I like the idea of The Marrakesh restaurant, as I think the theme sounds fun for my kids. What do you think? Is it worth it? The only time I can fit it in my schedule would be our last day at lunch, and I'd really rather have that time "open". Is it worth doing, or is it just a lot of hype about nothing?

The food was good, but not any better than the QS place in Morocco. So, no, you wouldn't be missing much by skipping it (and going to the QS place there instead, I forget the name of it offhand).

Though, I should say the belly dancer was good, but I wouldn't go there just for that.

Also, Marakesh was the ONLY WDW restaurant that was not very accommodating to my DD's allergies. (But the QS place was, when we went there). So, we will not be going to Marakesh again.

It's beautiful, and the food was very good, much better than Tangierine Cafe. The belly dancer was lovely. I'd say it's on the level with, I don't know, maybe Spaceship Earth? Nice, fun, glad to have done it, won't ruin your vacation to miss it.

I was so excited to try this restaurant!
On our first day while passing by Morroco pavilion, we were welcomed by a lovely Moroccan young lady who rinsed our hands with rose water and charmingly promoted RM.
I had visions of a welcoming oasis of North African culture in the middle of a hot sweltering day. We had ressies for our 6th day. I couldn't wait!!

Day 6 arrived and we were 10 minutes early for our 1 pm ressie- we were not warmly welcomed but were seated immediately and the restaurant seemed only 1/4 full.

:confused3What can I say- we waited over 5 minutes after being seated and were about to leave before anyone even came over to our table.
It felt like our very presence was an inconvenience :sad2: to the restaurant staff.
I've never before had an experience like this in a restaurant and now wished we had just left...

The jasmina salad was pretty much plain iceberg lettuce, the sampler platter was not very good. We are extremely adventurous eaters and were rather disappointed. We are going to try Tangierine Cafe next trip, and I hear that is better food than RM...
The dancing was not worth having to eat the food.
I'd hate for that to be my last dining memory of WDW... :rolleyes1

Others have had good experiences, so you'll just have to decide for yourself...
But I can think of other TS restaurants that have good themes to enjoy:
Biergarten, Teppan Edo, Akershus, any of which have good food in addition to a "show".:thumbsup2

I'm really sad that the Marrakesh restaurant doesn't live up to the hype :sad2:

I've been to Morocco, and stayed with a Berber family, and eaten real traditional Moroccoan food in the middle of the Sahara desert, so I've been bugging my family to let us eat there there one day, so I can relive my adventure!

But I'm not sure I want to now :sad1: Maybe I'll just buy lots of souvenirs (sp?) to make up for it!

Unfortunately, Marrakesh is another in a long line of Disney restaurants that has fallen to the "standardization" of menus and "flavors" used at WDW.

It used to be quite authentic, in terms of service and food selections. Now, it's simply American food with a Moroccan flair, nothing genuine, or truly authentic, other than perhaps the mint tea.

The cafe is no better, worse in some ways (don't bother ordering the olives... ).

We actually enjoyed this place very much.Granted the food was dumbed down a bit ( not as spicy) but overall quite enjoyable. The entertainment was nice too

We are in the wouldn't do it again camp. DH and I both thought the food was pretty bland (we had expected spicier). Other adults in our party did like it though. The younger kids enjoyed watching the belly dancer.

We're not sorry we tried it, but wouldn't go back - too many other restaurants we haven't tried yet and tons of favorites that keep calling us back!

We really enjoyed the food but our waiter was not very friendly. But, I wouldn't discard any restaurant....you should try it for yourself. Just because my experience wasn't Fantastic, it doesn't mean that it won't be for you. I have read a lot of negative feedback on San Angel Inn at the Mexico pavilion, but we have had nothing but positive dinners there.

Same here.

Marrakesh was the only part of our last trip that I wish I could completely erase. It was HORRIBLE!!
We went for lunch, and the place was pretty much empty. The waiters were rude and really made us feel very unwelcome. The belly dancer sat in a chair the whole time, and didn't dance at all.
Three out of four of our orders were wrong, and the waiter was clearly annoyed when we pointed this out.
This place does not even come close to living up to Disney standards. I would suggest going ANYWHERE but here.

We are true Marrakesh fans. I find the restaurant to be beautiful, the service has been warm and friendly and the food good. I agree it has been "dumbed down" since our first experience, but it was still good. The couple with us felt it was their best meal in WDW.
I, on the other hand, did not like Biergarten at all. We waited over an hour to be seated in a 1/2 empty restaurant, the entertainment was very short and the food was not good.
It all depends on your personal taste. I would say try it

Yes, the atmosphere is pretty, and the belly dancer is a really fun aspect as well. BUT, it's terribly loud in there first of all, and secondly, the food is absolutely nothing like Moroccan food. In fact, you're better off going to the quick service location to get better quality food.

I am vegan and do not eat any meat. I know the majority of the menu is meat items, but my husband's beef wasn't tasty either. The veggie couscous literally tasted like...nothing. We were on the deluxe dining plan, and I could hardly eat anything they brought me, which was limited more than any other restaurant we ate at in our 7 days in Disney World. I found out they didn't accomodate my dietary needs more (lactose allergy) because they are not technically Disney owned, nor are any of the other Epcot restaurants. Saying that though, Japan, the UK and FRANCE (the land of butter and cheese), made amazing meals for me this trip. We will not be returning to Morocco because it was no where near what authentic Moroccan food actually is.

We went to Marrakesh last September. I recall being somewhat disappointed in it. I think we had to sit and wait a long time for the servers, my food didn't live up to the hype, it was noisy, etc.

HOWEVER, my DH liked it and wanted to go back. So, this September, I have booked Marrakesh for our first night and I plan to order the dish my DH had and see if I enjoy it better than what I got last year.

I would agree with others that if you want to try it, then go. Many of the restaurants that I read mixed reviews about, I end of liking.

If you enjoy mediocre food and do not want the female parties in your group acknowledged in any way, by all means dine there. This was, hands down, the most awful and obnoxious meal we've ever eaten at WDW. Their servers take surliness to a whole new level. :headache:

Eat at the QS in Morocco.
The Marrakesh was not in any way authentic. It was also pricey - even by Disney standards. The service was poor. The belly dancer was interesting, but unless you are seated "ring side" your children will probably not be able to see her all that well.
I had very good lamb there, but it was not any better than the lamb I had at the Wave, nor was it spiced in any distinctive Moroccan way.
It was not a very memorable meal, and there are MUCH better places to eat at Epcot.

Last June my mother and I ate at RM because she had remembered she ate at one of the Moroccan restaurants on a prior trip and enjoyed it. I thought the decor and entertainment was nice, but was not thrilled with the food, and there were very few dessert options. She noted that she thinks she ate at the QS in Morocco last time and the food was much better there.
