Is anyone else losing their mind that they are basically replacing Muppetvision 3D with a Frozen show at Disneyland? From the articles I've read, although the Frozen Fun show is touted as limited time (which is the same thing they said about the WDW Frozen show at first), there are no plans to bring back Muppetvision.
Are even more iconic characters falling victim to the Ana and Elsa craze? How does this play out in the long haul? What happens when Frozen begins to thaw?
I am outraged that they would replace Muppets with yet another Frozen thing. Sure, the Muppet franchise isn't the money sucking juggernaut Frozen is, but they are a fan favorite for a lot of people. Doesn't that matter? What's happening to Disney's priorities?
If they want to capitalize on Frozen-mania, can't they do it without stepping all over beloved characters and compromising so much of the vision Walt had for his parks? (Let's not forget Aurora's float, the fact Mickey and Minnie are now walking in the Christmas parade, how Cinderella lost control of her own castle show, and don't even get me started on how the fictional Arendelle managed to slither into Norway Pavilion...and that's just a few things.)
This is getting out of control. It needs to stop. Now. They can satisfy the Frozen fans without spitting in the faces of everyone who isn't a fan of the franchise. When they axed the Muppets, they went too far for me. How long before they're gone from WDW, too? Probably not long considering the upheaval at DHS.
With everything that's been going on lately (not just Frozen--there is so much more), I'm fed up to the teeth with all of it. I plan to speak out the only way that Disney hears...with my money. No idle threats from me...when I say it, I mean it. I'm not going to WDW or feeding the beast in any way until this all settles down and the parks become recognizable to me again.
If that never happens, so be it. My heart will be broken. But lately I've begun to feel like my window of opportunity to walk into the world that Walt built has closed firmly behind me. I'm so, so sad to believe that it's over, but what else can I think at this point?
Thank goodness for YouTube and my classic Disney collection. At least I can look back and remember fondly. Unlike some of these Disney execs, there are people out there who will forever cherish what Walt brought to the world...even if the magic no longer exists for everyone.
