OK, at first I was kind of in the whole "Shock and Awe" mode when the changes hit. I just LOVE the convenience of having to flash and card, sign, and walk away from a table, knowing that everybody's happy, including the waiter.

With hindsight being 20-20, I can remember times when the waiter would greet us, hide, take our order, hide (for a long time), and then put the check on the table. Meanwhile, they are at other tables, singing songs, pushing the girls' seats under the tables, and spinning yarns about their home country. I just kind of knew that those tables were not on the Dining Plan.

Oh, and yes, I do not like the "Hit and Miss" quality of some of the CS meals, plus, burgers are boring.

So personally, I think I would rather enjoy eating two TS meals a day. (I could NEVER eat 3 big meals a day!) And I can say goodbye to CS! Yes!

See, it's like this: I have 2 kids that on the old plan would probably have to upgrade to adult, due to the child-service fiasco that they put on (I mean, how much Mac and Cheese and carrot sticks can one kid eat?) Now, we can go "Buffet" for lunch!

And-

We normally go for 5 days. That means we will have credits for 4 nights. With the 3 credits per night deal, and us eating only 2 credits per day, I'll have 4 credits left. Now, that means that we can go one two signature meals and still have credits for our last day! Or, we can pig out and go to a breakfast or something.

FLEXIBILITY!

I like that!:hippie:

you have 3 ts per day if I understand correctly. You can use your ts as a counter or ts , you also have snacks and the refillable mug

so you better plan to eat a little more :thumbsup2

I  the new delux dining plan... Its right up my alley.. I also like the fact that the tip is NOT included. I always give more anyway. I only had one experience on my last trip where we had bad service and nope he didn't get anymore tip. I was a waitress for 10 years so I know how hard it can be. I always tip more than 18% with good service.. Plus if the service is bad I always leave at least enough to cover their taxes.. But thats just me.

I am also excited about the Deluxe plan :goodvibes
I am not going to miss the 2007 plan that was cheaper. I will be willing to pay the 18% more (tip) plus increased price for 3 meal credits a day. Thank you Disney
I know that my service will be excellent now? Thus I might leave 25% for a tip. Money talks as they say :hippie:

I also love the Deluxe DP. I like the idea of being able to have 3 meals a day if I want, or have extra to do with as I please such as dinner shows. The idea of the refillable mug is great. I don't mind the tip not being added also. I don't mind paying for good service at all. It's the poopoo service I don't like paying for. This way I can control who gets what.

A table service meal can take about 2 hr of your day, getting there, waiting, courses, check.... SO with 3 TS your day will be spent eating and traveling to eat.. I don't llike the plan at alll,

TS for dinner, maybe takes 2 hours but even that is rare unless you are at a signature location. Generally a character breakfast is 45 min (too see all the characters), only about a half hour if you ate somewhere without characters. Lunch again is about 45 min to an hour depending on location. A signature dinner or dinner show of course will take longer but an average TS dinner is also an hour. With the exception of maybe dinner, travel time to a meal is minimal - don't plan a meal in a park where you won't be for the day. If I'm going to MK for the day, we plan b'fast at CP or CM (at our hotel), lunch at the Plaza or Liberty Tree Tavern. No extra travel time there. For dinner we may pick a MK resort if we plan on coming back for fireworks/spectro or we might head over to an Epcot resort or WS for dinner if we want to see Illuminations that night. Poor planning will make you waste time getting to your meal. The people who enjoy the Deluxe Plan already know how to enjoy plenty of table service without "wasting time."

but I'm lazy and curious! Thanks....also what about adding wine to it? I read something about this....

I appreciate the summary from you experts!! We're still going in 2007 but this will help for a future trip!! I went in Jan 2006 when the plan was 'new' and the service was great, the snack credits were horrible though! LOL.

Some people find Two hours out of the day, though I think that is the exception more than the rule, would be a welcome time out from the hustle bustle in the park itself.

We are also going to do the Deluxe next year. I always hated the idea that we only had 2 meals a day, and then when doing Hoop Dee Doo or CRT, we don't get anything for the next day.

This year we used the kid's club one night while DH and I went to YC for steaks. It was great. This kids had a ball, we enjoyed an excellent dinner at a slow slow pace.

We willl do this again for sure. I too like the idea that we all get the refillable mug. The kids are getting a bit older and I have no problem with them going by themselves (with me lurking around) while they fill up their own mugs.

Can't wait.....problem is, that its 10 months away:scared:

Two hours for Lunch? Naw...

Go to Cosmic Ray's. Stand in that line and go and try to find a table that isn't either outside or close to the bathroom or near a waste basket. Good CS's are just too crowded, and there's this mad dash for a good seat.

TS for lunch would probably take about 45 min. to an hour for lunch, in a air-conditioned place with food that isn't the old burger-fry-sandwich thing. Plus, we can use our snack credits for SNACKS- bottled water, juice, fruit, etc. In other words, we wouldn't care what they do to the snack plan, as long as juice, water, and/or fruit is still available.

We will definitely be doing the DDP Deluxe next year! I like it and I am excited about the changes! I do not like the tipping issue, but what can you do!? Complain all day????????

I too - am looking forward to the Deluxe Dining Plan. Now we can do a 2 TS meal everyday and not just one per trip! - They are so worth it... Our next trip in March my DH and I couldn't decide between Artists Point (new) or California Grill or Narcooses... now we can do all three and not worry! I love it!

We're going back in May, and are doing the new plan. It seems so worth the money. Like a previous poster said you can do a regular sit down and extras like character breakfast etc. Awesome plan.

I like the Deluxe plan, too! There are so many wonderful places that take 2 TS credits.

To get the most out of the Deluxe Plan I would use a snack for breakfast, a late TS breakfast (around 10:30), a snack in the afternoon, and then an early dinner (say 5:30-6:00) at a 2-credit restaurant. popcorn:: Never be hungry!

We just returned from eating at several TS's and each one took AT LEAST 2 hours (and sometimes longer). We did 2 TS's on several days and were so full that we were uncomfortable....and spent a lot of our vacation time dedicated to dining. I'm not sure I could do this everyday!!! Give me the regular DDP....I was full enough with this one!

I was surprised to see some of you applauding Disney on the changes to the dining plan. I was highly dissapointed to see the changes that were made. I know it's just an app. that they took away from the actual "food part of it" but still THEY TOOK IT AWAY....I'm dissapointed about the tip not being included only because of the convience factor. Last year if we felt our server went above and beyond we always left extra on top of the tip that was included with the plan. We never had a problem with slow service, or felt ignored because we were on the plan.
I'm always one to say that Disney makes things better and better but not this time Disney....sorry!
