The Monte Cristo- Cafe Orleans vs Blue Bayou

If you aren't sharing it, the Cafe Orleans version is perfect--- it is the right size for one person and the fries no longer cost extra. The only thing missing is the few grapes and berries that used to be on the plate. If you liked to add fries, you are now paying $21, instead of $29.

If you are used to sharing one Monte Cristo and one order of fries between 2 people, then Cafe Orleans is going to cost you more than it used to as you will want to buy one for each person (the Monte Cristo is now basically half the pre-covid size). The price used to be $21 for the sandwich and $8 for the fries. So now you would have to pay $42 instead of $29.

The size of the current Cafe Orleans Monte Cristo, is definitely equivalent to what you would call a full size sandwich most places. I couldn't even completely finish it. The 4 quarter pre-covid version was way oversized and way too much for one person (well most people anyway!).

Skip both and get the half Monte Cristo at Smokejumpers for $10.99. Add a side of fries or onion rings for $3.99

You are paying an additional $10 for a side of fries at Cafe Orleans and an extra $18.01 for a side of fruit and some anglaise sauce at Blue Bayou, although you get one more quarter sandwich.

It is literally the same sandwich at all 3 places. They are all pre-made in a central kitchen and distributed out to the 3 locations. This is why you can't get it modified. A little birdie told me...

In any given day, the size of the pieces will vary slightly.

Makes sense..... but those fries!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are more than just a regular old side of fries. And it doesn't work if your DD suddenly decides she is a vegetarian and insists on only the cheese version of the Monte Cristo at CO, and your DH thinks they are gross to begin with and just wants Shrimp and Grits. The only problem is that since you can no longer order a side of fries by themself that you have a Shrimp and Grits person that keeps stealing fries from other people's plates.

For awhile they were serving the same fries at Red Rose Tavern. I wish they would bring them back. Although we frequent several restaurants where garlic fries are on the menu so we get our fill of them outside Disneyland.

BB charges $29 for 3/4 of a sandwich? Luckily the one time we tried it we found it kind of gross. I do like Monte Cristo sandwiches, but not battered and deep fried.
