I got a book for Christmas one year that I really wanted, 8 Weeks to Optimum Health by Dr. Weil (he's on PBS once in a while, kind of a jolly looking fellow with a bushy white beard). I tried to incorporate the suggestions in the book into my way of eating and was fairy successful for several weeks, but I wasn't doing any type of portion control. Basically I got very healthy and didn't lose any weight (but I wasn't trying to lose weight, just wanted to purify my body). I enjoyed all the whole grain foods, organic foods, salmon, veggie based meals, etc. I think once I reach my goal (following the WW program) I will try to incorporate more of the foods into my meals that are suggested in his book. He stresses a Mediterranean based way of eating too.
