Disney Vacation Club Member Services now has Disneyland Paris open for reservations around the Med Cruise dates.

This morning, I was able to book into the Hotel New York checking in July 7.

OK Cruisemate

How many Nights?

How Many points?

Can we use DVC to make Cash ressies & do we get any type of discount?

As always your advice is without value (Priceless!)

I booked two nights at the New York for 127 points.

Here's the point chart (first figure Sun-Thurs; second Fri-Sat)
These are the points for when WE check in. They could be different for other dates.
Disneyland Hotel 81 & 97
New York 59 & 68
Newport Bay Club 54 & 61
Sequoia Lodge 50 & 57

Don't know about the DVC making cash ressies or discounts.

Thank you BigBlueMan for the DVC notice -- I just called Member Services and booked 3 nights at the Sequoia Lodge for 171 pts. We are going to DLP for 3 days before our June 16th Med Cruise. Reminder, your DVC reservation includes length of stay tickets to the park for everyone in the room and free breakfast including breakfast at a restaurant in the park one hour prior to park opening.

Is anyone else traveling with a toddler out there? Our son will turn two on the cruise... HOW FUN!

Did you get letter from Disney with excursion timeline. Excursions should be on website in December. Planning should really begin then.

I have been Sequoia Lodge about 5 years ago and it was lovely hotel and I think it was better than another. Two years ago, last mins booking I took my children to Newport Hotel and wish stay at Sequoia Lodge because it is more comfortable and nice.

Not far to Disneyland and studio which was great. Just walking back of hotel, beautiful lakes and see lots of things there.

Thank you Scottishwee35 for the feedback. After reading so much information on the Disboards for DLP, I was caught off guard when I heard the news that we could make reservations. The Disneyland hotel was too many points per night (90+), I grew up in New York so no need to revisit, and my choice was between Newport and Sequoia. Thank you for re-assuring me.

This thread is full of so much good information! Have not read the whole thing yet, but it is giving me some direction to head in for seeking hotel rooms, etc.

Anyone think plane fares may hit below $1,000 (from Chicago)? Hoping hoping... We have frequent flier miles, but they were all earned on domestic flights so I assume they cannot be used for the international flights?

Much I need to check up on...

I don't think most airlines care where you got your miles, so you should be able to use them. As for the airfares, I'm thinking they WILL be below a thousand, particularly from a place like Chicago.

What's your sail date?

We are booked on the 10 night July 18 sailing so we have a bit of time to watch the fares at least.

Think I need to call the airlines to check our frequent flyer miles and what they may get us. At this point I believe I have enough for a United Super Saver flight, but domestic. My husband has lots more than myself saved up.

We used United frequent flyer miles for our flight (Los Angeles to Heathrow). We had to use the Saver 50,000 miles rather than the Standard 100,000 miles, and the only thing available was Heathrow. It would have "cost" too much to fly to Charles de Gaulle. (Used DH's miles for the three of us.)

We booked on the United website. It cost about $250 for taxes and fees. There is a table of Awards showing how many miles are needed to fly between the various continents for both Saver and Standard awards. Send me a PM if you have any other questions. :thumbsup2

Thanx for the info!! I will check this out tonite at home and see what I come up with. Anything to help with the air costs for 4 yikes...

I bought airfare for 6 a few weeks back. We are going to drive/train to JFK in NY and take Air Plus Comet to BCN. The flights are only Mondays and Fridays. I got the tickets for just over $500 round trip. I just looked and the same tickets are now $716 on Travelocity. Not sure if anyone is as nutty as I am to go to NY to fly out. The cheapest I could find out of Dulles VA was $1,100. That saved me $3,000. Only 255 more days till we leave!

Can anyone comment on pick-pockets? How bad are they? How can you avoid them? I was talking to a friend today who spent 5 weeks in Rome last summer and she said they were unbelievable. I am starting to get worried.

Everything I've read, both on the internet and in travel guides, says that pickpockets ARE a big problem. Naples is supposed to be the absolute worst place.

I think we'd all be smart to buy/use one of those "pouches" that go around your neck and under your clothing for money and important items while touring the cities.

In some of the travel catalogs (like TravelSmith and Magellen's) they have purses and camera straps that actually have wire in the straps. I guess some of the pickpockets just take a razor blade or knife and slash straps. I've also heard of them slicing the bottoms off women's purses.

So, I think we should be extremely careful. I plan on using a "pouch" for money and will carry nothing but lipstick, tissues (Lots of tissues since TP is reported to be in short supply!) and maybe a bottle of water ...nothing important at all.

For sure prices are going up on flights. I just priced flights from Miami and most of them are now just a shade over $1400. I paid $778 through Travelocity for Delta/Air France back in July,

I am going to look into getting one of those pouches, I think they are maybe called money belts? Not sure where I would find one of those. I worry about my camera because I know I will want to have it to take tons of picutures. The straps with wires in them are an interesting concept. I think I am just going to be paranoid the whole time we are there! :rotfl:

Would seriously recommend anyone who hs not yet booked flights to do so as we know from Experience you need to book as soon as they appear on the screen as once those cheap seats have gone the prices rise dramatically. When we are coming over to US we book around the 11 month window to get the best prices.
