The Mysterious World INSIDE of Thunder Mountain....

I was wondering if anyone or a CM knew the answer to this...............

What does it look like on the "inside" of Thunder Mountain? I ask this because before the recent refurb, I was riding it at night and could see that there were "cracks" in the skin of the mountain or in the seams of the mountain and noticed the "inside" of the mountain (the part under the "skin") was lit up. You could see the light coming through.
I'm sure it's nothing but to us obsessed peope, I'm sure it would be cool to see.

I'm one of those that "just has to know". I hate the "wondering". It just kills me. :hourglass

I actually have been all over the insides of BTM! While riding it, it shut down and after sitting for sometime, some CMs came and escorted us out (we were stuck going up a hill where the boulders appear to be falling). We went through a door into a very non-Disney atmosphere. I was surprised at the incredible amount of trash and dirt within the ride. Lots and lots of ri-bar (spelling????) and grey. It was surprisingly open once we wound our way down the stairs. After the open area, we went back up and came out at the loading area.

Haven't been to WDW yet, (July 05') but I'm a AP holderat Disneyland here in so Cal and about 2 months ago we got stuck on BTMRR here. Stuck right in the middle of the second lifthill. After 10-15 minutes the CM's came and "evacuated" all of us and escorted us off the ride. Got to go down through some tunnels and walk through some exterior scenery. The "insides ' was pretty much like any standard behind the scenes area. Lots of plain concrete walls, miles of pipelines and misc. tubes, big electical units and such. Did not see the Seven Dwarfs laboring on some hand crank shaft or Chip n' Dale running on a industrial sized treadmill.

BTW, do you know what National Park BTMRR is inspired by?

when you get e-vacted off the ride and under the mountain theres a yellow path that you follow which is pretty much the cleanest part of the insides... once you venture out of the "yellow road" its a bit diffrent low laying pipes extra parts everywhere... but not to make it seem like this is how it is just on this ride its like this on every attraction thats why its called back stage and you as guests arent suppose to see it...

Haven't been behind the scenes (or rather under the scenes) at Big Thunder but I will guess you can get a good idea this way. Take the Backstage Tour at MGM Studios. After the big spectacular soaking wet Catastrophe Canyon event the tram goes around to the other side of the set. Big Thunder backstage is likely very similar, although with much less pipework.

Or, take the word of the previous reply-ers.

Last July I was on COP and and my youngest starting screaming she had to pee and NOW! I took her out thru the exit door and we were on the backside of the show. I found it amusing the graffiti on an old tool shed like building right outside of Tomorrowland. You don't think of backstage as being like that, do you?

I'd like to know how people got back there to do graffiti unless it was immature employees.

its a way for people to leave there mark... mostly by CP's but also by other CM's for instance on Splash mountain the week before a CP leaves they go and paint a hidden mickey on the ride some where

QueenofCelts,

You get a set of "Gold Mouse Ears," for correctly identifying Utah's Bryce Canyon NP as the inspiration for BTMRR.

Not to hijack this thread, but can you name another Disneyland attraction inspired by a US National Park?

I am not familiar with DisneyLAND at all, just WDW. The only thing I can think of would be Wilderness Lodge - Yosemite. :confused3
