). If the CM says you are in a different building, I would just tell them you were hoping for a room with queen beds and ask if it is possible.

When I called and made my reservations she asked me if I had a request and I just requested a refurbished room. She had no problem taking that request but, who knows if it will be granted. Good luck!

We also requested Jamaica our last two trips and were put in Aruba both times. We explained when we got there that we really wanted Jamaica and asked to be switched, but was told there were no rooms available. Good luck! Hope you get your request fulfilled :wizard:

We have requested a preferred room and hope that those are completed for our April trip!

As I was randomly checking to see if I could book 5 at CBR for December, the chat window popped up, so I bit. The cast member hesitated for a long time between answering my questions which (pure speculation on my part) led me to believe he was carefully wording his response.

Megan: I know the Caribbean Beach Resort is undergoing refurbishment. Any information about when we may be able to book a room for 5 people?

Wolfgang: Hello there Megan!

Wolfgang: The completion of refurbishments for this resort is looking to be completed by Spring 2015.

Megan: We will be at WDW for a few nights before and after our Disney cruise in December 2014. Do you know if any of the buildings will be completed at that time?

Wolfgang: Many Guest rooms (but not all) will have the ability to accommodate up to 5 Guests with the addition of a bunk-size fold down bed. Rooms accommodating up to 5 Guests will be located in all villages.

Megan: Thanks! I'll keep my eyes peeled for booking. As a family of 5, we're looking forward to trying a different resort this time.
Wolfgang: I understand completely!

Wolfgang: It is my pleasure to assist! Is there any other resort you are looking forward to visiting?

Megan: No, that is all. Thank you.

Wolfgang: I would appreciate your feedback on the survey at the end of this chat. Thank you for contacting Disney & have a magical day!

Please let there be one when we arrive! DS will be on cot or air mattress while niece will be on the bed, I'm sure he would prefer a real bed.

Because I wanted to get this new thread going before the other one got shut down, I took some liberties with pictures.

I want to thank safetymom and mickeystoontown, I hope you guys don't mind I used some of your pictures. If you have any issues with that, please let me know.:worship:

Dansdad, thank you for an awesome review. My husband and I are staying at CBR for the first time in November,2014. Your review is by and far the best yet and is very helpful. Thanks again for taking the time to put this together!:thumbsup2:goodvibes

Yay! This is great news! thanks so much for passing it along! I was really starting to worry about those Murphy beds not happening since we hadn't seen any confirmation here. THIS sure sounds promising though!

I'm looking to stay here again next February - the 8th through the 16th. I understand that's President's weekend but is the week before (the week we want to go) typically busy? We want to do a 5 day pass to use M-F and the rest of the days use to swim/shop/relax etc.

What can we expect with crowds at the parks that week and crowds at the resort the 14th-16th? We stayed in April this year two weeks prior to Easter and it was perfect for us - just wish we had extra time! And that's what we're planning for this time.

we have been right before president's weekend and it wasn't very busy.
you do know that the 5 days you go to a park do not have to be consecutive?we like to have a resort day in the middle of the trip. you can also do a water park.
if you go with a package, a down day is a good day to use that planet holywood voucher. maybe the mini golf voucher.
I know, I know, you said relax lol
also, you can add another day while there if you need to for only $10.. but we forewarned, you have to add day 6 before day 5 has ended. you can't get p the next morning and then decide.

Phew you put me at ease! I keep reading that President's week is busy and I was hoping it in fact meant the week following.

I understand I don't have to use them consecutively (I might upgrade the Premier for myself since I have the Premium to DL) however I think going M-F would be best crowd wise - wouldn't you say? I'm going with then 4 and 6 year old boys and DH.

We have been from approx 8th to approx 20th February (10 days, just moving round the odd day or two either way) for the last 4 years. The week leading up to Presidents Weekend is usually really quiet and the queues are extremely manageable. In fact, we were there 10th - 17th this year and our first couple of days we didn't need our FPs at all!!

I've always been tied: for one thing my birthday is 14th and there's no point going 'for my birthday' and then coming home beforehand, and until 2 years ago DD was at school and we could only go around half term which is the week containing the 12th - 14th Feb (again, depending on days of the week).

We stayed on site for the first time this year (7 days at CBR), and apart from a LOT of teen girls our first couple of days, the resort was extremely quiet.

Next year we're going 1st - 15th March for DD's 21st birthday. I know March can be a bit iffy due to the US spring break, but we've been told that the first week will be good, the second week might be a bit iffy - but we're as well getting out of there by the third week! Am I right in thinking the Florida spring break is slightly later?

The person that took the pictures said they are staying in the room and were posting pictures. It is as reliable as any other claim by a completely anonymous person on the internet can be. You know people wouldn't just go on the internet and lie don't you? :) It looks real to me though and I don't see why they would just make it up.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe a CM's member family was able to check in one of the refurbish rooms???

Wonderful! My older son is in kindergarten and will have Lincoln 's birthday off on the 9th and President's Day off the following Monday so he will miss 4 days of school. I'm not too concerned about it as it's just kindergarten.

Last time we went we got in Sunday morning after a red eye and stayed until Friday afternoon. I could have used a couple extra days and this time we'll have those extra days. If Downtown Disney and the resort are a little busy it's not too big of a deal to me. I'm just concerned about the parks and it sounds like the week before President's Day is a good week to go :yay:

I'm glad to hear there will be another option besides POR and suites/cabins for families of 5. Our #5 is arriving soon, so I'm sure we'll be looking into this in a few years!

We debated between the week of Mardi Gras and Spring Break. We opted for SB but are concerned over lines. This is our 6th trip but we have little ones....

you got a more helpful/open CM then I did when chatting last week. The one I spoke with would give no hint that there would be rooms for 5 at CBR and kept refering me back to POR or one of the delux resorts. This was even after I explained that I already had a reservation at CBR with 2 rooms(5 people) and would would really like to change it to one room before our trip.

calmom. this is a link to Josh's site WDW easy. he has crowd calendars. it's kind of a complicated chart, but once you understand it, it's a great tool.. this is of feb 2014. I couldn't find 2015.

it shows the crwod level see how the number gos up on president's weekend? and which parks are recommened for each day and which are not advised/

as far as weekends being busier, that isn't true. not like at a local park like 6 flags,e tc.

for example, Mondays are not the best days for MK, (it's usually people's first day there and they ususally go to MK first. and tuesdays are not good for epcot. peopel usually hit epcot second, and it's usually and EMH day. sundays are good cause it's a common check in, check out day.

I don't think saturdays are bad, as long as it's not a holiday weekend.

you could also pick up a copy of The Unofficail Guide to Disneyworld. it has a chapter onthis stuff.

I agree with yopu about missing school. even up to 3rd grade I would take them out. 4th adn 5th,if they are good students. middle school gets tougher and high school, forget it. (I know many will disagree and think it's bad to take kids out. I think it is well worth it JMHO)
