the morning you leave??

I'm a cleaner too! I clean for about a week before we leave and also change the sheets usually 2 day before we leave. That way when we get home the house looks great and bigger plus the sheets are clean! And since we're staying in a condo we have our own washer and dryer so I won't have as much laundry as I would usually! I can't wait!!

I'm glad I'm in the company of clean freaks and organizers!!! My family and friends have always picked on me for cleaning and putting clean sheets on before our trip. When we came home to a clean house after a 11 hour trip from Buffalo, Hubby was very appreciative for the clean house and clean bed.

My trip isn't until April but I've already planned out my cleaning days, packing, and what food to get and pack. :woohoo:

I won't leave unless the house is spotless, but that is taken care of the days before (or even the day before) we leave.

All packing is done well in advance.

The car is loaded the night before.

We stop mail (beginning date the day before we leave to be sure it is in effect) and also the newspaper.

The morning of our drive down from Ohio (to wherever we go on vacation) we take the dog to the vet (his kennel) in DH car, we put our pillows in the car we are taking, we unplug all "electrical" things (I am a bit paranoid :rotfl: ... we unplug the computer, TV, AC, fan, toaster, microwave, ect...), check all windows are closed and locked, fill the cooler and strap it in the drivers side passenger seatbelt (accessible but safe), grab my "car bag" (has Trip Tik, vacation information, maps, cell phone chargers, trip info, telephone numbers, money, spare outfit/undergarments/socks for all three of us, H&BA needed for overnight stay enroute, meds, Tylenol, inhaler, contact "stuff", glasses for all three of us, ect...) and leave! We always stop at McDonald's (it is a routine we established years ago) and grab a bite to eat on the way! :goodvibes

I am so glad I am NOT the only one anal about coming back to a clean house. My mother established this trait in me when I was growing up. We have left at many different times of day, driven and flown, so each comes with it's own planning. We have an estimated time for our trip next summer and I always start by planning ahead. This next trip, my cousin, who will almost be 21, and is excellent with my children, will be accompanying us as well as the rest of my fam on our trip. Right now we have 14 confirmed as going with the possibility of a few more. But with having SO many people this takes advance planning! :)

As for our morning routine, I have all kids bathed, clothes layed out, and everything packed in the car the night before. I have extra's and travel sizes of everything so that the last thing we have to do is wipe down the sinks, and turn off the lights. We will be going for two weeks this next trip, so frig is empty. I ALWAYS pack tons of snacks, and we usually eat breakfast after going through security. We eat stuff with protein so they don't get cranky, and i pack a variety of snacks and activities for each child in thier own backpack. Even at our last trip our youngest daughter was only 16 months old and had her own. I am fortunate that we are going to our grandmother's home after our week at Disney and we go to a laundry mat and do all of our laundry the day before, so we come home with clean clothes too! We've even done our laundry at disney - the kids swim and we spend a couple of hours doing our laundry! It's SOOOOO nice!

You guys are making me so excited already!
