The movie Hancock - Unrated Edition. How bad is it?

My son just received the unrated edition of Hancock for his 13th birthday. I suspect that the people that gave it to him didn't notice that it was unrated. I haven't seen Hancock, but it doesn't seem like it would be raunchy, even in the unrated version. Maybe it just has more bad language. Has anybody seen it? Is it inappropriate for a 13 year old? He does have a gift receipt, so he can exchange it.

I only saw the edited version. There was some ( ok alot ) of foul language in there, but I can't imagine what the unedited version would be.

I saw the unrated version...and honestly, I did not even know it was unrated until DH told me it was..

The movie itself though was not all that good sadly.

Funny that you mention this... Over Thanksgiving, bought the unrated version when we were visiting DH's family, and sat down to watch it with his 80 yr old Oma.

We were a bit mortified by the "jet-propelled sperm" scene in the beginning. Not exactly a comfortable thing to watch with your very religious grandma-in-law!!!

That was a bit much...I guess that was part of the unrated part...

Yeah I agree. I thought that was shocking and un-necessary. And I watched it alone. I don't think I would be comfortable with my 13 year old son watching it. There's a lot of raunchy stuff in there.

I also agree that it wasn't a very good movie and I was sad about that. I really like Will Smith.

hmmmm.... I guess I'll suggest that he exchange it - probably for something else altogether. This is actually a movie for his PSP, and there weren't very many choices for PSP movies.

I think they only call it "unrated" because it is not the version that was submitted for rating and shown in theaters. That doesn't mean the "unrated" version is worse or more raunchy than the rated version. It just contains some scenes that weren't shown in the theater. I would probably say that, in his case, the rating given to the theatrical version (PG-13) applies to the unrated version (which I bought and watched). However, I never saw the theatrical version so I don't know which scenes weren't in it.

Personally, I would be ok watching this movie with a 13 year old.

My dh and I just watched it with our 18 yr. old DD. She had seen it at the theater. Anyway until she told me I didn't realize that it was the unrated version. She said the super sperm scene was really the only difference. There was no nudity you just get the idea of what happened. The woman (still dressed) kind of lands across the room and there is a sort of explosion through the roof of his trailer.

I saw the theatre version with my 14 year old nephew and don't recall being embarrassed. It was violent, though (in a cartoony way until the end, which I thought really was pretty harsh.)

We enjoyed it.
