OK so it was time to head over to check in at the tour. When you check in they have name tags with your name on it, and they give you a little lanyard you have to wear that say "Guest" I think.
When I was checking in, I had another diser come up to me LOL. I told her to say hi to me if she saw me on one of the tour threads. She was so sweet. It was her anniversary that day! We were talking and one of the CMs over heard us mention the boards. She said that her brother does the podcasts, but I forget his name.
Look at how cute their costumes are. So cute.
They offer you coffee or water in the morning. We grabbed two waters. That was nice.
We were so excited!
We waited outside for our guide for like two minutes. When he came out, he handed us our headsets. Here is Tim all set and ready to go.
Our guide was Fred. I loved him so much. He reminded me of my Pop Pop. Fred had us all stand in a circle and introduce ourselves. He had us say our name and where we are from.
Our first stop was in front of the statue of Minnie, and who I thought was Walt LOL.
Yeah well it's not Walt. It's his brother ROY!! DUHHHH!! LOL. I said to Ti, "OMG I thought that was Walt!" Tim just shock his head at me. Wait till you guys hear about my other ditzy blonde moment on Spaceship Earth. It's a classic. lol. Fred told us a little about Roy, then we moved on.
We went down one of the little alleys on Main ST, I forget the name of the st. Anyway you can go and sit back there, and when you do you can hear
the music and dance lessons going on. It's so cute.
If you look at the one window, you can see that it is open a little. That is why you can hear the classes.
Fred was then telling us how the buildings look taller than they really are. As the stories go up, they make the windows smaller. It's all an illusion.
We then continued to walk down Main St, where he told us about the names on the windows. All the people on there are named after people in Walt's family. I don't remember all the details though.
Here is a window that Walt had put up for his father, Elias.
Since I don't remember word for word, I went to wikepedia to get the info on Walt's father. This is the same info that Fred told us.
"Elias worked on his father's new farm until 1884, when he left to find another job. He was hired in a railroad machine shop (one of his co-workers was Walter Chrysler), then he joined the railroad crew building the Union Pacific line through Colorado. After the railroad contract was over, he became a professional fiddle player in Denver. Again he was unsuccessful, and he returned to his father's farm. He also worked for a short time as a mailman in Kissimmee, Florida, close to the eventual site of Walt Disney World."
Next window was a tribute to Walt's brother, Roy.
Roy was also a sailor, so that is why he has a sailboat on his window.
Next was Ron and Diane Miller's window.
Diane was Walt's daughter. She is the only biological daughter of Walt and Lillian.
All the partners names on the window, are Ron and Diane's children.
And here is Walt's window
After that we were heading to Frontierland. Oh and you know the board at the end of main st where you can see the waits for the rides. Well somebody manually does that. They can't use modern technology because that would take the old times feeling away lol.
Before going to frontierland, Fred talked about the castle.
He asked us how many bricks the castle was made of. None. I forget what exactly it is made from. I learned about that while watching one of the shows on Travel Channel.
Fred told us how Walt wanted the castle to draw you in, and he called it something. He had a nick name for it. Ahh I forget. He said the castle reminded him of when you would wave a bone in front of a dog. Something like that.
