The Nazi Prince of Britain

Should Harry be pushed further?

  • Yes, he's done too much damage

  • On the fence on this one

I think the poor kid needs to be left alone. Yes he's a prince, and yes he's in the public eye, but people need to leave him and his brother alone.

Is the Royal Family even relevant anymore? Sheesh. He's a kid. If we got as upset over what every over-privileged kid did we'd have no time to focus on anything else.

I feel sorry for the poor kid--it must be hard to have all your mistakes broadcast for the world to see. Yes, it was a stupid and thoughtless thing to do. But he's young and as others have said, if he wasn't a prince, no one would have heard about it.

I think it was in poor taste definitely, but I also think maybe people are reading a bit too much into it. Demanding that he go tour a concentration camp and then have formal education on the Holocaust.... I seriously don't think that Harry is a Nazi who needs to be reformed-- he just made a bad judgment call.

He apologized, I think that's enough.

I totally agree.

He's not that young - he's 20 years old - certainly old enough and experienced enough with the media to know better. Shame on him.

Well said.

His mother, Diana and his Aunt Fergie were sure crucified in the media for every single faux pas they committed. Look where it got them---one of them is dead and the other is an outcast.

Does he seem to be sending up a warning flag that something is seriously wrong? I mean, he HAD to know he wasn't going to be able to get away with that ...

the Prince is in the media all the time. he's got to be more careful about what he does than the average 20 year old.

I see nothing wrong is sending him to Auschwitz for the 60th anniversary of tis liberation on 1/28 as part of the British delegation -- it's not punishment, it's part of the job he has as a member of the roayl family, to represent his country at a historic occasion. and that he'll learn something (we hope) isn't a bad thing.

Now, I don't believe for one moment that Price Harry is a Nazi. I think he did this for shock value for his friends and never dreamed it would leak to the press. Whether he likes it or not, he is a royal representative of his country and has a duty to his country who helps pay for his privileged lifestyle.

We aren't talking about a regular teenage boy. He is a young man, who I am sure, is well versed on the "do's and don'ts" of royal life so I don't buy that he made an honest mistake or boys will be boys, those excuses just don't apply here. He knew better, especially with his recent behavior of drinking, drugs, and attacking a photographer. :(

As for going to visit the concentration camps, I don't see this as a bad idea for anyone.

By saying that he is still a child, or that, if he wasn't who he was no-one would care, is trivializing the issue. The Nazis killed over ten million people many of whom were not Jewish. By wearing that outfit, he was giving Naziism credibility. Is that something that we need? Is that something that we want? Is that something that we can just sit back and look at and say 'Poor Harry, bad judgment'? I, for one, think not.

What he did was more than stupid and the fact that he, along with whomever was watching him and whoever educated him, thought it was okay tells us a lot about the state of mind of a lot of people.

Some education on this subject would not hurt him.

Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

Read Philip Roth's THE PLOT AGAINST AMERICA and tell me that it couldn't happen here.

Wouldn't you think that someone like the Prince would have *his people* with him most of the time. Aren't there advisors and such that would say "Hey Harry, that might not be the best thing to wear, bud." If he didn't stop to think that it might be inappropriate, I would think someone along the way would have clued him in.

Yes, absolutely, exactly. They have a whole team of people who's entire jobs are to make the royalty look good outside of the palace. That's what they're for. Why didn't one of THEM have the common sense to stop him from leaving dressed like that? Granted he himself should have known better, but still. His fault for wearing it, their fault for letting him out in it.

The sad reality of our world these days is that almost nothing is "private". With the advent of the camera phone (which I understand was used in this case) there are folks who can be taking your picture any time, anywhere. Many locker rooms are banning cell phones for this reason - just think, the person on the phone next to you while you're changing could actually be taking your picture, which could then be sold to an internet site!

Unless a celebrity is in the company of just a few close, trusted friends they can't ever let their guard down. All because the media is hungrily waiting for pictures like that.

What he did was incredibly stupid, and yes, I think a visit to a concentration camp and a Holocaust museum, and a public, personal apology would be very appropriate.

I would hope that everyone gets a chance to visit a concentration camp or at least a Holocaust museum. It's an experience that's impossible to replicate, and personally it shaped the way I continue to look at the world today.

I'm not going to say that he's a typical 20 year old - because he sure isn't. He's from an extremely privileged royal family. He's had the best schooling there is. You can't believe for one second that in those years of schooling that he didn't learn anything about the Holocaust.

It was in very poor taste, it was insensitive and I think he needs to do the world tour of Holocaust museums and concentration camps until he gets the message.

He's a typical teen who does dumb, thoughtless things!!

Cut him some slack...Bigger problems in the world than the mischievness of Prince Harry!!!!
I agree. However he will be sent to Auschwitz to "atone". Now what about Mel Brooks and The Producers. Because its a comedy does that mean he had "good taste" as opposed to the Prince's bad taste??

Will Mel Brooks be going with him? ;)
