The most fantastic, magical things can happen ............... Day 03 Update/July 18

Ugh not a magical check in at all! But yummmmmmmmmmm with the food pics! I had that Tiki drink with the Grey Goose last month, and DH and I loved it

At least the AP came with pixie dust (saved a lot as they went up in price twice since we had bought ;) and we got the photopass for free)!
That drink is really good, isn't it? I thought it was pretty strong though, maybe because it had been a while since breakfast.

My DH monitored my cocktails so I could walk around the world without stumbling :) I missed the AP pixie dust YAYYYYY

I noticed that most of the stands in the parks that sell alcohol have signs up stating that you must have a passport for ID.

Yes, because I am going to walk around a theme park with my passport in my pocket... No way. The passport stays in the room safe. At least I have my personal drinks shopper who has a legitimate Florida drivers license, so I will send him to buy my drinks if this ever turns out to be an issue for me.

Seems like you had a great start at Epcot, Karin! I only stayed once at the Boardwalk (my home resort) and loved the walk over to Epcot. I was never a fan of the old BCV design (and I seem to belong to the majority who thinks the new design is a great improvement), but I really want to stay there once for the pool! Do you own at BCV? It seems to be a resort that is difficult to get into because it is so tiny.

I think the passport requirement is a Florida state law for buying drinks. Not sure why the driver's license isn't accepted....I would never carry around my passport either!

Oh!! The new BCV rooms are SO much nicer than the previous design...and boy,oh,boy, those Villas were way overdo for a big refurbishment. I always feel sorry for DVC owners paying all those dues (or whatever it's called) and then Villas not being refurbished often enough. If I owned DVC, I'd not be a happy camper if Villas were years overdo for a refurb, like BCV. In 2004 I came VERY close to buying but only SSR was available and I have never cared for that resort. I had always read and heard from friends who own DVC to be sure to buy at the resort you love...so I passed. And the perks to buy were pretty low that year as well. Anyway, now that Sophia is here, do wish I'd tried for a resale through Disney. Live and learn! ;)

That food looks soooo good! Beaches and Cream...Ohhhh..sooo good! ::yes::

Your room looks amazing I Love it !! I think when I win the lottery I will stay there:goodvibes We enjoyed the Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream with one of our groups !!

Nice job done by your DH. ;) I only had that one drink, and not being used to alcohol much (I only have a drink now and then on vacation) I could really feel getting a bit light headed. I was glad when we had a bite to eat and the lightheadedness ended.

Same here. I will not carry my passport to a themepark, no way. But then I guess I am WAY over the age where they need to check. :rotfl2:

It was a great start at Epcot and got us right into the Disney spirit.
We actually own SSR, as it was the only one offered at the time we bought. We had not done enough research so did not push to buy at any other resort. If I could have, I would have bought OKW.
Funnily enough I have always been able to get BCV. And with that vacation, we had been on our summer vacation at the 7 months out point and I had completely forgotten about booking. I was I guess a week late and got it the day I tried. I was really surprised as this was Easter week and we stayed the whole week.

So, does every Floridian/American hold a passport then, or is this just for foreigners? With reading on the cruiseboards that very little Americans hold passports how does that work out otherwise?

The room was really nice. They did a great job in the refurb now.

We own SSR, the only resort I have absolutely no intention of staying at. :rotfl2: But as I told Magdalene, we had not done our homework before buying and the only thing offered to us was SSR. It was reasonably prices, so we bought. Had I known better I would have bought somewhere else, but so far we have been VERY lucky with getting where we want to stay.
I am going to start an overview of our PTR for this summer and you'll see we got a lot of great DVC resorts without a problem.

We love BCVs especially for the close proximity to Epcot. I mean you leave the resort by the side door and over the little hill and you are actually there. Doesn't get much better, well, maybe BLT and MK would be as good. ;)
Both BC and YC are great resorts and we enjoyed our stays. I'll keep my fingers closed for you for a decent discount so you can stay there too.

Rosie...or maybe we deserve a resort treat for our 70ths!!!! ::yes::

You both definitely do! :goodvibes

Karin I don't even have a passport. I do have to get one this summer for my December trip but I might get a passport card which will cover flight requirements

I believe its only a requirement for foreigners. :(

Jeanette, be sure to check about using the passport card. When I renewed my passport, I decided to get the passport card in addition to the passport and use Card for US travel... but I was told TSA would not accept the card for any air travel, only the passport. Hopefully rules have changed since 2010 when I renewed...but double check to be sure. :thumbsup2

So frustrating since it was the TSA that suggested it when I contacted them. Thanks for the heads up Christine and Jill

Maybe it is accepted now - it must be online...or check the airline website. Fingers crossed!

Not international just regular air travel within the US. As of October I think they won't accept NJ Driver's licenses. Sorry for not being clear

Ok, that is a horse of a different color. :) I would still get the passport book. It's the ultimate form of ID. My wallet was stolen a couple of years ago and my passport literally saved me. I used it to get my new driver's license, replace all my bank cards, etc. Plus I'm free if I see a good travel deal overseas. :)
