I agree, I'll bet that only part of those are preferred. Those two buildings, in my opinion are the most desirable. While some of parterre place is close to the Main building, that whole building is far from the main pool. I really didn't like staying there.

Some Parterre Place rooms can be far from the beaten path. My guess is that some of those far-flug rooms at the very end of the resort will become the specially themed (Princess or Haunted Manion) rooms. Right now, the only good thing about staying at the edge of Parterre Place is that it's close to POFQ so if you want to swim or eat there you can walk over.

I know that I didn't care for it much. You are correct. Almost a closer walk to POFQ! (not really, but it felt a long walk to the Pool.)

We have stayed at Riverside a couple of times, but I need some help remembering. Do the benches in rooms provide additional storage? or just the armoire? I can't stand living out of suitcases even for a few days. I was thinking of bringing the kids days of the week clothing organizers to hang on the closet pole. They are about 12 inches wide. I'm thinking I should be able to fit 3 of them.

No, the bench looks like a chest but it doesn't open. You can pile things on top of it but it doesn't open or have storage beneath it.

I forgot to ask, does anyone happen to have a copy of current (Oct/Nov?) Kids' menu or the small Dessert Menu sheet from Boatwright's? I picked up a copy of the main menu recently, and I thought my DD had the Kids' sheet too, but she didn't pick hers up.

I'm just updating all the food menus pages at my site and want to fill in the blanks - just a digital snap would be great if someone is at POR right now, just as long as the food/drink text is readable.

Thanks!

Andre

Are the PDF menus on the official page for Boatwright's up to date? Or are those just examples that Disney posts? They do have the dessert menu up there.

I had assumed they would be (I do link to their menu PDFs from my site) but they are a year or two out of date now. Not badly so, but there are a number of changes on the current menus. I suspect the Dessert/drink one probably has less updates, but I just want to make sure I'm more accurate than the official WDW Site. ;) (They still refer to the Colonel's Cotton Mill in a number of places, which still makes me smile)

Andre...
The kids menu is exactly the same except for the price. It is now $8.59. Also, the "Just Dip It" is not on the kids menu anymore.
Hope this helps!!!:goodvibes
(p.s. Thanks for your GREAT site!!! We enjoy it!!)

I currently have WL booked but see I can save over $200 if I book POR and I have a few questions. Just a little background -it is just my DH and I staying for two days after a cruise. We have both been to Disney numerous times but never stayed at either of these resorts. So my questiosn are if I book a King room are these rooms only located in certain areas of the resort? How is the transportation from POR? I stayed at CBR last December and found the resort too big. I did not like all the stops the bus had to make and found the resort jsut too spread out. I know POR is big but how would it compare to CBR? Finally which resort would you chose?

I have stayed at both POR and CBR and I found CBR to be much bigger than POR.

King bed rooms are a booking category, but they are also the handicapped accessible rooms in POR and they are located in only certain areas around the resort. Depending on the time of year, if it is busy, king beds are not always available.

Bus transporation can be tough during peak hours, since they share with the one stop at POFQ. Honestly, I have never had an issue, but I don't go at a busy time, so I have had great success with POR and the bus service.

I will be there next Saturday, if you want pics.....

Pictures are always good! The restaurant staff are probably quite used to people taking pictures of odd stuff these days so they probably won't bat an eyelid at you snapping a couple of menus. :)

Incidentally, in the general area of Boatwright's you will find one of the very few direct references to the original Dixie Landings resort, see if you can find it. No one who knows give it away... :)

Oooooooo - a challenge. I like that!

Considering there are entire threads of "food porn" on the restaurant boards, I believe most CM's have seen more than their share of odd pictures being taken!

We just booked POR for 11/30 thru 12/3 and was wondering if one location at POR is better than the others? We have only stayed at POR one other time many years ago and we didn't stay in the mansions? Any advantage to staying in a mansion room as opposed to the other rooms (I think they are bayou rooms, not sure though). Thanks.

I think that it's a matter of preference. The theming is different from area to area but the rooms are roughly the same. Bayou rooms have a trundle that makes them appropriate for a family of 5. Otherwise they're the same. Proximity is the deciding factor for me. I like to be close to things. Some of the bayou rooms are VERY close to the amenities whereas there are a few of the mansion rooms that I would say were close.

I have to ditto that.

It is often MORE helpful if someone says - we would like to be in a more isolated location; we would like to be near the parking lot because we have a car; we would like to be near a pool because we don't plan on being at the parks all day, etc. You have to kind of assume that 99 percent of the time, people want to be closest to the main building/food court/main pool/marina.

AB is more rustic, while the Mansions are more elegant and refined.

AB does have more buildings that are closer to the main building, then the mansions.

I have stayed in all four mansions and love them all. Since I go alone and am a southern girl, I have to say they suit me to a tee.....

we stayed at por in 2005, 2008, 2009 and cbr this past september. in all honesty my entire family liked por so much better. we found ourselves wishing we were at por the entire trip. por is big but to me it seems more compact than cbr. the transportation is better in many ways at por. i also like having check in in the main building (por) compared to separate building for check in (cbr).

at most of the parks the bus stops to/from cbr are with the values and seem to be a much farther walk. for example at magic kindgom por and french quarter are the first bus stops. cbr was the last stop at some parks, further than some of the values.

also the busses at por do not make as many stops. the transportation at por seemed to be better too. i think at por we waited no long than 10 minutes for busses. cbr we usually had a 10-20 minute wait.

i really encourage you to give por a try. i went to cbr to try something new but i am so mad we didnt book por.

Since it will be just my DH and I this time, we would like to stay close to the main building/food and bus stop since we almost definitely will not be going to the pool/playground etc. Where would you suggest??

Does anyone know if they plan on refurb-ing POR when they are done with POFQ? I'm just curious what the proposed time frame could be and are they planning on Queen Beds at POR as they are putting in at POFQ? Any help will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!!
