:guilty: I am one of those who stayed with relatives (my parents) but when you can go to WDW every year and they get youin for free you takie what you can get:thumbsup2 LAst year we stayed onsite as a family for the 1st time and LOVED it, but we did the same as you - 5 days at POP and then 5 days at my parents. This year we are going all out and staying the whole 10 days at POP:banana:

LTP - I can't wait to hear about DC. I was a HUGE Shaun Cassidy:love: fan in my day, David was a close second

There's no place like Disney

There's no place like Disney

There's no place like Disney

There's no place like Disney

Darn still here at the office

Ohhh.... so that's your sensitive side!! ;)

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

That's one point for Kathy :thumbsup2

Side Note: Does the DIS seem slower to anyone else since the sig changes??
Just think of all those signatures that are changing, it will speed up again, gotta have patience.

I must say I must be the lucky minority to actually have liked the off site places I've stayed (Orange Lake, Summer Bay and Bonnett Creek to name a few)...my reasons? I get 7 days for the price of 3 or 4, we go off season so the parks close early anyway, we get a kitchen and a publix nearby so I usually get homemade breakfasts and dinners, the price of the rental is a trade off for the homemade meals, as I said, the places we stay are actually clean and nice, and lastly---to get my touch of Mickey, I bring my own shampoos and soaps from the last time I *did* stay onsite ;)

and for the record. I have stayed onsite-AKL, GF, CSR, ASMovies and Shades of Green. The gastronomic consequense of having to eat every meal out makes it worthy for my family to stay where we stay. As long as my friend owns at the above listed places there is also no reason for me to invest in the short term contract of a DVC just yet.

I'm loving your trip reports as usual MDF...

I tend to lurk a bit and just felt the need to share~

LYMI!

Okay, here's the thing. When I go on vacation, I'm on vacation too. That means NO COOKING, even breakfast! :thumbsup2 So that benefit of the off-site condos doesn't apply! We never rent a car, so save there. I love Pop, and so does my family, so no sacrifice to stay in a value. (I like it better than the moderates, so there!)
Disney World, means DISNEY, all the way - toiletries, toilet paper, towel animals, Disney transportation, and all. When my DGS was 3, his favorite thing was the transportation - we rode busses, monorail, boats, trains - what more could a little boy ask? :cloud9:
When we go to the beach, a condo is great, but we spend a lot of the time there. Even when we go back to the resort for a break from WDW, we are in the pool, at the splash pad, in the food court, or doing other fun stuff. In the room we are just sleeping or watching Disney specials on TV. (Does anyone else's younger set memorize the "Top Ten Things to do at Disney"?) I can't imagine what would make me stay off-site! :cheer2:

I have one more out there....

Hubby does all the cooking!

Seriously.

I get to wait in the pool

(the summer bay house comes with a private one)

or the hot tub til the food is ready~

I do clean up tho...

but having the dishwasher makes that a breeze.

Trust me tho, if it weren't for my guys and their bad stummys and technically free (to me) accomodations, I'd stay on property quicker than a heart beats~

I just read this TR from the start....my DH just came looking for me as I am usually snoring by this time of night! (9:50pm here). But it was a most entertaining evening and I thank you!:) Can't wait for the day by day!

I've never stayed off-site and have no plans to do so. Ever. To me, the WDW resorts are as much a part of the vacation as the parks. I know staying off-site would enable us to go to Disney more often, but it wouldn't be the same vacation. I'd feel as if I were leaving the magic if I had to drive to an off site hotel at the end of every park day. I need that Mickey wake up call, Mickey waffles for breakfast and Mickey soap. Honestly, if I had a choice between a five-star hotel off site or a parking lot view at a WDW value resort, I wouldn't even consider the five star.

OK, enough about my obsession with on-site hotels. I can't wait to hear what the IASW water tastes like.

Next Up: On a dare, I drink the Small World river water.
:scared1:

Buzz,

I'm really enjoying your and Linnie's TR. :goodvibes You had me with the 13 stretchy shorts and the Fry Daddy. I'm waiting impatiently now to see if you mutate after drinking the IASW's river water. ;)

I'm so in agreement with you on the offsite thing.
Two of my friends think WDW is crap compared to DL. Gee, do you think staying in Kissemmee in a dive and going in July might have anything to do with that judgement?
I'm trying to get the women to go to F&W with me and stay at BCV's. No way, don't want to. I need new friends.
I stayed 2 nights at Cypress Point when we took 4 (yes 4) of my nieces and my two kids. Got excited reading about it on the offsite thread. Totally disappointed with it. Will never do that again. Staying at the Hyatt at the airport for first day and last night is the way to go if you want to save points.
I'm dead tired when I arrive trying to adjust to the time change and lack of sleep from not sleeping the night before. We also always take a really early flight on our return home, so rolling out of bed and taking the elevator straight to security is perfect. You've already dumped the car the night before also.
So stress free. You might try that next time.
But really, buying more points would be the best bet. Two weeks, you'll really, really be ready to go home next year....

I'll respond to everyone shortly. Sorry, I'm on my "Vacation from Vacation" in Phoenix with golfin buddies. :smokin:

Shot an 87 today. Cost me big time! :sad2:

Ok, I just got on to tell you all about my brilliant idea.

Dip the "Stretchy Shorts" in the Fry Daddy.

I'm a freakin genius!!!

Lin!!! Warm up the fry daddy baby. I'll be home in 72 hours!! :woohoo:

I've been looking for a weekend project. ::yes::

:sad2: Uh, no Buzz. They're no longer stretchy shorts-they are SMELLY shorts!!! Euuuuwww.....:scared:

And there's no way those suckers are going in my Fry Daddy. I don't want to ruin it.

DO IT!!!! And then post those pics.

C'mon Linnie, he'll buy you a new Fry Daddy for Christmas if he ruins this one. Heh heh.

I have a saying: If it’s good, it’s probably better with a Fry Daddy “Dip”.
And that's why you could be my best friend. Dude, I thought I was food crazy. You make me look like a vegan. NOVegans. I haven't tried the deep fried pop tart. But that's only b/c I like to slather it in butter.

unruly, loud, and cantankerous
Those three words all mean the same thing.

I'm only about 2/3 the way through this but I'm laughing my "fat American" butt off.

So the Turkmenistanis are fattys? Good to know. One more country to mark off my "must see" list.

:moped:

Linnie, please for the safety of yourself and your family, get RID of that Fry Daddy before he gets home :rotfl2:.

Brilliant strategy, my friend!

Get an outlandish idea and then post it on your trip report for all the DIS to see. Now it's on the record.

(You know you sure aren't going to remember it tomorrow with the hangover you're gonna have.)
