You all remember Im sure how my little Spike went missing last boxing day and how he was safe back with me 8 days later after some kind lady took him to London with her.....well we have had another little adventure.

We had an attempted break in at the house last night, and it appears Spike may have disturbed them as they were trying to break in through the kitchen door. The wood frame had been part broken by the lock. They fled, however they had completly smashed through the lane door, kicking off the lock and two bolts, so as they fled, my Spike must have followed them. I knew nothing of this until this morning when I woke up to go and feed him and couldnt find him, only to see the lane door almost off its hinges.:sad2: I phoned the Police who came round straight away, and once more was in touch with the local dog kennels to see if anybody had handed him in. I stayed with the police whilst Vicki spent 4 hours looking around the streets again.

We had a feeling that this time our luck may have run out, as we thought it impossible that he would turn up again somewhere. My very kind neighbour has reinforced the lane door and put on new bolts as a temp measure but it will have to be replaced.

After many many tears for Spike and out of shock that we may have been robbed whist we slept, at 4pm this afternoon, we had a call from the dog warden telling us to go to a Dog Kennel about 3 miles away as a Yorkie had been handed in, very early this morning. We got there almost not believing that Spike could still be ok, and there he was,.  his collar and name tag that we put on after the last time he dissapeared, was missing:confused3 He has a little bump on his face, where the dog carers believe he may have taken a small kick from the burglers, but he has been checked out at the vets and given the all clear.

Vicki and I were going to go tonight, but we dont feel like leaving the house right now, well not until the door is replaced properly....and as for Spike...he is now chipped, (they kindly did this for us as the kennels), has a nice juicy bone and none the worse for his and our scare.
