The Most Magical Time of Year in the Most Magical Place on Earth! Nov. 2010 NEW 4/5!

DAY 2 - Pt. 2

I left off with something terrible happening in the line at IASW. I was of course preparing to take some pictures, when I turned my camera on and got the error message, “this card cannot be used”. What? The memory wasn’t full, certainly the card was ok. I turned the camera off and back on, hoping the pesky message would go away, but it remained. I tried taking the card out, cleaning it, reinserting it, but nothing would work.

By this point we were on our boat touring through the land of the colorful dolls and I was consumed in my iphone trying to google what the cause of my camera problem. The verdit: the card was fried. :sad1:

All of my pictures – gone. I was devastated. This card held all of my Italy pictures, pictures from Miguel’s birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, decorating for Christmas, and of course the first part of the trip. While some of those things were backed up on the computer, the Christmas décor, Thanksgiving and the first of the trip were not. Plus, the card was an 8 GB, so I hated that the expensive card would just have to be thrown away. So, this is obviously the reason why I had no food pics for our first dinner, and minimal pictures of us in the last update. I tried to go back and recreate some of those first night pics (such as the room), but some just couldn’t be duplicated. The event made me so nervous about my camera the entire trip! I was so worried it was actually my camera that had a glitch and any other cards would eventually die on me as well.

So, the only thing to do to fix this unfortunate situation was to buy a new memory card. We stopped in Castle Couture, but they did not sell them. We were pointed in the way of Exposition Hall, where we were able to buy a new card. So, problem sort of solved. At least we could take pictures again, but we weren’t sure if we could save the one’s we had already captured. (We later found out when we returned home that the pictures are simply gone forever). :guilty:

By the time we left Expo Hall, the Move it! Shake it! Celebrate it! Parade was coming down Main Street.

Since we only had about 30 minutes until our lunch ADR at Crystal Palace, I suggested that we wait until later to use our SM FP’s and instead watch the parade and check into CP a little early. Miguel, being the thrill-seeker that he is, vetoed this idea and off we went to Tomorrowland.

Crowd Shot!

By this point, the park was getting crowded so we were weaving in and out of people trying to make it to SM quickly so we could make it back to CP in time for our ADR. I don’t think I’ve ever seen SM load so slowly! I was starting to panic that we woudn’t make it to our ADR on time and would be sent away from our date with Pooh and pals.

Soon enough, all of the worry was forgotten as we were zooming through space! My last ride on SM in January was a little uncomfortable – I felt kind of jerked around and left with a pretty bad headache so I was expecting the worst for this ride too. Thankfully, there was no trouble this time around! The ride was so much fun! Miguel and I both laughed the whole way, and the laughter continued when we caught a glimpse of our ride photo! Look at the expression on Miguel's face!

After laughing at our funny faces on Space Mountain, we hightailed it out of Tommorland. Would we make it to our CP ADR on time, or would we be turned away at the door?

Oh No Courntey. I am so sorry you lost your pictures. That is terrible. I am glad it was the actual SD card and not your camera. That is a much easier promblem to fix, rather than having to replace the whole camera. I hope there are no other picture mishapes on your trip. Camera's do the weirdist things sometime :confused3

:scared1: I would have been devastated about the memory card! I'm so sorry, Courteney
Wow, those crowds do look crazy! Glad you enjoyed your ride on SM more this trip!!

Oh Courtney! I feel sad just reading about losing all those pictures! "Gone forever" is not something I would have wanted to hear either :(

Glad you could get a new card though!

I'm joining in!! I'm so sorry about your pictures!!! Camera tragedies can hit you hard!! I forgot the battery on the charger the day of our wedding site visit at Disney! I was so aggrevated that I cried thru my meal at Kona!

I'm sorry you lost your pics, that really stinks. We have so many problems with cameras that I carry around 2, and believe it or not our Fuji Wal-Mart special camera works extremely well after 5 years, while my new Kodak is pain in the butt and I just got it last year for Christmas.

Are food pics coming? ;) lol love me some Disney Food Porn :yay:

Count me in as a new reader! Can't wait to read/see more! We are leaving for Disney in a week, so I'm loving the Christmas pictures!! :)

Oh that is my worst nightmare :sad2::sad2:. I seriously bring like 6 memory cards with me when I travel for that very reason...what happens if one dies? I also take SOOOO many pics at WDW that I've started taking my laptop with me and dump all my pics onto my hard drive every night. Randy thinks I'm nuts but that is the exact reason I did it! For future reference, my camera sometimes throws an error code when my battery is getting low for some reason??? :confused3 So you could try that too if it happens again.

Oh, Courtney! I'm SO sorry to hear about your memory card! Sounds like you didn't let it upset you too much, which is good!

Can't wait to hear about the rest of the day! :goodvibes

Oh no! I'm so sorry about your memory card. That would have upset me too...I probably would've cried all through small world! I'm just thankful you were able to buy another one!

Love your Space Mountain pic :thumbsup2

Ugh that's too bad about your memory card! :sad1: I brought a back up card this trip, and the next time I go, I hope to finally have a laptop so I can immediately take them off the card and save them, just in case!

I know what you mean about SM, I thought when I rode it in May it was really jerky and uncomfortable, but this time, it was so much better, we had so much fun on it! :woohoo:

Hope you made it to CP on time!

That is such a bummer about the pictures! I can only think of one good thing to say: at least it happened early on in your trip. Not much comfort, I know, but I'm trying!

Loved everything else about your updates!
We really liked SM this trip, too. In fact, we spent more time in Tomorrowland than we ever had before (partly cause the park was so crowded we just didn't feel like walking through it!)

Hope you made it to CP!

Yeah, it would have been much worse if my camera was the problem. I don't know what we would have done at that point. :confused3

:scared1: I would have been devastated about the memory card! I'm so sorry, Courteney

Devastated pretty much sums up exactly how I felt!

The crowds were definitely pretty impressive on this trip. Probably the biggest we've seen on our trips together.

Oh Courtney! I feel sad just reading about losing all those pictures! "Gone forever" is not something I would have wanted to hear either :(

Glad you could get a new card though!

I'm still sad. :sad1: I hate knowing that I can't get them back.

:welcome: That's terrible about your sit visit! I would have cried, too! It's amazing how much worth our pictures hold!

And congrats on your upcoming wedding! I'm glad to have another bride joining in. I'd love to have you join me on my honeymoon PTR as well! :goodvibes

I would be tempted to take a back-up camera now. You just can't be too safe!

Yes, there will be lots of food pics coming! :woohoo: I was good this time and took pictures of everything we ate!

Count me in as a new reader! Can't wait to read/see more! We are leaving for Disney in a week, so I'm loving the Christmas pictures!! :)

:welcome: So glad to have you reading along! And yay for your upcoming trip! Will you be doing a TR when you return? If so, I'd love to follow along! :goodvibes

I will definitely be brining extra memory cards next time! And, I'll be brining my laptop to download all of the pictures, too. I will be taking lots of precautions in the future! If something like that happened on the disneymoon...I don't even want to think about it! :sad1:

Oh, Courtney! I'm SO sorry to hear about your memory card! Sounds like you didn't let it upset you too much, which is good!

I tried very hard to not let it affect the trip. Since it was such a short one I knew even pouting about it for a day would be too much!

Luckily Disney thinks of everything and they have extra cards waiting for these kinds of tragedies! It would have made the situation even worse if we had to go off-site to buy another card!

Ugh that's too bad about your memory card! :sad1: I brought a back up card this trip, and the next time I go, I hope to finally have a laptop so I can immediately take them off the card and save them, just in case!

I will absolutely be taking a back-up card and my laptop and secure those pictures as soon as possible! Funny thing is, I even brought my laptop this time, but didn't bring the cord to hook up the camera! :sad2:

Maybe they've smoothed out some of the bumps on SM, because I could definitely tell a difference!

That was exactly what I kept telling myself - It's only the first few hours of the first day! And it did help. If this had of happened at the end of the trip it would have been much, much worse.

I'm joining!

That's horrible about the memory card. The biggest thing is always the picture, it has nothing to do with the card itself.

You were there the same time my mom and I were. :goodvibes

yikes!! i would have definitely been in tears if that happened to me!

cant wait ti hear more!!!
