The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

Not to be in a heckling sort of mood tonight, but look at Rosie's delicous spelling of delicious! :lmao: I guess "i"s have no place at all. :rotfl2: And that's what you all get for my getting stuck in an airport for now 3 hours!!

I didn't even notice -- I give her and Dan a lot of grace in the spelling department. But I'm a stickler on my own spelling usually, so I know I brought the whole "wein/wien" thing on myself. (Plus, the mix-up completely changed the meaning of the word! Duh.)

Dang, I had to go back and fix all of the "wienerschnitzel" spellings in that post. I sure was consistent! :rotfl2:

Well, at least you were consistent.... I creatively spelled Magdalena/Magdelene/Magdalene's name differently in every other post I put up. :lmao:

Glenn, I'm finally rejoining the fun but had a laugh at your Austrian Bistro trip.....I had to cheat and look at their website which I saw listed in the middle of the board. I was hoping to see "bosna" listed as that was the only Austrian dish I recall from my post-high school trip to Europe. (As I recall, bosna was a long wiener split in half served in a bread....our chaperones, our high school track coaches, told us it was a must have in Austria and they were right). Here's a photo care of wikipedia for reference. Unfortunately, bosna wasn't offered on the Herwig's Austrian Bistro online menu and I hear it's tough to get the sausage sent from abroad.

But I also wanted to mention that in reading your TR, I realize now why Wendy had cautioned me about starting my Alaskan cruise PTR because you do a great job at replying to everyone's comments and I'm kinda of hoping my PTR stays somewhat "intimate" in size because you have big shoes to fill in.

Loving your TR.....need to go back and read the prior 200 pages since my sub in (sorry:confused3...I'm just getting back into the DIS mode).

I'm a big fan of the Coen Brothers' movies too. "Fargo" was on last night, but my kids were still up, so we couldn't watch it. I flipped to it for a second and it was NOT a good scene. I had to hit the "last channel" button fast! We still like to quote, "If you were missing a car, howouldjaknow?"

Have you ever seen the original "True Grit" with John Wayne?

Sadly, I haven't seen the original. Perhaps I should to have something to compare to. From what the critics say, the Coen Brothers version is better. Jeff Bridges blew John Wayne's performance out of the water apparently.

Fargo is also another good movie. I find it hilarious with the whole "Newfie" accent the woman cop has.

Hey Derek! Good to have you on here again! No, no bosna however I see a "bratwich" in the middle of the board (near "The Dude"), but I bet that would just be the same sausage as James got, but put in a bun.

I've never heard of bosna. When I visited Vienna in '06 I stopped at a wurstlestand and got this:

100_1028.jpg

which didn't have a bun. I would have liked to have tried a few more things, but we were only there a few days and some of the meals were already planned, so we were a little limited. I would have liked to have tried some more items from wurstelstands, real goulash (not just my Mom's interpretation, which is all I know), and visited Cafe Demel downtown. But hey, you do what you can do, right?

Thanks, all I can say is that I learned from the best: your cousin-in-law (and several others on here). I know that it's no fun to post something and seem to be ignored, so yes, I try to be a good host and reply to everyone. It's not hard, but it does require some time.

Thank you! The in-between banter is great, but since you have a lot of catching up to do, do yourself a favor and use the Table of Contents in post #2 to see what we've done on the trip so far, then jump into the banter when you can. :)

I don't think the original was any masterpiece. I bet Jeff Bridges will be great in it....that "dude" is awesome. He he he.

Fargo is also another good movie. I find it hilarious with the whole "Newfie" accent the woman cop has.

It was on another channel last night, so we watched the first half or so. The accents are the best part of that movie...when the woman cop is interviewing the 2 girls it's just a bunch of "yaw, yaw, you betcha, yaw." :rotfl2:

The Dude abides. I love that man. I wish I could be like him. Well.... not exactly but just how he's so chilled about everything. All he wanted was his rug back! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: Or the part when she's like "Oh, I think I'm gonna barf. Oh that passed. Now I'm hungry again" :rotfl2:

Hellooooo to you all Liesa, Glenn, Jen, Rosie and Tracey--Just a quick wish for a happy, healthy, and prosperous NEW YEAR!! I shall return with my Pal Pluto soon! Take care all!!

Lauren said “I’m kind of lost. I’m overwhelmed from this menu!” I told her, “Just order a wienerschnitzel…you can’t go wrong.” So she ordered that, and Sarah ordered a chicken wienerschnitzel.

I'm with Lauren. I get nervous when I see menus like that. I'd need about 15 minutes to figure it out. Good thing there was no one behind you!

What a fun place! The food looks fantastic. Your kiddos are certainly adventurous eaters. Were they like that when they were younger? Well, I guess James still is 'younger' and he seems to be willing to try anything.

I'm getting hungry for some bratwurst, sauerkraut and spicy mustard!

Yeah? Well....you've got a bunch of url-gobbledygook in your signature. ;)

I think you are kind of like him. I mean, anyone who can pick up and fly to Baltimore for the weekend to meet some  people from the internet....they have to be very dude-like. ;)

Yeah, we commented on that too. It seems like she only works on solving the murders about 25% of the time (but always makes progress); the rest of the time she's focused on food. ("Would you happen to know a good place for lunch in the downtown area?")

Hey "Just Jamie"!!! So good to "see" you! Happy New Year to you and say "hi" to Pal Pluto for us.

It was overwhelming! I was glad I had looked at their menu online ahead of time. :)

We've stressed from early-on that they needed to try new things whether it's at home or in restaurants. Somewhere I heard that you need to try a new food like 10 or 15 times before you get used to it and can decide whether you like it or not, so that's been our mantra (regardless of whether it's true or not :rotfl: but I think that it probably is). We also try to go to a few ethnic restaurants (Mexican, Chinese, Indian, Korean, Japanese, etc.), not a lot, but maybe a couple of times a year, which is waaay different than the way both Judy and I grew up. We almost never went out to eat when I was growing up, and when we did it was steak or fish. Both Judy and I didn't branch out until we were adults, but discovered that we had missed out on a lot of neat experiences and flavors. I've been working on stretching my parents (my dad's the issue really) sense of adventure when they visit too. ;)

:rotfl2: Sounds like it might be. We watched some of that too over Christmas weekend.

Looks delicious. All of this talk about food from Austria (as well as any broadcasts of the "Sound of Music" make me itching to re-visit Salzburg again. Among my post-high school European stops, I thought Austria, and specifically Salzburg, was the most beautiful).

Great advice and yeah, Jordan is a Jedi-master :yoda: and I am yet not worthy to his light saber carrier. I'll have to have Wendy call Jordan to give us an updated report.

Good tips, I'll do as you say.

I like Jeff Bridges all except his crazy comment that he deserves a free lifetime pass to Disneyland for his role in two Tron movies (one of which is not doing so hot). I mean, really? Maybe Julie Andrews for all of her Disney roles which have bankrolled the studio but Tron? But I will give him props :thumbsup2 for staying married for so long (which was an odd transition in this article)

Happy New Year Derek !!! Say Hi to Wendy and your beautiful kids !!! I posted a POTTY section on my TR in Honor of Jordan!!!:lmao:

Thought it was fitting that I caught up on your trip report while watching the Penn St-Florida game. Hope PSU wins and that you keep the updates coming.

We never made it to Salzburg...just Vienna. It looks beautiful though.

Oh, I'm sure that you'll do just fine. I'm looking forward to an update on Jordy.

I'd never heard that he said that; that is a little audacious. The original Tron movie kinda tanked too, as I recall. I was in high school and went to see it when it was in the theaters...there were about four of us in the whole place.

I forgot that you're close enough to actually attend that. That must be neat to see in person.

Leave it to Liessa to spot all my goofs !!:lmao:

It's a feeding frenzy when there's blood in the water.

The potty pics were very Jordan-esque.

Thanks for reading today and for your well-wishes on the game. :goodvibes I guess I should've been working on an update rather than watching the game. Boy, that was a poor showing by both teams -- we just ended up being a little worse. The Big Ten got pummeled today.

Happy New Year to you and your family, Glen.

Oh thanks Kathy! Happy New Year to everyone in the KatMark household as well. :)

I'm new to the board here and just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your reports. Now I can at least look forward to someone else's Disney trips in addition to our sporadic ones. Keep up the good work and Happy New Year!

p.s. Sorry about Penn State. I'm in Illini country so I'm feeling the Big Ten hit a little bit too. (Although we didn't deserve to be in a bowl in the first place.)
