The Most Expensive Free Trip Ever - TR Link is Up! Pg. 164

Somebody once said that you have to use a new word a certain number of times to get it ingrained into your vocabulary. So, I'm one down and a-certain-number-of-times-minus-one to go.

Me too. Jenbear123 said that there's a good one where you build your own roller coaster simulation and then ride it in this simulator-thingee machine. The Sum of All Thrills, I think? That is a "must do"!
i have heard that as well, i wonder how many times it is you need to say it?

2 years ago they had hte build your own plastic robot, but did not see it on our last trip, do they have any of those anymore, i know they had that make the recycle paper stuff, but dont think parker will care much for that.

Hi Glenn!

Go James! :cool1: Those pictures of him playing the game are too cute! :goodvibes Would have loved to see that.

Hello Carissa! :wave2:

It looks like he's got Batman's utility belt on to play that game, doesn't it? It was a fun afternoon.

Yes! Tempura edges out just about everything else! In fact, it's downright gagamatic. And worse yet, it hangs for days!

Once it's down, it should just stay down!

I read in a TR yesterday where somebody wrote "for all intensive purposes" instead of "intents and purposes". Yes, it bugged me. No, I didn't correct them. I'm not that nit-picky really...I just knew you wouldn't mind being, what's FauntleroyFan's word...."knowledgified".

:lmao: That's a good one!

Is that jumping video game still there? I don't recognize it. Although last year was the first time we spent any significant time at Innoventions. Only because it was pouring buckets outside.

I don't think so, we didn't see it last year. We didn't do a lot of exploring at Innoventions, but since it was 5 years ago, I think they've replaced it.

Isn't stuff constantly being replaced there? Like that's the way it's supposed to happen, right?? :confused3

Dan, I just noticed your ninja post, which eluded me for a day and a half!

i have heard that as well, i wonder how many times it is you need to say it?

I was thinking about this, and I wondered if it might have been a M*A*S*H episode that I was thinking of. :rotfl2:

After a little internet search, I found this bit of script:

"Klinger: I'll be back in a trice with the ice.

Charles: Trice?

Klinger: Fifteen ways to a better vocabulary, Major. The keystone to executive advancement is enhanced by good verbiage.

Charles: Funk and Wagnall are whirling dervishly in their mausoleum.

B.J.: Great verbiage, Charles.

Charles: I'm on day fourteen."

(It also noted that Jamie Farr (Klinger) saying "ways" was probably a mistake -- it should have been "days" to set up the joke.)

So, I may have been thinking of this, but it still doesn't answer our question about how many times you need to use a new word for it to "sink in". Oh well.

I didn't see any robot-building station, but we could have easily missed it.

Yes, they are always innovating... I mean innoventing :confused3

That they are! Constantly reinnoventing themselves.

That's my understanding.

I tried for 2 hours to quote and post this last night, but there were "technical difficulties".

I really should explore more of FW, but WS always screams louder for my attention. The Sum of All Thrills looks very promising, and I really want some of those adorable little Velcro froggies.

I'm not interested in Velcro froggies, but Sum of All Thrills is calling my name! :thumbsup2

The opererative word, which I unskillfully omitted was FREE Velcro Froggies. One of those things I can easily see putting a magnet on the back of, so it can grace my frigdge at home and remind me of the trip.

that just proves how sneaky i am eluding you for that long.

i have also heard it in a movie before that they say it but can not remmeber what it is.

im thinking it is around 2 weeks you need to use a word for it to become part of your vocabulary.

i think it is gone and is the paper thing now, well was the paper thing not sure if that is there anymore or not.

:confused3

Ah yes, Free is not something you find a lot of.

Practicing up for a stealthy :tiptoe: visit to the Contemporary?

It'll be interesting to see what exhibits are there when we go.

I could sworn I posted yesterday , but I don't see it !!!!

Well I'm glad you posted today!

Thought so.

So we’re on day 6, the day we begin our PChef portion of the trip. I don’t remember the specifics, but we obviously checked out of our Sheraton suite (goodbye separate bedrooms, kitchenette, and dining table -- some very nice attributes I must say, despite the pain of the timeshare tour) and drove over to Port Orleans Riverside. This was our first time seeing this resort, and over the next few days I’ll come to really, really like this place. We were given a room in the Magnolia Bend section of the resort, i.e. the “mansions”. Looking at a map, I think we were in the Magnolia building, because I know we were pretty close to the East Depot bus stop. Anyway, Magnolia Bend means no trundle bed, because they are only available in Alligator Bayou (I didn’t even know to ask about this at the time), so James, being the smallest, was the odd-man-out and got to sleep in a sleeping bag for the remainder of the trip.

We settled in and made our way over to Animal Kingdom. Construction was still in progress on Expedition Everest, but the peak of the mountain was visible that summer. Unfortunately, the ride wouldn’t open until April of the next year. We could only look and dream of what it would be like.

I hate to keep saying “I don’t remember”, but I’m having trouble remembering all that we did that day….I’m sure we must have ridden the safari ride, I can’t imagine us going there without hitting that attraction, and we probably went on the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail.

Now I’ll refer to a portion of the Animal Kingdom park map, below.

AK_Map_pic.jpg

I think we ate at a counter service place in Asia, indicated by the black arrow on the map. When we were at the park last summer I noticed that there isn’t anything in that building anymore except the restrooms. Am I crazy? There was a counter service place there back in 2005, right? This is the building with the fountain that all the kids like to play in -- the water looks like a sheet of glass until you put your hand into it and disrupt the flow. Anyway, I got some food for us here while Judy tried to get a table for us in the small courtyard between that building and where Yak and Yeti is now (“L” on the map, the courtyard looks like vegetation on the map). It had started to rain and she wasn’t able to get us a table with an umbrella, so we stood there in our poncho’s, trying to eat quickly. As it started to rain harder, a nice family invited us to squeeze under their umbrella. It was pretty tight, so I mostly stayed out from under it, relying on my poncho, but I was glad that the kids had a decent place to get out from the rain.

This is kind of a random aside, but the blue arrow on the map in Africa marks another good place that we have found to sit and eat, although I don’t think we did on this particular trip. A lot of people walk right by this area, but it has a few tables and chairs and can be a nice place to eat and take a load off.

The yellow arrow in Africa points to a popcorn vendor booth. Now this is a story that I do remember pretty well. The family and I were outside of Flights of Wonder waiting for the next showing, and James wanted popcorn. He must not have eaten enough soggy lunch. So I walked with him along the path from Flights of Wonder to the vendor booth in Africa and as we got there it began to pour. I mean, the skies opened up. There was probably only about one foot of roof overhang on that building and we were squeezed up against it so tightly that even the cast member inside probably felt that his personal space was being violated. While there, I bought James his popcorn. Hey, why not? My rain poncho only went down to about my knees and I remember the rain hitting the ground so hard that it would bounce off of the pavement and was starting to soak my legs and feet. I reached Judy on her walkie-talkie (this was in the days before we had two cell phones, so we had walkie-talkie’s if we ever split up) to let her know that we were hanging out at the booth for a little while until the rain let up. She and the girls were taking similar actions at Flights of Wonder. James was happy just standing there, eating his popcorn. popcorn:: Soon the rain started to let up a little

, so we started back down the path. I don’t think James ever looked where he was walking, he was so intent on that popcorn. People walking the opposite direction would laugh as they saw this boy enjoying the absolute heck out of this bag of popcorn, in the rain.

At some point we saw Flights of Wonder (before or after the popcorn expedition -- who knows?). This is a pretty good show, and this was the second time we’d seen it, with the first being in 2001. I remember thinking that I liked the guy who played the part of the “lost tour guide” better back in ’01. I’m not sure if that guy was really better, or if I liked him better because he was the first I’d seen.

Here are the only two pictures I took of that show. I guess I didn’t even attempt to get a shot of when the bird swoops over the audience, with the shutter-lag that I had to deal with on that camera.

Apparently we made our way over to Festival of The Lion King.

Another great show, although I’ll always remember the awe I had when seeing it for the first time.

We had reservations for Boma that night, so I’m sure we went over to Animal Kingdom Lodge and walked around a bit before our ADR time. Then, I’m pretty sure I stuffed myself, tasting a sampling of as many buffet items as I possible could.

But since my memory’s so bad, that’s just a guess. ;)
