Does anyone not understand this when their at the parks? Lee have professional videos that show the parades and fireworks its beyond annoying to see everyone's cell phones/iPads up in the air. You can't just YouTube it?

Also from my person speaking if your trying to record it your missing the moment as it's happening I found myself enjoying things a lot more when I didn't feel the need to take a picture / video of it

I don't understand a lot of it, no. But as I mentioned on another thread, I am planning on recording Celebrate the Season because my sister is in it, and I want her to have a video of herself - not just the show. So no, I can't YouTube that version. However, I have no doubt the YouTube version will be much better than mine and if I wanted to see the video just for viewing/remembering purposes, that's where I'd go. Also, I'm going to be using a small handheld video camera, not a phone or IPad.

Edited to add: I plan to wait until the last showing at 11:20, so I can get a better spot and so I'm not in anyone's way - unless the weather is iffy.

Part of the reason I buy Memory Maker is so I'm not constantly walking around with a camera in hand. I get plenty of pictures without having to take them myself, and get to experience the World like you said.

I like to turn around and video my kids watching the shows. The look on their little faces is priceless. We have one where my dd, after the DL fireworks, said in this sweet little 4 year old voice "I have a lot of wishes in my heart." So cute! And I have a video of my 3 year old telling everybody how terrible Illuminations was. I guess she wasn't a fan, lol.

I'm not going to question anybody's desire to record the show, but I will say it's rude to hold up your Ipad and block the view of those who could have seen the show too if they hadn't just happened to be standing behind you and your Ipad. I don't care so much about the smaller phones.

That's the thing nowadays is that all the recording devices had these huge screens on them, and it's really distracting. The GoPros I don't mind as much, especially if they are worn on the head or chest (no poles though), but iPads are just terrible! The proliferation of devices today adds to the problem. It used to be nobody had video, only still cameras (no screen), but now EVERYBODY has a phone and are not shy about using them absolutely anywhere it would seem.

I'm with the YouTube crowd personally, but since I'm usually there alone I an not trying to capture anybody specific either.

The topic begs the question - which came first - the YouTube video of the parade or the people recording it on their iPads and phones?

I really dislike the pad people and what they do at these performances. :confused3 :sad2:

I Mis-read this as "I really dislike the Bad people and what they do at these performances"

Change that one letter and this post becomes the perfect stock answer to half the posts on the DIS! :rotfl2:

Man was that an annoying part of my vacation to throw the big iPads up and constantly people moving them around...very annoying. I wonder what it was like years ago when it was pitch black and the only light you saw was the firework glare...must have been a great ambiance.

Oh it was.

I don't have any problem with people using cameras or cell phones that aren't of the iPhone 6 plus size. It baffles me that people bring ipads into the park. I've got a ipad mini and there's no way I would want to tote that thing around the parks for 12 hours. It's bad enough carrying a bottle of water, a few snacks and my dslr around all day.
