The Most Expensive Free Trip Ever - TR Link is Up! Pg. 164

:rotfl2: Oh that's bad! Why is "Smoke on the Water" playing in my head?

Sorry 'bout that! Down here, where I work in FL, we support the tourism industry, though I'm not technically in the tourism industry... and ALL I've done for days at work is talk about the oil spill, wonder about the direction of the oil spill and tell the world our beaches are okay, despite the oil spill. I've had that song stuck in my head in an endless loop, ever since they decided to light the Gulf on fire! :headache::rotfl2:

BTW, our beaches are okay, despite the oil spill. Have I mentioned that yet? Shoot me. Now-ish.

I hope they add more showings so we can try to fit it in. I need to look at our ADR's and see if we should tweak any times. I really would like to see it again. I really don't want to wait as long as it takes though!

The question is are the beaches around Pensacola going to be OK four weeks from now. We have tenatively changed plans to continue to New Orleans instead. Tar balls on Dauphin Island is a bad indicator. There is a report that there is a 50 mile long 300 ft. thick layer of oil trapped at the isothermic layer about 2000 ft down making it's way to the gulf stream. :scared1:
...........

Too bad your pictures of Fantasmic did not turn out. The shutter has to be open too long to get good pics with normal point and shoots. I switched over to video mode after looking at a few previews. I have 2 ADRs for Sci Fi in case they add a second Fantasmic on the 6th. We want to see Hyperspace Hoopla at 7pm but the only ADR available was right at 7:00 pm. I picked up a second at 8:15 and will cancel the other if it's added. If not then I guess we will miss Hyperspace Hoopla since Fantasmic is a priority.

Great update! I love EOS and try to eat there at least once while there.

Haven't seen Fantasmic yet.

We ate dinner at Earl of Sandwich, walked around Downtown Disney, did a little shopping, and then went back to MGM to catch Fantasmic!

Now that would make a great Fantasmic package!

Sorry, these pictures are pretty poor, but they’re the best I could do with that camera.

Aren't you so glad you upgraded cameras? I can't wait to see how much better my night shots are.

Where I am the oil spill is not top of mind, which is a shame really, because it is quite a tragedy ecologically and economically.

Hey, how are your beaches? Just kidding....glad to hear it though.

I know....with the fewer showings I'm reading about how early people are lining up. I'm not planning on seeing it on this upcoming trip.

Oooo, that oil layer doesn't sound good. I sincerely hope it can be dealt with somehow.

The little camera did the best it could. I'm not too disappointed.

I wasn't planning on staying at DHS that long, but you talking about Hyperspace Hoopla has me wondering if we should try to hang around for that. Trouble is, I have our Biergarten ADR for that Sunday evening and I'd have to try to move that to another night. Hmmm. Biergarten is the one restaurant that my kids unanimously want to go back to.

Great update! I love EOS and try to eat there at least once while there.

Haven't seen Fantasmic yet.

Earl of Sandwich is pretty good. It's amazing how they get really long lines of people, but somehow get everyone through quickly, and the sandwiches are quite good.

Oh, you need to see Fantasmic at least once.

Now that would make a great Fantasmic package!

I hadn't thought of it that way! I'm not sure how easy it would be to do that now, with how early people are lining up.

Aren't you so glad you upgraded cameras? I can't wait to see how much better my night shots are.

Absolutely. I still have trouble with some dark indoor things like PotC or HM, but overall a big upgrade.

I'm here....I'm behind....but I'm here.

It's okay, Auntie Winkers was needed to help out the new mommy. I knew you'd make your way over when you could. As you get caught up, don't forget to comment. I'd like to read what you think.

So what is the latest with how early people are lining up now?? I don't go the Theme Park Boards anymore- too much bickering. But how long before the show I need to get there, may be the deciding factor on IF I attempt it. Anyone know??

I think I read that last summer when they reduced the number of showings people were starting to line up like 2 hours before showtime. I think I read in somebody's TR that cast members were trying to discourage people from lining up that early, but they were doing it anyway. It may be different now...you may have to post the question on the Theme Park boards. :scared1: Yikes.

Thanks! I will, but very reluctantly. I was just over there an hour ago, and got sucked into a flash photo rant turned ugly. Things go sour so FAST over there; I really try to stay away. I come here to the Boards to escape life, not get riled up. Make sense?

Laying it on thick?? I was merely channeling my inner Hucifer.

Hope no one minds me jumping in to answer this :goodvibes I keep hearing that if you go on a night where there's 2 showings, go to the second showing of it and you don't really have to wait.

It does make sense. A "flash photo rant"? Like discussing people using flash on dark rides like PotC or something?

Laying it on thick?? I was merely channeling my inner Hucifer.

I wonder what's happened to her. There haven't been any updates to her thread in a while. I'm thinking of going over there and posting a :bored: smiley. In the meantime I've been reading her old pre-Patrick report. Good stuff!

Mind? Are you kidding? You are expected to jump in if you've got info! ;)

Thanks for the recommendation -- it makes sense!

Thanks! You may have spared me some drama. :goodvibes

And you were just referring to the Theme Parks boards, not standing-in-line drama.

I do what I can :snooty:

Thank you, thank you!

Oh and glennbo123, obviously I'm still here. I've just been lurking for a while, sorry!

I'm glad you're still here, but I did have to check whether I owed you an official welcome. Thanks for hanging around!

onelilspark is right, if there are 2 showings in one night, go to the second one. The first showing ALWAYS gets full and you need to line up at least 2 hours before. For the second showing, I'd recommend lining up 1 hour to 45 minutes before. The CMs always discourage lining up early for the second show but if you want the best choices of seating, I'd get there early. Hope that helps!

Just wanted to pop in here & say that I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your pre-trip report. I've laughed:lmao:, I've cried:confused:(in joy), & I've made my DH read some of the funnier highlights (which is saying something...he's not much of a forums kind of guy:confused3). You have in fact elicited my very first post! Thank you & keep up the entertainment!

Thanks jenbear. Maybe it was one of your TR postings that I read that? I think maybe Great Biscuit wrote about lining up early too. I don't know, so many threads!

:welcome: queenbeaz and thank you for making my day!!!

Congrats on your first post. I must say, you couldn't have picked a better place on the DIS to do it (although I have a bunch of friends on here who I wouldn't have been surprised to read such a post on their threads either).

I am really happy that you are enjoying reading this. To read posts like yours makes it worthwhile. Well, that and the friendships we develop bantering back and forth and posting on each other's reports. If you've enjoyed this one, I hope you've read my TR from last summer (the "I Paid $5" one in my signature). I'm partial to it. I think I'm a better TR writer than a P-TR writer. I don't have a lot to say about bags and park shoes, (oops, I think it's shoes and park bags -- see what I mean) and so have made this a TR-within-a-PTR with my flashback reports.

You've cried? I'm not sure that even I've cried in this process. Not since Up! anyway, but let's not go there, something got in my eye, seriously. :sad1:

Like I said, you made my day with your first post....so, we expect great things with your second one. ;) No pressure.

Yes, one of those threads. there's usually about one a week, and they always get shut down after a couple days. Seems like a lot of stuff gets nasty. :confused3 Whatever.

Hucifer?? :confused3:confused3:confused3 Who knows. I check every so often, but lately, nada.

NO, Theme parks Boards drama. I can only HOPE for drama while I'm in line for F! - always looking for TR fodder. ;)

On the bus, James asked a lady sitting nearby if she had had her Jedi training yet. She said, “What?” :confused3, and we had to explain to her what he was talking about.

LOL! So cute!

And glad the lady feigned ignorance... a litghsaber fight wouldn't be nice in a crowded bus :rotfl:

We ate dinner at Earl of Sandwich, walked around Downtown Disney, did a little shopping, and then went back to MGM to catch Fantasmic!
WOW! That sounds like a plan out of my dreams! :cloud9:

This is another great show at Disney and is a “must” if you’ve never seen it. I’ll always remember being amazed at watching moving pictures projected onto a water fountain when I saw it for the first time in 2001. Disney magic at its best!
You know, in my trip to WDW with my sister's family "Fantasmic!" was the only one attraction/show that everyone agreed was excellent... spectacular and nostalgic for the grown-ups, and magical and "not so scary" for the little ones.
