Actually, DH has been retired from the Air Force for 4 years, but he still works for the DoD and was deployed to AFG last year for his agency. The funny thing is, while in the Air Force, he was never deployed to Iraq or AFG, only after he retired.

Except for two years in Korea, we've always lived off-base.

How long was he in the Air Force? My DS wants to make a career out of it but I tell him to at least get in there first, get his training etc and then really figure out things. He's so excited! After BMT he will go to Biloxi to get training to become an air traffic controller.

DH was in for 20 years and he had the weekend off between retirement and starting his new DoD job for the same agency! We just love his pension and benefits and I know your DS will, too. Your DS's training will transfer extremely well to the civilian world. He's going to do great!
