In 2002 my wife and I went to WDW. We stayed at the Dolphin, and had a great time. We went early in our stay to MGM and played the WWTBAM. I tried hard, but alas never made it into the hot seat.
The day we left for the airport we had time to go by mgm in the morning and so we had such a good time the first time, we decided to try WWTBAM again, and this time I Made it in the HOT SEAT!

I was totally pumped, during this time the million point winner won a trip to New York to meet Regis, and other things. So I'm in the seat and things are going great, I got all the way to the million point question. Here it is:

What did George Featherstone invent?
A. the pet rock B. Rollerblades
B. the yo-yo C. The lawn flamingo

I had no clue, so I guesed B, and got it wrong.
the correct answer, and something I will remember until my dying day is C.

George Featherstone invented the lawn flamingo. Who knew!
So close yet so far.

So for those of you who have made it to the hot seat, if you lost at any level, what was the question you missed, but for you very wise, or at least very lucky people that won the whole thing, what was your million point question?

pluto:

I feel your pain brother. lol. I wish I could say I made it all the way to the Million Dollar question but, alas, I bombed on the $2000 question. I am the trivia queen, but let's just say they don't call it the "hot seat" for nothing. This game is definately easier yelling at your TV in the privacy of your home.

My question was.........What does the "P" in ZPG stand for?

a)personal b)program
c)population c)per

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?.........the answer was c. It is obvious now, and I will never forget that nugget of information.

Mine was a state quarter question...on which state quarter is the Old Man on the Mountain depicted?

Delaware
South Carolina
Vermont
New Hampshire

aaaahhhh, NH......never forget.......

Mine was the 500,000 point question at WWtBAM at DCA. It was "Who was the first Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court?" The answer choices were John Jay and three other guys...at first I thought it was Jay, but I second guessed myself, thinking "Naw, he was the first secretary of state.." So of course I guessed one of the other names, but it was good old JJ. As you said, I will NEVER forget it now! But it was still great fun, and I still have the hat, polo, lanyard, and pins. The most fun was when people recognized me in the park all throughout that day!

200 point question:
What does Kelvins measure?
A: Temp

I felt like an idiot but, there was a guy in the hotseat in an earlier game that day that missed the 100 point question.

I was really surprised at how much I freaked with that many people watching me and with cameras and microphones every where! AGHHHH!!

DH got to the hot seat on one of his trips to Disney (before he met me) he got to the $16000 level and lost, his question was: "What is the origin of Strawberry Shortcake?"

A. Cartoon
B. Greeting Card
C. Storybook
D. he doesn't remember the last one...

The answer: GREETING CARD......I would never have guessed that!!!!

DH was also the first person from our state to get into the hot seat!

they had small awards that you would get with every answer question right, so I got the pins, polo shirt, hat, and so forth,

And it Was Totally cool afterward when everyone would recognize me.

Mine was for the 250,000 pt question...

"Who said...If you haven't got anything nice to say, come sit by me"?

I thought for sure it was Dorothy Parker :(

The answer was Alice Roosevelt.
I also will remember that forever!

Mine was the 64,000 point question: How many Crayola crayons are in the largest box? I *KNEW* it had to be a multiple of 8, since I had had as a kid boxes of 8, 16, 24, 48, and 64, so I guessed 128. It was 120. Got the hat and pins and lanyard tho...

Mine was the 32,000 point question, which was a plateau, so of course when I blew it, I dropped back to 1,000. I got a hat, a lanyard and 5 pins (100, 200, 300, 500, 1,000.)

The question was, what is Dr. Phil's last name?

This was 2 1/2 years ago, when he wasn't a household name yet.
The answer, of course, is McGraw.

I was so cool and calm until then. I made the mistake of using the 50/50 instead of asking the audience. Then, I just guessed rather than waste a lifeline! GGGRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!
I'll do better next time. :thumbsup2

What toy was th first advertised on national tv? hula hoop slinky, mr. potatohead,barbie..(this was a 125000 I think)---

What dance craze swept the nation after the charleston? I had it narrowed by 50/50 to jitterbug and lindy I don't recall the other choices ( 64000 points?)

What restaurant opened the first drive thru in Beijing (McDonalds, Taco Bell, Wendy's KFC) (8000 pts)

on 3 trips to the hot seat these are the questions that sunk me....the first one I asked a stranger and used 50/50 and still got it wrong ---it was Mr Potatohead

the second one I used phone a stranger--we got it wrong--it was the lindy.

The third time I asked the audience -89% of whom chose the same wrong answer i went for--McD--the correct answer was KFC.

I got in the hot seat before I became a CM. I missed the 250,000 point question. What is the oldest public university in Canada? The answer was the University of New Brunswick (I think, this was a couple of years ago). I still have the hat and the polo shirt though. Being in the hot seat didn't really bother me that much. When I first got down there I was kind of nervous, but once I started answering questions I forgot about all the people in there.

My million point question:

1,000,000 - The island of Capri is part of what region of Italy?

A. Campania
B. Busilicata
C. Molise
D. Calabria

DD's million point question (unfortunately I don't recall all the choices)

1,000,000 - An "immelmann manuever" can best be described as which of the following?

A. something
B. something
C. Chess move
D. Aerial acrobatics

S

P

O

I

L

E

R

S

P

A

C

E

A. Campania
D. Aerial acrobatics

Check my signature if you want to know whether we got these right or wrong.

My 32,000 plateau question was: What is made in a millinery?

a. hats b. blankets c. cereal d. beer

I thought it was cereal or beer so I used the 50/50. It took away both of those options. I used the phone a stranger. They said something about a millinery is used for sewing but then they got cut off. I figured it would be sewing blankets. Nope, it was hats. I'll never forget.

The highest point question I ever missed was about handbags. They wanted to know what company made such-and-such handbag. I had no idea and randomly guessed D) (whatever it was). The right answer was A) Hermes.

My 1st time in the hot seat I lost on the 32,000 point question, which was "If you do something 'ex tempore', you have done it how?" I correctly guessed it had something to do with time but went with C) From the Beginning....the right answer was of course B) Spontaneously. What really makes this sting is that the next week in my speech class, my professor told us "OK, we are going to practice giving extemporaneous speeches...meaning you have to give them spontaneously, without preparation." D'oh. If only she would have went over that one week earlier....

Another time I went out was on a question about the song Mr. Bojangles. The question was MUCH too hard for a 16,000 point question, if I do say so myself. How was I supposed to know what he did after he "jumped so high"? I've never even heard of the song.

I would have guessed "B" as well seeing how you had a 2 out of 4 chance of getting it right. ;)

I missed on the 500,000 point question. I still had my 50/50 and narrowed it to 2 answers, but guessed wrong. it was about regions of Italy - something about the central part of Italy? Choices were Calabria and Abruzzo. I guessed Calabria and it was wrong. Bummer.

I missed once before on a state quarter question - the answer was the quarter from my state, PA! That was embarrassing. It must have been for 64,000 points, because I got a shirt out of it anyway.

I can't even remember the other question i missed on. Too long ago.

I'm guessing your question was about either a Birkin or Kelly bag? I would have greatly preferred that one to my James Bond question.

Although, truly, the hardest question that I've been asked at the Play It! set that I am still kicking myself for not having the correct answer is, "Do you have your Social Security card on you?" :rotfl2: (I tried out for Walk In and Win this year for the actual show and had, um, a bit of a paperwork mishap...)

I've been in the hot seat three times, and I don't remember all three questions, but I'll always remember the first...

Which Supreme Court Case Ruled Segregation in Schools Illegal?

I don't remember all 4 choices, but I immediately knew it was "Brown Vs. Topeka Board of Education." I remembered it from history. I knew it before the choice even came up.

Then, I noticed the Scopes Trial in the list. I knew that I knew it for some reason, but I wasn't sure what (the teacher who was fired for teaching evolution, I believe). That darn self doubt came in, and I went with that, even though before the darn choices came up I knew it was Brown Vs. Topeka.

The lights and the people do affect you. I was so nervous I made myself forget what I was thinking. 64,000 points...I was really confident, but I choked, just like in the 6th grade spelling bee :thumbsup2

At least I have my polo shirt :thumbsup2
