I wanted to make sure that my daughter got to see most of the major Disney films that are featured in Disneyland before me went later this year.
I've created a list below and thought I would share it with everyone here (Not sure if a list like this already exists on these boards).

I imagine I missed a few. Let me know and I will add it to the post.
I stuck with mostly major movies and/or attractions.

Hope this helps!

List of movies made from attractions

Haunted Mansion
The Pirates of the Caribbean

I think an important one to add is The Princess and the Frog. Tiana showed up in a lot of places when I was there last, and she had a little street show in New Orleans square. I think she is in the new parade too.

Here are some others you could add, but I think you hit all of the major ones already.

Up (Most kids have already seen this, but the wilderness trail in CA has had an Up theme tacked on with Russell and Dug hanging out there)

Winnie the Pooh (I'm referring to the new movie that came out a couple of months ago. It was actually really good, and it is still in theaters where I live.)

A Goofy Movie (Not terribly mandatory or anything, but I've seen Max walking around the park or at the character meals before)

Mickey and friends cartoon shorts (You know, those short cartoons starring the main gang. I think a lot of kids know who Mickey, Donald and Goofy are, but haven't really seen too many things where they are featured.)

Lilo and Stitch (Stitch walks around the parks quite a bit, mainly in CA I think. I imagine he would be strange looking for the child who has never seen that movie)

Fantasia (A lot of elements are taken from this and used in Fantasmic)

Also, there are some movies that are shown during Wold of Color, that aren't really represented elsewhere in the parks.

Pocahontas, Wall-e, The Lion King, Fantasia, Bambi, Lady and the Tramp, Cinderella and Lilo and Stitch.

I like your list :goodvibes

I would definitely add a Goofy short or too (GSS). A few classic shorts or the fab five would be a great idea so she is excited to see the characters. And not a major attraction, but Mary Poppins is around quite a bit and also in the parade.

Thanks for this list; it's very helpful, even if I think "Song of the South" deserves some kind of historical warning label. :rolleyes1 ;) Good to know that Tiana and Mary P can be found in the park!

Great list.

I agree that although there are no attractions directly related to Mary Poppins....or Jungle Book or 101 Dalmations......., Mary & Bert, Baloo & King Louis.....& my girlfriend Cruella are often found strolling around. So i would add those 3 movies to the "must watch" list.

& since not only is Pinocchio the greatest animated film of all time,.... it's also one of the top ten films (of any type) of all time.....so it should be viewed once a year, just because. :thumbsup2

Also....i could have sworn i saw Mulan characters the last time i was there.

:)

You may or may not be interested in this, but if you go on youtube there is a ton of old disney videos with walt himself talking about the park and/or his characters....this time before going down I wanted the kids to have an idea who he was.

I would add The Incredibles. Saw Mr. Incredible and Frozone at DCA last week.

If I'm going to DL when Haunted Mansion Holiday is going, I'll watch Nightmare Before Christmas.

Thanks! What a great list! I was wondering the same thing about which movies would be good to watch before we go :)

We have been doing the same thing, having a "Disney Movie Night" a couple nights a week so our children can get used to all the movies and characters. Thanks for the checklist! I love that you included what rides they match too! :thumbsup2
