Why do we all take such great satisfaction in knowing we're the first to reply to the latest trippy?
Sadly, I'm no different.

Must be a DIS thing.

Buzz - although I'm still considered a rookie, I totally agree with you. Even if you can't afford a two-bedroom suite, I'd much rather stay at a Value than any hotel outside of WDW.
Rook or no rook. You're doing it properly. Well done girl!

I just love your chapter titles!
I'm especially proud of my
Next Up titles.
LtP keeps asking me, "Why do you have these non-existant Next Up titles"?
Sadly, I could give her no answer.

We have also stayed at some doozeys. Never again. 2 years ago I bought some points on Ebay for a studio at Old Key West. LOVED it! Heck the use of the microwave, free parking and less gas saved us a ton. Plus, we were at Disney.
After renting the studio at OKW 10 years ago, we knew we had to become DVC members so we just started saving. OKW is really awesome!

So, both times we stayed at the Radisson Resort. It was nice. The beds actually were great and the room very clean. The kids liked the pool. But it just felt wrong to me.
Exactly. I wonder why? I always feel like I'm missing out on something by staying off-site.

I'll take my little value room at Pop Century.
From the reviews I've read here on the Trip Reports board, the Pop is really a hit with the kids. I'm sure my kids would love it. I may attempt to stay there next year prior to moving to our DVC room.

if you stayed at OKW the entire time (paying cash for the weekend nights) you would need 240 points. The 2008 cash price is $630 per night but you can probably get a 25% discount for those nights. So the total for both weekend nights would be $1063.15 including tax. If you paid $171 a night at Cypress Pointe plus paid for parking you paid $915 (maybe more if you didn't include tax in that $171). Also if you stay on site the whole time you really don't need a rental car.
Bunny, good math. We don't pay parking though since we're annual passholders. We usually stay about 5 nights off site before moving to our DVC resort so maybe what I need to do is rent points from another DVC member. That might be the cheapest way to go.

Dang, you found it!

Have not stayed offsite since 1992 for the very reasons you stated.
Although you state them so much more colorfully.
LOL!! LtP says I tend to do that.

Sounds to me like you need to add on more DVC points!
I'm actually considering it. Although I'd never purchase them "new" again. The best deal is to purchase pre-owned points. Big savings.

Just think of all those signatures that are changing, it will speed up again, gotta have patience.
Its been a week. Still slower than molasses in January.
Ok, I've got to go and lose money at golf.
I'll get the rest of the replies done later tonight... unless the Rockies lose again. Then I'm jumping off the balcony.
