The Most Amazing and Belated Solo Trip Report Ever!

The ride itself was much improved from before. I remember being very underwhelmed with the ride when I was 12. This time around it was much better! Still not as good as DL, but a ton of fun. I was able to spot the tracks throughout, but then again I’ve always been good with the dark. From ‘bah’ to ‘WHOOHOO!’, Space Mountain is a ‘Wheee!’.

I'm REALLY looking forward to experiencing the changes in September. Glad to hear they're well-received!

I stopped in the gift store and located a cast member to see of they had anything to fix it with. The girl came back with a paper clip, which lasted all day. XD So Disney Lanyard: 0 Paper Clip: 1! (I did end up getting another lanyard back at the hotel that evening).

I'm surprised they didn't just replace it!

When aliens invade helpless planets, call be for emotional support. With my lack of aim I’m sure I wouldn’t be helpful with a laser blaster.

Should aliens (or zombies) invade, I'm in the same boat as you. ::yes::

The TTA. Never been on it before, so I decided to ride it! Once I found the entrance, that is. I swear, I walked by the escalators at least twice before I saw them. This ride, while slow, does give some great views of the park. And a sweet peak at space mountain when the lights are off! I would save it for later in the day in the future, however. Or when it’s hot.

One of my absolute FAVORITE things to do in the MK. Mostly for sentimental reasons, but still...
But I was not prepared.

For the Awesomeness.

That was the Cream Cheese Pretzel.

:thumbsup2

You are too funny!! What a great morning you have had already - waking up to giraffes, playing ring toss and blasting away aliens (even if you didn't get all of them ;)) You would be SO much fun to travel with - if you ever want to do another solo trip for two, invite me!!

Too bad you have to do it solo it would be much more fun with family and friends

Well, to be fair, I never asked her to replace the lanyard. Didn’t occur to me at the time, I guess.

Thank you! Yes, it was a fantastic start overall. I don’t know if I’m as much fun in real life though. In any case, unless college magically becomes free, I won’t be doing any trips all that soon. Though if anyone were willing to take me along on a trip for the company of my sheer awesomeness, I’m not saying no. :P Ok, not likely, but a girl can dream!

Too bad you have to do it solo it would be much more fun with family and friends
Yeah, most likely, but I’m still glad I went solo. And I would do it again at the drop of a hat if I could. :P

Woo, my TR of awesomeness is back! Thank you very much to the Mod who moved it!

Just wanted to let you all know that I am writing the next instalment as we speak, even though I have to admit I'm having trouble with it. I'm getting a serious case of the WDW nostalgia blues.

That is hard to deal with. I love reliving it as I write it, but it makes me want to book my next trip NOW!!

I'm here, along for the ride!! I have been contemplating a solo trip, so I'm excited to hear about your experiences.

Have a good day!

Day Two: Part Two!
In our last exciting installment, I had left you all to contemplate on the wonder of the cream cheese pretzel. After a little bit of people watching and absorbing some of that ‘OMG I’m in Disney World!’ magic, it was time to exit tomorrowland and make my way throughout the rest of the Magic Kingdom. Though I don’t have any pictures of it, I think I went on Stiches Great Escape (I cannot remember if it was on this morning or later in the trip though. I simply cannot ever remember things in order without picture or some other memory assistance). In any case, I thought it was alright. It would certainly be improved with omitting the burp smell though. I was very content just seeing the animatronics though, since I am a bit of a sucker for nice animatronics. Ok, I’m a big sucker for animatronics! :D

But my jumbled memory aside, I made my way to the super secret path of wonder.

You know, this one:

IMG_1999.jpg

Yes, apparently, it’s invisible to most people. How fascinating! As a side note, I love the trains at Disney. They’re just adorable.

IMG_1998.jpg

This path exits in Toon Town, which was fun to explore, but if I went back I may skip it. However, it is full of cute and clever things to take photos of!

Look at that, Mickey has his lights up!

IMG_2000.jpg

When I buy a house, I would very much like a mailbox shaped like my head. That talks when people pass it. Also with lasers.

IMG_2001.jpg

The walkthrough houses were decked out in holiday fashion, but my attention was mostly on that fish. You go, fish. Show that rod who’s boss.

IMG_2002.jpg

Mickey, you get that fish out of a bowl and into a proper aquarium right this instant!!! Or I’ll come and find you, and bother you about it until you do! Grrr, doesn’t he know that keeping any non labyrinth-breathing fish in a bowl is a sure way to a dead pet?

Other than that, I may or may not want those slippers.

IMG_2003.jpg

Hey look, it’s my kitchen! I mean, um… no, my kitchen pretty much looks like this. Unwashed dishes, stuff on the fridge, paint on the table. I’m afraid I was moving at a rather quick pace to avoid getting in peoples way, so I didn’t get the best photos.

IMG_2004.jpg

I very seriously intended to tell Pluto this, but I never ran into him. Anyone ever do this?

IMG_2005.jpg

Hey look, it’s a tent I’m not going into!

IMG_2006.jpg

And some genetically altered vegetables!

IMG_2007.jpg

IMG_2008.jpg

I was enamored with the book titles. ‘IT’S NOT THE YEARS… IT’S THE MILEAGE’. ‘REPLACE Your Wheels Without TIRING’. ‘HOW to TOON-UP Your Car’. ‘Getting to the root of YOUR FAMILY TREE’. ‘AUTO-BIOGRPHY’. ‘Give Your Car a BRAKE’. Yes, it’a all very punny.

IMG_2009.jpg

IMG_2010.jpg

Toon Town: It’s Corny! Hahahaha.

IMG_2012.jpg

And now for Minney.

IMG_2013.jpg

I’m afraid I didn’t get many pictures inside Minnies house, but check out the rare specimens she keeps in her sun room! The punnienes continues!

Daisies!

IMG_2024.jpg

IMG_2025.jpg

Buttercups!

IMG_2026.jpg

Tiger Lilies! Tulips!

IMG_2027.jpg

I also took a quick look into Donalds boat, but sadly the play fountains were not on. This whole area was cute enough, but I’ll shed no tears when it’s removed to make room for the new super awesome new fantasyland! Speaking of….

IMG_2028.jpg

IMG_2029.jpg

First things first was an attraction I’ve never seen, Mickey’s Philharmigic.

IMG_2030.jpg

IMG_2031.jpg

A great little attraction, this one! Especially for those of us who want to see more of Donald! So, of course it’s funny. Also, you get to wear these oh-so flattering glasses!

IMG_2032.jpg

Again, no pictures. But I do believe I went to Winnie the Pooh at this point. Cute, but ever since I saw the videos of ‘Pooh’s Honey Hunt’ in TDL, I think my standards for dark rides have risen. I’ve never even been to TDL! Though I will, some day. TDL and DS, you hear me, I’m coming for ya’! Someday far in the future though, when I’m not a starving art student. At this point in my TR, though, I would like to thank my iphone, for both waking me up and entertaining me in line. I had this fishing app I would play in line and look like a moron with the casting and reeling motions.

Last things last, I walked over to the ubiquitous ‘It’s a small world’. Since my last two trip was to Disneyland, the outside threw me for a loop! Not exactly as eyecatching, is it?

Nope, IASW, not the same effect. Try again. :P I do, for some reason or other, enjoy this attraction though.

IMG_2034.jpg

Hey look, it’s 11:30!

IMG_2036.jpg

I did try to test out my cameras non-flash photo taking abilities in this ride, but not too much success. Still, I’ve got some for you all!

IMG_2039.jpg

IMG_2040.jpg

IMG_2042.jpg

I like the stylized animals much better than the dolls.

IMG_2052.jpg

IMG_2053.jpg

IMG_2058.jpg

I’ll leave you all here with these adorable dolls. In the next installment, we’ll be moving on to fronteirland!

IMG_2069.jpg

:thumbsup2 I'm really enjoying your TR! Sounds like a great trip! The upgraded view must have been a nice surprise!

i just found your tr. it's very good. your pictures are good, too. makes me want to go back now! thanks for sharing it with us.

Hey, look at that, I actually am working on the next bit, and I’m not waiting a week to do it! But like I said, I’m not called the queen of procrastination for nothing.
I'm here, along for the ride!! I have been contemplating a solo trip, so I'm excited to hear about your experiences.

Have a good day!

Katie

Go for it! My solo trip was amazing, and went smooth as anything. You have a good day too!

That is hard to deal with. I love reliving it as I write it, but it makes me want to book my next trip NOW!!

Unless I win the lottery, I’m not going to be able to book another Disney trip for at least 3-4 years. >_<

:thumbsup2 I'm really enjoying your TR! Sounds like a great trip! The upgraded view must have been a nice surprise!

It really was! And I wasn’t expecting it at all. I was expecting, oh I don’t know, a view of cars, or garbage bins, or maybe trees if I was lucky. Thank you!

i just found your tr. it's very good. your pictures are good, too. makes me want to go back now! thanks for sharing it with us.

Why thank you. It’s making me want to go back too. But I guess I’ll just have to be content with writing this TR, which I will continue now!

Day Two Part Three! Adventure is out there!
Or, in which I spend far too much time staring at a gravestone.

I spent a good amount of time just wondering around Liberty Square, which is quite different from new Orleans square in DL. Though I must admit I like new Orleans square a wee bit better than Liberty Square, it also has it’s charms. Again, I was too busy gawking (read: Geeking out because I was in DISNEY WORLD) to take pictures, but when I returned in a few days for the filming of the Christmas parade I had plenty of time for pictures.

But as enchanted as I was with the little details (I made a note to look for the sagging window shutters), I was making a beeline towards the ominous old mansion around the corner. I approached, with trepidation, as lightning blasted and thunder roared! The wind howled through the trees, casting shadows like giant claws across the façade!

IMG_2070.jpg

Ok, so I may have exaggerated a little. It was sunny and warm with blue skies and I might have well have been skipping.

I have to admit I prefer the architecture of the WDW version over the DL one. Maybe I just have a thing for brick. I also notice that some of the shrubbery around building seems almost sickly… I wondered f this was done for effect, since all the vegetation elsewhere was lush as could be. If so, it adds well to the overall effect of an abandoned mansion, yes?

IMG_2072.jpg

IMG_2071.jpg

I love how steadily the line moves on continual loaders like the HM! Though I was happy enough that I got caught outside of the door for a few moments (before they load the next group into the ‘stretching’ room) as I caught this:

IMG_2073.jpg

But then again, it may have all been in my head…

IMG_2076.jpg

The ride was, as always, a ton of fun. I loved the new bits, especially the stairway room. It really added to what used to be a bit of a dull stretch. And, though it was a small thing, I loved having a Doom Buggy all to myself so I could sit in the middle!

IMG_2077.jpg

IMG_2078.jpg

Oh, WDW and it’s puns. HAHAHAHA.

Hey, did you see that?

IMG_2079.jpg

There seems to be a toad in the Pet Graveyard. Poor thing, must’ve caught his death on a wild ride of some sort…

IMG_2080.jpg

I weaved backwards again to meander over to Adventureland (As you may note, I took it rather slow this trip). And enjoying the lovely views on the way there!

IMG_2081.jpg

IMG_2083.jpg

I had only ever seen the recent, tarzan-ized tree house at DL, so I was eager to see the Swiss Family Robinsons take on tree-top living.
Yay, water wheel!

IMG_2084.jpg

IMG_2085.jpg

Wooo, coat of arms!

IMG_2086.jpg

Hey, it’s that water wheel again! (I was oddly enchanted with the water wheel. I think I want to build one now)

IMG_2087.jpg

IMG_2088.jpg

IMG_2090.jpg

Flowers!

IMG_2091.jpg

IMG_2092.jpg

Love the views!

IMG_2093.jpg

IMG_2094.jpg

IMG_2096.jpg

IMG_2097.jpg

Can't wait to read the rest!! :cool1:

Day Two: Part Four
Yes, there is still (lot’s) more to go!

As I wondered over to the river, I could hear some sort of commotion going on. It seems I had caught the tail end of the new Riverboat Show! Never to fear, I would catch the full show later.

IMG_2101.jpg

Le gasp! It’s a disappearing riverboat!

IMG_2102.jpg

If you have a much better camera and a person to shoot, one could take a fantastic portrait of a person on that bridge with BTM in the background.

IMG_2103.jpg

But now, my friends, it was time for me to make way to one of my favorite rides in all the parks, and the ride which defines Disneyworld for me.

SPLASH MOUNTAIN!

IMG_2106.jpg

IMG_2107.jpg

YEAAAH!

IMG_2108.jpg

But first, lunch. XD I had you all fooled! Well, actually, I grabbed some fastpasses. I then went to Pecos Bills, where I rustled up a burger and learned how to use the dining plan for a meal (without too much trouble).
Burger with some fixen’s (fried onions for the win!), a sprite, a yogurt and some apple slices. I warn you, this is about as healthy as it gets for this trip!

IMG_2110.jpg

Why yes, I did spill some soda on the tray. Thanks for noticing.

While I was still waiting on my fastpass time for splash mountain, I wondered over to BTM, which had a relatively short wait time (I think it was under 30 mins).

IMG_2112.jpg

IMG_2113.jpg

And just so you all know what time it was while I was in line:

IMG_2114.jpg

IMG_2115.jpg

BTM was more fun that I remembered! Heck, there were lots little details I never noticed before: The lighting in the cave, the earthquake, the mountain goats… I give this one a 5/5. That’s a keeper!

And now, at lone last, SLPASH MOUNTAIN!

IMG_2117.jpg

Being a single rider really expedites the waiting process, even in rides with no single rider line. How thrilling is it, when the cast members ask for a party of one, and you can fling up your hand and say ‘ME!’?

IMG_2119.jpg

All of these little details just get me more and more geared up for the ride. Plus that song, which always manages to cheer me up. How can it not?

IMG_2120.jpg

Those are some biiig carrots.

IMG_2121.jpg

IMG_2123.jpg

Anyone else notice the little voices coming out of this bird house?

IMG_2124.jpg

YOU ALL LOOK LIKE LITTLE ANTS FROM UP HERE!

IMG_2125.jpg

It just isn’t a Disney trip for me without multiple rides on Splash Mountain. Awww, is it over already?

IMG_2126.jpg

BlueBird! But it is not, sadly, on my shoulder.

IMG_2127.jpg

Ok, it’s not the best photo, but you may make out me and my ‘rawr’ face and claws. In the font!

IMG_2128.jpg

And now I indeed had a chance to catch the riverboat show! I hadn’t seen the Princess and the Frog yet at this point (loved it, by the way), and I was enthralled with the songs! In fact, I think I may like some of the riverboat versions of the song better than the originals!

IMG_2129.jpg

i just recently went on my first solo trip to (absolutely the most amazing time ever!!!!) so i'm pretty excited to read the rest of yours!! sounds like you had a great a time as i did

i just recently went on my first solo trip to (absolutely the most amazing time ever!!!!) so i'm pretty excited to read the rest of yours!! sounds like you had a great a time as i did

It's a blast, isn't it? I finally have some free time today, so I may do yet another update tonight. It really depends on if I can monopolize the computer time! XD

You are way too funny! BTMR is officially my fav ride at MK (I can't stop giggling whenever I ride it!) Your pics are amazing!

Day two: Part whatever.

Or, can you believe we are only halfway through the first day at the parks?

Seriously, this is going to be one long ride of a trip report. Make sure you are all comfy and cozy in your seats!

All three mountains conquered with a couple fastpasses in hand for later that evening, and quite a lot accomplished, I was feeling pretty darn good! Yes, it was turning out to be a great day! One of the best of the trip, even if that was just the ‘OMG I’m in Disney World!’ effect talking. The weather was perfect (not too hot, not too cold, no rain…) and despite my admittedly slow pace, I was getting a heck of a lot done. I don’t think I ever once felt rushed or had to run anywhere!

I think it’s time for another ride, don’t you?

IMG_2132.jpg

I just love how atmospheric this attraction is. I tested out my cameras no-flash photography skills were, and a couple came out ok I think.

IMG_2134.jpg

IMG_2137.jpg

I think I like adventureland the best, themeing wise. Though really, I think my favorite land at the time was whatever land I was in!

IMG_2141.jpg

Mmmm, preety fountains…

IMG_2142.jpg

Fire! And a waterfall! With fire! Yay fire!

IMG_2143.jpg

XD Fire is nice. Despite some attests to the dullness of this version, I being the animatronics loving kid I am, was eager enough to see the new version of the tiki room. I liked the DL version all right. Especially the cheesy jokes (“Heir Schmidt has no Hair!” May I also mention, my Dad’s last name is Schmidt and he in fact has no hair).

Oh, what a pretty waterfall. The little door seems so obvious now, but at the time I was oblivious. Just looking at all the fire and plants, lalalala. Playing on my iphone, tralalala.

IMG_2144.jpg

IMG_2145.jpg

AHHH the waterfall is opening! It’a going to eat us all! Hey cool, there is a fun pre-show!

IMG_2146.jpg

IMG_2148.jpg

I’m pretty sure I can guess who’s luggage is whos….

The show was pretty darn cute, and I did like seeing the mix of old style and newer animatronics (the storm part was good fun to boot!).

IMG_2149.jpg

IMG_2150.jpg

IMG_2152.jpg

This is, sadly, the best picture I could get of my favorite part.

IMG_2154.jpg

Oh Iago, you just take a beating and keep on ticking, don’t cha?

IMG_2155.jpg

May I mention here that I want singing flowers? I really would love them! I think one could easily construct some simple flower animatronics to fit in a garden. The hard part would be programming the movements to the music!

IMG_2157.jpg

Once out, I knew what time it was. Oh, I didn’t look at my watch or my phone. I didn’t judge the time from the length of the shadows or the position of the sun. I was running on the time of the stomach! And you know what it was telling me? It was ice cream time!

IMG_2158.jpg

I had heard good things about the dole whips, but disliking pineapple as I do, I went with orange flavor! Yum yum yum. I just sat in this little seating area and watched the people pass by. What a nice interlude!

I spent some time after my yummy yum of yummyness to just wander around a bit. I poked in a shop, looked at the flowers. Hey, those are some cool statues. I think I’ll just stand right in front of them and take some pictures….

IMG_2159.jpg

AHHHHHHH!

IMG_2160.jpg

I never even knew these things were here! Did you? I would’ve spent hours on this when I was little!

IMG_2161.jpg

While I was here, the wait for JC was something like 15 mins. I think I know what I’m doing next…
