Do you have to run the mile in gym?
Do you run on tredmills or on flat ground?
What's your best time, or average time, or any time in general?

We used to in Jr. High, luckily we don't anymore.
We ran it on our track. 4 times equal a mile.
My best time was...I posted it on another thread but I don't remember exactly. Like 13:40 or something, but I actually think it was 12:50.
I was so dizzy afterwards every time, I'm not in the greatest shape.

We have like four testing days.
One day is beep test.
Another is 15 minute run.
Fitness test (it's like random exercises)
And a flexibility test.

We have a few days of fittness testing in the fall and spring.

First day is the Mile run
Day two is the shuttle run and sit ups test
Day three is Pull Ups

we used to run it, but I run it for fun on my treadmil or around the track sometimes.

My best time is 8:39.28

We don't do the mile.
We've done this thing called the pacer since middle school, though.
You have to run from one side of the gym to the other before the CD beeps. Sounds easy, but after 50 laps, consecutively getting faster, it gets pretty hard.
I think the best I did was 60 or so?

But we run three miles for lacrosse a lot, in around 15 or 20 minutes.

im done with gym now, but when i had it i had to run the mile three times in one semester, and it was on the track around the football field.

Yeppers.
Flat ground, on the track.
6:54 :)

we run every week on the track around the foot ball field...

My best time was 9:45...i really pushed myself...

Average is 10:30 but due to allergies and asthma lately its been pretty bad

We always run it on the ground.
I make pretty good time.

Average Running: 7:32
Average Walking: 9:14

(It's ironic 'cause we ran the mile this morning)

i am now taking a moment to rejoice in the the fact that i will never have to take another public school physical fitness/education class for the rest of my natural life.

We do the mile every two weeks in Junior high.
Running 4 laps in a huge rectangle
I can't run at all. I can probably do around 11 minutes (which is very terrible at my school) =/

We have to do it in the Spring. We run on a track, 4 laps around the track is a mile. My best is prob like 10 minutes. I can't run at all.

Thank God we don't have to run the mile!
It makes me happy that our school doesn't do that. :)

Wow.
Youre exactly like me.
I am TERRIBLE at the mile, and from my looks it looks like I should be able to run, but I am just not built that way :confused3

Same!
4 times around a track (loks like a race car track) equals 1 mile.

I just feel the need to point out that 4 laps on any standard outdoor track is a mile. It is exactly 5,280 feet on any track. All tracks are the same size. They are all 400 meters (1/4 mile) per lap. 1 mile=1600 meters. There are 3.3 feet to a meter.

The only time the distance changes is on an indoor track. They run at about 160m per lap making the mile 10 laps instead of 4. They are roughly 1/4 the size of an outdoor track.

Ok. I'm done being a track nerd.

But in running news!: I ran a 35.35 second 200meter (1/2 lap) today! And a 15.6 second split in the throwers 4x100m relay!

We had to run it in 7th grade gym. Four times around the track equals a mile. I hated it. I hate running. It's hard to breathe!!!

We also had to run the track in high school gym but it wasn't usually timed. I cheated by only running past the teachers most of the time.
