The Marching Band Road Warriors are finally home ....

Our oldest Ds is in the 7th grade and plays the trumpet. He was asked to join the high school marching band. We did not know how much travelling this would take. Thank God his high school is not a National Class Band, because those bands travel all across the Northeast and Midwest. Anyway.. In the past two weeks their band has appeared in no less than 5 competitions. plus playing at halftime shows at the football games. We live about 25 miles north of New York City. last weekend it was Albany, NY on Sat. and South Jersey on Sunday, then this past weekend it was Univ. of Conneticut on Sat. afternoon , followed by another competition at night in the about 60 miles from us. Today it was another meet in the Hudson Valley and tomorrow they march in the Columbus Day Parade up 5th Ave. in New York. Plus he has to practice 2.5 hours 4 nights a week , plus he is in boy scouts, and still trains in karate and he is a Black Belt. He still gets good grades in honors. I told him that this is enough activities for now. But noooo he says he wants to play in a travel baseball team in the spring.. We say right..lol. plus we have a 8 yo to who also has the same activities minus the music. We must be nuts....lol

Pl-e-a-s-e don't ever make him give up band! He'll make friends he'll have forever! And memories forever! DS#2 plays trumpet. Now he's in college to be a music performer, but he's coming home this weekend to cheer on his high school marching band in their annual pigskin jubile competion (don't know-do theyhave pigskin up there?) He's joining with a large number of the Marching Band alumni and he's really looking forward to it. The memories!
