The Neverending Story

and heard a little voice say, "psst.. Couldn't you have warmed up your fingers first, ma chere? Speak the language of love and you will be warm all over!"
Lauri slapped Jeff! "That's no way to talk to me! We are on a very serious mission!"
"OW! What's your problem? I didn't say a word!"
"Ooh La La! It was me, my red head beauty!"
Mean Laureen almost dropped the lamp, realizing it was wiggling in her hand and TALKING!
"OMG! I forgot the lamp was a Magic Lamp!"
"Ma chere Mademoiselle allow me to introduce myself, I am Lumiere. It is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that I congratulate the both of you on your progress of this neverending journey! Your wish is my command!"
"This map doesn't make a lot of sense", said Jeff, with his mouth still agape from witnessing a talking lamp! "Up is down, left is right, north and south are not opposite of each other. How can a map like this be of any help?"
"Well, my dear fellow" says Lumiere, "follow the white rabbit. He should be around here shortly.... You didn't happen to bring a lovely, dainty feather duster with you, no?"

“No, no feather duster. Only the Mean Laureen red hair.” Jeff ad libbed. Lauri had to smack him for that one but then all three of them yelped because she forgot and hit Jeff with the hand Lumiere was in. So it hurt all of them. Fortunately, Lauri didn’t drop Lumiere; she only shook him up a little as she shook her injured hand. “Serves you right.” Moaned Jeff. They walked forward trying to follow the crazy map. As weird as it appeared on paper, it seemed to follow all the passageway turns and twists. Whenever they were unsure Lumiere would give them advice or shine extra brightly so they could see better. “I feel like I am on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.” Jeff said.
“Wish I had one of those little cars because my feet feel like they ran the 440 in the Arizona desert.” Lauri agreed. Lumiere suggested they stop and rest on the nearest boulder so they did.
Oddly, the map showed a little dinner plate as they sat down. Jeff looked behind the rock and sure enough there was a plate of food and some water. “Probably sent by Mrs. Potts.” Lumiere said. The adventures decided to take their chances on the mysterious food because they were very hungry and it had been a long time since the famous Nat soup place. As they were finishing up their meal they saw the rabbit at last. Only it wasn’t the white rabbit, it was Brer Rabbit singing and a whistling. The adventures followed as rapidly as they could since they had to put on their backpacks and grab Lumiere. The rabbit lead them on a merry chase so they didn’t even see which way they were going. “Looks like this is my laughing place.” Said the rabbit and vanished.
The adventures looked for him but he was gone. Instead they were next to a waterfall off a mountain that splashed them. Next to the waterfall was a path. Jeff pulled out the map and he saw that there appeared to be a passageway under the waterfall. Jeff looked at Lauri and Lauri looked at Jeff. They both shrugged and took the path with Lumiere guiding the way. Under the falls was a small cave. In the cave was a small table with three amulets. Each was a different color but all contained a liquid and all were beautiful. Next to the velvet case holding the amulet was a small sign. Choose wisely for only one will you touch before the others disappear and only one will help you in this quest. How to chose....................

The two adventures just stared at the amulets. It was hard to choose anyone. The first was a lovely green bottle with a stopper of green stones. The second was a lovely blue bottle with a diamond stopper. The third was red with an orange glowing disk at the top. The fourth was a deep blue with a lite blue stopper. Above the four were a small box and a little brown bottle with a cork stopper. Humm. They discussed the possibilities for over an hour. Each one had maybe written all over it, literally. Okay, what to do. Then Jeff had an inspiration! He was after all a hero in the Indiana Jones mold which leads to the obvious answer. Jeff reached over and picked up the brown bottle. Horns sounded and the other bottles disappeared. "You have chosen well, grasshopper." Laurie hugged Jeff. "We have it, we have it." So now they had the Water of Life, the map, the enchanted lamp, and their trusty backpacks. And before them appeared a glowing door. It looked like they were getting near to the end of the adventure. They moved toward the door and stepped through. They found themselves........
