This past week I was watching American Idol and I have to say it was . Some of the contestants were good, However some were not good. But simon was again very Brutal. he made some   by being quite RUDE. But thats Simon. This time around Simon got a taste of his own medicine when a contestant who was shown the door. left with a parting shot of his own. He remarked to Simon "Well at least I come from a country that brushes their teeth everyday". I have to say I enjoyed every minute of the show, Sometimes I wonder what was that Mariah Carey- Wanna-Be thinking?, she has the looks but not the voice. SORRY!!!!

Last year when I heard about this show I thought it sounded pretty dumb to be honest, but I constantly heard everyone talk about it. Last week when the auditions shows were airing I finally decided to watch it. I still think it is pretty dumb, but some of it sure is funny. I totally burst out laughing when that boxing girl/wanna be singer (trust simon, it ain't happening) was being sooooooo very melodramatic about her life, and her son's dead father. Looked like she was trying for an academy award. Some of the people seem to have true talent, while others.....I just wonder if they were set up for comedic relief? I don't know if I will watch it any more, I guess it depends on what else is on!

I must be one of the few that love Simon. I mean some of these people need to be told how bad they were, and most of them really think they have talent. I'm not sure about this season though, doesn't seem as talented as the last season.

The difference is that Simon can take it. The tooth brushing comment didn't seem to phase him. What was it he said? Something sarcastic like "he told me!". I can see last seasons contestants being surprised by his attitude, but this new group should have expected it. I mean, I know I can't sing, so there isn't a chance in Hades that I would try to audition for AI (too old also ;) ) and get flamed by Simon.

There is a local boy on there who made the Hollywood cut (the top 100, but not the top 30). He was on Wed. night. His dad said Simon actually said many complimentary things, but all they had on TV was a negative comment. It's all editing. I think Simon's pretty funny anyhow.

We never watched it last time but we made a point to watch both episodes so far of round 2. We LOVED it! Sure they are a bit over the top with their comments sometimes but its so hard to believe some of these people who actually think they can SING! I think Simon is just funny!

Since we never watched AI1, just wondering what happens after this round when they go to Hollywood. Could someone fill me in?

I think Simon is great! I can only imagine the things he would say if he heard me sing!:earseek:

DH & I watched the first run last summer with our younger DS's GF. He would be at evening class, and she would watch it with us! (for Christmas, I bought her the DVD of AI.) We laughed at those early episodes - and this one didn't disappoint either! These people amaze me - do they really think they can sing?!

Truth be told, Simon is the star of the show. Take him away and you have Star Search.

Micca, I totally agree. Even after only seeing this show two times I don't think it would be near as fun to watch without Simon!

I know this is a real superficial and shallow comment, but I'd love to take some scissors to Paula's hair!!!!

Don't quote me on this. I was in the hospital during the beginning of the first season. However, I do believe that once they are all in Hollywood, the field gets narrowed down to 30 people. 10 people will perform each Tuesday night for three weeks. At the conclusion of the show on Tuesday nights, America gets to vote, via toll free number, for the contestants they want to go on to the next round. The Wednesday show is the results show. The top 3 vote getters from the night before are announced and they continue to the next round. So, after the 3 weeks and 30 contestants, the field will be narrowed down to 9. The judges then get to pick one contestant as the "wild card", thus making it an even 10 finalists. From there, each Tuesday all contestants will perform. Afterwards, based on the performances, America votes for who it wants to proceed to the next week. The finalist with the least number of votes will be eliminated on the Wednesday show. The process repeats until there are only two finalists remaining. The rest is self explanatory. :teeth:

Simon was on the Conan O'Brien show a few nights ago.
They had a panel judge him and one of the judges was Triumph the Insult Dog!
It was hilarious, Triumph really went at it insulting Simon and I don't think Simon thought it was very funny.

One thing Triumph said was, "You telling people they have no talent is like vomit telling poop it stinks!" That's Triumph for you. ;)

Simon didn't come across as having much of a personality or sense of humor.
