The Muster Station Location Thread

What rooms go to which muster station and is it on the starboard or port side of the ship? That's a project that no one has undertaken yet. If someone would volunteer to compile the data, and cruisers were willing to remember their muster station and submit it, I'm sure that within 6 months we would have 90% of the staterooms accounted for.

This post from another thread got me thinking...

What if several different DISers volunteered to each compile data from part of each deck?

For example, I'll take Deck 7, Cabins 7500 to 7638 (this is the starboard side of deck 7).

If people who stayed in any of these rooms will send me a PM with the room number and muster station, I'll compile all the info and post it here when it's complete. I'm going to print off a map of Deck 7 from the DU website, and as I get PMs, I'll just write the muster station on the stateroom.

If we get about 10 people to do this, it shouldn't take too long.

The only way this won't work is if they periodically change muster stations...does anyone know if the stations are always the same?

I was thinking about this. I figure if it isn't complete enough by May, some of us should have enough spare time in 2 weeks on the ship to figure it all out...a scavenger hunt of sorts!

I don't think that rooms change muster stations. It appears to me that the muster station that you report to is glued / permanently attached to your room.

Yes, the muster station letter is on the map on the back of the door of your stateroom. We were in 7010 & were outside on deck 4. In 7503 we were outside on deck 4. I think that it was station E, but not 100% on that one.

I know very well that 5650 is Muster Station Q (Animators Palate). The SPRs are outside, but I don't remember the letters.

I can tell you that 7123, 7125 and 5634 were all in Animator's Palate! I don't quite remember where 6083 and 6085 were, but it might have been "L", which was outside on the port side of the ship.

What in the heck is a muster station?

A muster station is where you report to get on a lifeboat and abandon ship. On embarkation day, there is a short drill during which everyone has to don their life vests and report to their muster station. That way, in the unlikely event that you have to abandon, you know where to go (similar to the fire drills you went through in school). Each stateroom is assigned to muster station, designated by a letter (hence the references above). Most are on the promenade, outside on deck 4, but many of the aft cabins report to the Animator's Palate restaurant (which I think is actually 4 stations), and many of the forward cabins report to the theatre inside on deck 4 forward.

While I certainly wouldn't book a room based on where its muster station is, it's nice to know these things ahead of time

I'm curious as to why? What is the purpose? Do people actually choose staterooms based on where the muster station will be?

Yeah, I would prefer Animator's Palatte or the Walt Disney Theater over standing on deck, but this seems like a weird exercise.

Sure...it's no deep, dark secret, lol!

There's frequently been talk on the boards about "What station does cabin 9999 go to?" I don't think most of us would chose our stateroom based on which muster station it goes to, but there is curiosity about it.

So, no this doesn't serve the greater good, it won't be a major leap for mankind, and it won't gain us entry into Heaven, but maybe, just maybe, someone might appreciate the info.

But don't worry, participation isn't mandatory!

I know that room 2012 is muster station B in the Walt Disney Theater stage left in the back.

Don't remember the letter but 5134 is in AP near the podium.

I would love to have this information. We are going on the cruise regardless of where our muster stations are. However, if we had known the muster stations in advance, we would have picked a room with an indoor station for my mom and stepdad. DSD is disabled and standing for any length of time can be trying. This is actually the only part of the cruise that I'm worried about. Between taking the stairs and standing in the heat for 20 minutes, he will likely head straight to bed after the drill. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will be indoors.

Becky, if it were up to me, this would get you closer to heaven. I'm sure there are others who have health concerns that would be grateful for this info. Thank you. Thank you.
